Love listening to your talks, one slight thing....please consider not making the idea of taking mushrooms so scary or requiring some professional oversight. Sure, with everything, caution and knowledge, but you're making it sound like people need a MD and therapist and psychaitrist to experience mushrooms (or molly) in a safe and positive way and it almost seems like you're being apologetic taking these things.

I'd agree with this more if Huberman was more inclined to ask Lex about his life. It's his birthday, yet Huberman just cannot stop talking about his own life feats, making sure to acknowledge every person who helped along the way....... except lex. He is the type of person who NEEDS attention so very badly, to exist happily. And this makes him difficult to watch at this point. I love what he does and stands to make known, but he has a very major psychological issue going on that really turns me off nowadays. ...and I have always loved him and Lex, but now it seems more of a platform where he uses Lex, to an extent.

100% agree. These two are a few of the trailblazers. Men aren’t fighting foreign invaders, bears whatever.. pick the physical foe. Our enemies are more internal vs external. More along the lines of struggles with prior trauma, addiction, habits that knowingly or unknowingly weaken us and keep us weakened. There’s shame in that weakness that makes the root issue inaccessible to healing. Andrew and Lex willingly and publicly walk into their struggles with these battles, and are equipping others with the best tools to combat their own battles. Historical masculinity seemed to be measured by measure of outward force. Dominance and power. Modern masculinity seems like an abandonment of the prior archetype. Modern masculinity couples a deep acknowledgment of failure/inner weaknesses and a will to have a daily deliberate war with our internal foes. I think it looks a lot like this conversation. Humility, struggle, and ownership. Thank you Lex and Andrew not only for modeling the new paradigm but sharing what you’ve learned along the way in your journey.

“Laughing at the absurdity of it all” is probably one of my greatest feelings these past few years. In three years I’ve lost 130 pounds. I’ve tackled everything I hated about my life. I’ve had so many ups and downs over the course of it, but I just keep moving forward. Every time I get close to having “The Life I Want”, something happens. Something takes me a step back, always. The closer I got the more it hurt to take a step back. One night I had a moment where I let it get to me bad. All the sudden I had this feeling of laughter come over me (was micro-dosing shrooms). I started maniacally laughing with tears in my eyes. I had this realization that there was never going to be a single point to make it to. If I kept trying to finish the race, I never would. I was thinking as if I needed to race to my goals, but the ultimate goal was a better life, and life’s not a race, it’s a journey. I focused so hard on the goal that I forgot to enjoy what I had worked for. I have accomplished so much. I have made so many changes to my life for the better. There is nothing about me that I have left to hate and it’s a little weird to me. I hardly remember this feeling. I no longer let set backs pull me down any harder than they should. Lately I’ve just laughed everything off. I let myself feel it, because I’m still human, then I laugh it off. I laugh it off and then adjust my goals accordingly. The closer I got to my ultimate goal, the less fulfilled I felt. Luckily I was able to move past that and finally enjoy my hard work. I can confidently say I’m the happiest, healthiest me I have ever been, and I can only move up from here. I still have goals to meet, but they’re always moving. They will forever be just ahead of me. I wish I had the drive to share my experience and knowledge like those who have helped me so much over the years, like Andrew & Lex, but that’s just not me. I will say this. Stay positive, work hard, don’t blame anyone else for your problems. Your life is your responsibility to improve and yours alone. Blaming anyone but yourself for your current reality will never serve you. The act of working to better your life, makes your life better. Don’t let anything hurt you any longer than it needs to. If you don’t meet a goal in the timeframe you wanted, forgive yourself and adjust, move forward. Set new goals always. Find peace within yourself, something to love in everyone, a reason to unite with another, and respect for all.

