We bought one in Australia in 2012. It has been fantastic from a reliability point of view.....2 headlight bulbs replaced in 12 years have been the only ex-logbook maintenance. The version we have, the Sports Luxury, came with 215/45/17 tyres which, on the crappy road surfaces here, give a pretty hard ride with accompanying road noise. Otherwise, the car is easy to drive, the seats are comfortable and the cockpit is a nice place to be in with a pretty damn good sound system. A sports car it certainly ain't! Average mileage over 10 years of 200k km of city and crowded freeway driving has been 5.5l/100 km (51.4mpg UK). Not easy to manoeuver the grandchildren into the child seats in the back as the rear doors are pretty narrow but the effort keeps us fit. At 200k km at present so we plan on keeping it up to about 250k km and then we'll see how the battery is holding up before deciding on it's future. At the last service, the battery was better than 85% of the original capacity. We are only 200m from the dealership so servicing is ultra-simple for us and the Lexus customer service is beyond reproach. No regrets at all about the Lexus CT200h.

The B mode does not charge the battery. It basically adjusts the CVT transmission to simulate a lower gear, which is only useful when going down extended mountain passes to avoid using the brakes too much. The brakes are what charge the hybrid battery. Using B mode will throw the energy away, but will prevent the brakes from over use or getting too hot. When you go down extended passes, the Battery will likely fill up from braking anyway, so any additional braking will only wear at the brakes, which are not particularly designed for heavy use, especially once the regeneration is disabled from a full battery
@JJonCars2 жыл бұрын
Oh! Cheers James for the correction. That's kinda disappointing that it throws the energy away.

bought a 2015 fsport and bought it beacuse of the sportier driving suspension and torque filling of the electric motor when compared to a 2018 prius, turned out to be a little cheaper then a prius aswell. As a 22 year old with a 2 year old, it actually suits me and my needs extremely well. It can do some technical driving on some backroads for an hour if i please and still have gas to pick up the kid from daycare and run errands. Even after all that, a full tank runs around ~$25-$28usd. As far as space goes, it can be a little tight to be honest, but for road trips a roof top carrier and low profile roof rack makes up for the car being on the smaller size.

Hi JJ. This is possibly one of the fairest reviews of the CT200H that I've seen (sorry Matt, no offence). Had mine for close on 3 years and it's totally reliable, I average 57mpg (yes, that's the average over my ownership) and once you get used to the CVT it's pretty enjoyable to drive. It definitely is a different driving experience but once you're into it, it's great. The best way I can describe the acceleration characteristic is that it's a bit like piloting a small motor boat...the engine revs up and the propeller does its stuff at the rear and then the boat catches up with it. In summary, love mine and would definitely have another.

I'd take the CT200h personally. It's more interesting and luxurious but still has the fuel economy of the Prius

1:30 'luxury, compact..' and you dont know why they used Kylie Minogue? 😂

Haha, good point! 😂

Didn't know they had that eV only mode button, hardly seems worth it with those tiny batteries 🤔.

Yep, one mile maximum, and I couldn't even get it to turn on haha, kept saying not enough battery charge 😄

It's for moving around short distances without having to start the petrol engine or to not wake neighbours in the morning etc. Maybe Japanese think of such things but Westerners do not care

Miles? Gallons? You guys still hunt dinosaurs or what?
@JJonCars4 ай бұрын
Yeah, I don't know why we still use them. We fill our cars up with litres and then try and figure out the miles per gallon....

So many complaints on this car.. Engine noise, low body that scratches in bump easily, poor design quality that makes rain water entering inside the car.. That is why they stopped the production..
@MatthewFarmer-mo5hs4 ай бұрын
Totally inaccurate,it’s not why they stopped production,it’s the replacement Lexus ux200 that stopped it.

Спасибо, отличный обзор. Хочу себе такой автомобиль. Какая стоимость нового оригинального аккумулятора?
@JJonCars Жыл бұрын
Спасибо. К сожалению, я не знаю цену аккумулятора.

The MPG rating in the video is incorrect. They did not convert to KPG. My car gets 44 MPG in the city and 33 MPG on the highway. that is because the car uses the battery in the city, but not on the highway.
