I really like that, and am considering doing this, or maybe ordering the brushed parts from overseas. Are you planning on doing anything to the color of the "darker" brown at the top of the door or the dash to make it match the black? I've been toying with the idea of doing that to have the light tan contrast with black everywhere else

It would take way too much work imo to convert to black on the interior. I did switch to Prado interior panels instead of the wood on my GX though.

Yes, we’re thinking we may take it to a pro vinyl shop and get it wrapped in some kind of shiny piano black texture. Not quite sure yet. I’ll be sure to include it in a future video!

Yeah the Prado ones are nice, but more expensive. this only cost $20 and it still looks good.

This is JMHO Why would you want to turn your real birdseye maple into black plastic? Why not try and find an old GX *Sport Model* from a junk yard. Sport models have the dark wood trim. I'm not a huge fan of the orangey birdseye maple either. There has to be a set of the sport model trim on eBay or Craigslist. BTW,those panels are real wood not plastic. Well...that is until now🙄😒

Some peoples’ are cracked or sun-faded. sure, you could go out and buy the silver sport model replacements, how much would that cost? $2-300? or you can just spend $20 on whatever vinyl wrap suits your tastes and wrap them. Different strokes for different folks, my friend.

My first thought was “why cover the wood”? My second thought was “oh, to make it look like the black wood in my Sport.”

Yeah mostly cuz I was tired of hearing “it looks like an old man car with this wood” lol The dark wood of the later models definitely looks better. I’m still keeping the wood in my other GX because I think it’s nice. Different preferences I guess 🤷‍♂️

I don’t assume people know stuff when I make these videos. There are a variety of folks who visit my channel. Vinyl wrap doesn’t do so well on steering wheels with that tight radius. Some people like the wood. I do too, but If you could see these trim pieces up close, they are really faded on the tops where the sun hit them.

@@dp9948 Theyre not real wood on GX though are they? My presonal rule of thumb is that if the wood is real or atleast has a single sheet of veneer on the plastic trim, I wont wrap it, maybe tint it to darker shade. But I'm a car interior modding junkie, some people wrap cars outside, I change the colour of my cars leather, carpet and trim colour. Currently dying my GXs ugly dark grey leather to Lexus Cabernet dark red leather liek in newer GXs and LXs.

@@e.e9331 hi Lexus junkie here I can say without a doubt that the later models 05 and up I’m believe all have real wood in fact they cut the wood trim from the same tree to ensure the same pattern
