Every 1-2h it would repeat and we were so pumped. Then someone "burned" me the album on a CD and I could rock it on my walkman 😄 I don't know if you know this, but Eminem really had three rap personalities: Eminem, Marshall Mathers, and Slim Shady, and all of them are different. - Mashall was hardship and challenges in real life - Eminem was rapping about crazy stuff, hoes, booze etc - Slim was rapping about really harsh stuff like death, rape etc

I love this song so much, cause I was bullied in school for being white, fat, and shy asf and I was tired of it finally, I memorized this song specifically, cause I had a plan. And when I felt comfortable enough to spit this song without the music playing, I embraced it and I wrote slim shady with a sharpie on my off brand converse tips lol and when I went to school the next day dressed like Eminem in the tee shirt and stuff in this video, my mama let me bleach my hair and everything cause she saw how bad the bullies were and said I was gonna show they couldn't hurt me anymore lol and that day at school, they started in on me, I didn't say nothing, I sat down like I always did, and I started working on my morning work and one of my main bullies, he spoke out and said, "Will the real slim shady please stand up?" And I stood up and I threw my hand up, spit the first verse and got half way through the chorus, then got sent to I.S.S. They called my mom and when I got home, she said I went too far with it, but she said she was proud of me lol Was totally worth it and the bullies eventually stopped, but this song definitely made me feel more comfortable at school in my own skin after that. Lol Edit: Oh, I forgot to add that this was in 6th grade and until the day I graduated, this was an on going joke around the kids about me in school lmao and even still now as an adult, every other year on fb, people that I went to school with will post "I repeat, will the real slim shady please stand up?" on my wall. It's hilarious to me, cause it brings back a great memory I hold dear to me lol

I can rap this entire song, I always feel so bad ass. 🔥 You can see how much Tom was influenced by Slim. I listened to a bunch of Em’s songs reverently, then played back “Dear Slim.” So many connections and references from his songs from 2000.

It's kinda mind-blowing and really fun to see people not only reacting to, but also enjoying Eminem's early stuff. It makes sense because it's still relevant, but still. Also, no shade, but the Britney outfit Eminem was wearing was identical to an outfit she wore in her debut song Baby One More Time.

40.4k!!! Keep it going! Eminem came out swinging, but he had that big label budget behind him too with being a Dre signing. It's crazy how this industry takes artists and over the years either hollows them out or even worse kills them (the 27 club is a great example)... Eminem never really spoke too much on political things, social issues of the day etc. so he's a little vapid for my tastes. Tom out here changing lives with a positive message, meanwhile 'Slim's' message led MANY impressionable/dumb kids making dumb ass mistakes...like bleached tips lol
@loneb97593 жыл бұрын
Eminem always talked about social issues and politics... there is a reason that both Bush and Trump har the secret service investegate him. And I'm pretty sure that this is also what måde Tom feel inspired by him...even if they dont agree politicaly 😊

Bruh not just white rappers respect Em tho Em has Kendrick,Cole,Hopsin, Mac Miller,Joyner, etc. who respect him probably even more than White Rappers so stop boxing Eminem into that white rapper box cause He’s The Goat Of Hip Hop for a reason he’s globally respect by his peers and all walks of life the nigga is from Detroit most white rappers didn’t grow up how Em grew up👊🏽🐐🎯💯

@JayTooSavy you missed the whole point. First of all, EM was the first true white rapper to really break into Hip Hop. Now, if you are white, the first thing haters say NO MATTER HOW GO YOU ARE is your not EM and you can't rap because you aren't black. Tom's idol is EM. So of course he wanted to pay respect to the man who inspired him.

That Britney outfit was from her first video “baby one more time” . It’s so cute listening to youngsters try to figure these songs out. Like there’s a bunch of references to Tom green who I’m sure they have no clue about, or Carson daly, the drama with Christina talking about Kim on TRL, how huge boy bands and spice girls were at this time. It makes me wonder how many 70/80’s songs I’ve heard that I didn’t fully understand
@angelxxsin2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, it's obvious they were completely oblivious to most of the references in the video. Eminem was huge partly because he was a reaction to the Christina/Britney/NSYNC bubblegum pop era. There was basically nothing like Eminem back then, and it was a time when being yourself and speaking your mind was culturally celebrated as the coolest thing. He was also calling everyone out for being two-faced hypocrites.
