This video explains the concept of lexical categories in English syntax. Lexical categories are groups of words that have similar grammatical properties. The five lexical categories in syntax are: Noun, Verb, Adjective, Adverb and Preposition.
Nouns are often said to be a person, place, or thing, while verbs are said to be an event or act. Adjectives modify nouns, while adverbs modify verbs, adjectives, and other adverbs.
