It’s very interesting how the first two COD Zombies Icebergs Lex watched were mostly funny/meme things the community found and made over the years. Meanwhile, this Iceberg had a bunch of genuinely disturbing and creepy subjects especially once we got to the end. Case in point the Zetsubou and Unit 731 connection, like holy hell is that subject is horrifying. Not only were the things they did horrifying, the fact apparently 400k people were captured and not a single one made it out alive is both sad and disturbing.

It's easy to see why WaW and Bo1 Zombies had so much character after understanding the effort the devs went through to present a concise universe grounded to real life conspiracies, urban legends, and declassified/uncovered military atrocities. The humor of the four main characters is the only thing separating the mode from straight up horror, considering the art direction, setting, and audio of these maps. Most if not all of the qualities leading to this perfect balance (the magic of "OG Zombies") were lost after the first two games.

OMG it just dawned on me that the story of group 731 that Zet is based on is also what a sci fi short story I read for college was based on. It was so hard to read because it was so inhumane and gut wrenching. If anybody is interested in reading that short story, it is called The Man Who Ended History by Ken Liu. Proceed with caution because it is not an easy read, but it is certainly interesting.