Guys, don’t rush into having kids, you’ve got plenty of time. Make sure you’ve got the right life’s partner, or, if you want to do it alone, know that it takes a ton more time, devotion, care, love, patience and persistence than a dog takes. God’s timing is perfect timing. Be patient and pray for His guidance and direction in all things. 🙏

Andrew - when you spoke about growing up without the right comprehensive guidance on how to live a healthy life, my own life fell into place. I was also born intensely curious and engaged, and I’ve realized as a child I never had anyone who could really teach me about myself as a human - especially not as a young woman with ADHD+, on the level I needed to understand, until you appeared. I love and respect how you’ve self-actualized as your own missing teacher, (is this the true path of life?), and the world is better because of your work and clear insight. Your podcast has changed and in a way saved my life recently, thank you for being an awesome answer to humanity’s call for conscious awareness and health. Thank you both from the bottom of my heart for being who you are. What a time to be alive.

I cannot put into words how much validation and support I get from just hearing you two sit down and talk. It is to see such candid and thoughtful, curious minds be open about their experience of life, that reinforces in my mind that I have the same approach to life, and that it's valid. It's through the understanding that great minds, who I respect so dearly, struggle with much of what I do to, that informs my struggles of their legitimacy. It's seeing you both demonstrate a similar curious and what many may call dangerous or "emotional" approach to life that leaves me empowered to ignore the cynics who stand in the way of my similar approach in my own life. You two are much needed role models for people like me, thank you so much for just being you and sitting down to talk about it. Never stop.

"Marriage, in the truest sense, is where you experience a Greater Reality in a relationship. True marriage is not merely going to the church and taking vows. True marriage is a bonding, a surrender, a commitment. It is the bonding of your mind and body, those things which have been the pinnacle of your separate identity, to another." Thank you both for your vulnerability, insight and and genuineness. Watching you has truly inspired me and raised my awareness of a blind spot Ive had for some time... this feeling that "something's missing" relayed to past events not in my control. You both are incredible human beings. Thank you so much for sharing this.

I've lost so many loved ones in recent years and it has been brutal. Something that helps me is instead of mourning their absence, I imagine they're with me in spirit. I talk to them, ask them questions, share experiences, jokes, anecdotes etc, just as we did when they were still in their physical bodies.

You both give so much to the world through your conversations and it's a better place as a result. This one is going to be hard to top but I'm certain that you'll both find a way. Being able to open and free to speak your mind... to be vulnerable, it's beautiful to see in this world. You made me well up with tears in your introduction, because I came to that same conclusion. I don't want to leave yet, there are a lot of interesting people to talk to, a lot of interesting people to interview, more books to read, more books to write. I can't wait to do more. such an amazing friendship! And definitely a tear jerker. It amazes me that animals have such an impacts on us. The look on Zoey's eyes( 11 year old great Dane) still trying to comfort me as life left her, will never leave me. Until the end she wanted to only love and comfort me. May they rest in greatness and I hope to impact someone as much as they did. Happy birthday lex you guys are amazing human beings. I admire such friendship and honesty.

I know this podcast is from 5 months ago but I also know that I’ve been watching all of your podcasts, that seem to come on every night, only after I’ve fallen asleep watching another show. But, I wake up to your calming, reassuring voice. I hear the wisdom that streams from your consciousness and I watch in awe of your gift of being a tremendously talented interviewer all the while wishing that I had just an ounce of the talents you possess. All that to say, I see this heartfelt, soulful opening to this particular podcast, and I will no longer be just a fan that watches when you pop on unexpectedly…. I will seek out this goodness. Wow wow wow! You two are, in my opinion, the epitome of gentlemen. You two individually share so much of yourselves to the world in hopes of bettering the world. I truly believe you both succeed in it on your own and DEFINITELY do so together. Every single conversation I've watched/listened to of you two together has given me great hope in the world's ability to heal from the wounds of our pasts. I greatly appreciate you both for being so candid about your experiences and your wishes for your futures. I have spent my whole life living in the Midwest and it feels so desolate and void of people who are open to sharing their vulnerabilities and enthusiasm for grand ideas. Watching the joy radiate from you both on your passions and hopes for peaceful partnerships with loving wives and children gives me a deeper and more concrete hope that one day I can find myself a community and partnership to call home. Bless you both. Thank you for existing and happy belated birthday!
