The german brands may drive very marginally better, but most wouldn't even reach half this mileage without major work continually needed. I've owned 4 x Lexus' and they've never let me down :)

I've just bought my IS250, 65,000miles, 2007. My first impressions of it are fantastic. It's almost silent at idle and feels incredibly premium compared to my Volvo of a similar age. If you're in the market for one I'd highly reccomend one with a Mark Levison system. It's the best sound system I've ever heard. Another thing I'd mention is that when I called the Lexus garage to enquire about a mudguard for the wing, they said they would fix it for free as part of a service instead of charging me for a new one. It's exceeded my expectations in every way so far.

I have a 2006 and I love it. Just hit 100k miles(bought at 84k) and nothing major so far. One things that I love is how timeless the design it. I’ve had friends think my car was like 8-10 years old then they’re shocked when I tell them it’s from 2006. Lexus designed a beautiful car. The interior is nice too. Great sound systems, sunroof, and heated and ventilated seats. It was loaded for its time. I get the oil changed every 5k and going to change some of the other fluids soon as well. Only minor issues I’ve had are: the tpms had to be replaced in one of the tires so that was annoying. Trunk latch actuator broke. I bought the oem replacement for $30 since shop wanted over $200 for it. I had another repair shop install the part for $80. touchscreen digitizer went out but that’s an easy diy($25 replacement) I’ll do in the future. Theres enough physical buttons to get me by to work the climate(I hit auto) and I use the aux anyway. I still think it’s worth it. These cars are built great.

I bought an 06 IS350 with 158k KM over 6 months ago here in the Toronto area after watching your videos. I would say that finding an IS350 in good condition here is very hard to find. There's only a couple for sale at a time and most are usually very neglected. Took a very long time before I found the right one and It's been nothing but reliable, zero mechanical issues and is very comfortable and fun to drive.

Hey Roador super happy to hear the videos helped you in getting such a great car! That’s actually quite low mileage for the year, and I agree with you it is hard to find in Ontario today plus the prices have increased quite significantly because of the supply chain mess.

@@Leo-vw2zi Full service history and check on a lift for worn bushings and suspension / brakes. Check if transmission fluid has been changed regularly, also the differential fluid. Check oil level and see when the last change was (maybe it burns oil). Check the inside of the exhaust tips by swiping it with your fingers, if they are deeply black, it means it burns oil. Check all fluid levels under the hood. Look for uneven worn tires on a lift. Push/pull on tires grabbing 12 and 6 o clock to see if there is play. On a test drive check the electronics and also listen carefully for clunks and mechanical noises while driving and also while driving over bumps. See if the transmission shifts smoothly and feels good. On a cold start, have a good look and listen to the engine - does it rattle? Metallic noises? (To a certain extend normal, but if there is a lot of metallic rattling on cold start or shaking, walk away)

@@Leo-vw2zi A good ODB scanner can also tell you a whole lot if there are any faults with the car. Carly OBD makes it easy for non-mechanics to interpret codes and know what it takes to fix them. But overall just make sure the car runs smoothly and don’t overpay. It’s a very old car with huge mileage. Calculate some money in for replacement of worn items.

Couldn’t agree more with you review man. I bought my 2006 IS250 AWD in 2020. I needed something reliable an with good value and that could handle the Chicago winters. After all my research, I decided to go with the IS until I’m done with residency. It’s been such a dream to own, I bought it with 95k miles on it. It’s now at 108k and all I’ve had to do was change the alternator a day ago, aside from that it’s just routine service and a set of tires. It’s been a gem to own and drive, a perfect mix of luxury/sport/reliability. Imagine at an age of 14, it comes with features that you may not get on other cars in the same price range. Heated/cooled, electric, leather seats, sunroof, keyless entry, V6, AWD/RWD depending on your spec. I honestly don’t know much other cars that can give all those features for less than $10k with legendary reliability. I paid $5500 for mine and because I love it so much I’ll be keeping it a backup when I upgrade to a model Y in about a year and a half.

Only big issue was i had was to replace the exhaust pipe from below the front seat area to the back. Guy said it's common on these vehicles, Maybe because of the salt here in the winter? Sounds more like the fuel you guys have in Canada is very low quality. I'm getting driving normal (80mph / 140kmh) on the motorway with cruise control easy 40mpg 4.9l/100km. A full tank, if I drive normally can take me 380 to over 400 miles, and this is mixed from driving rural, motorway and occasional city traffic. And no, I don't rely on the board computer, I do my math / budgeting myself, but I have to say the BC is close to the real numbers, it is usually out by 2 mpg.

12l/100 km on a highway seems extremely high to me. On European roads (and speed limits) the consumption on my 2007 IS350 has been the following: Avg. 80 km/h - 7.1l/100km 100 km/h - 7.4l/100km 120 km/h - 7.9/100km Just wanted to add this in case someone is having second thoughts about buying this car due to its consumption. It's ridiculously efficient when you aren't driving it hard, considering the size of the engine. I personally have a square setup of 225/40/18 wheels to help with the fuel consumption. Having very wide tires will easily add an liter or two to your highway average. Some tips to help with fuel consumption: - Clean the throttle body (very easy DIY) - Replace the air filter and clean the MAF (even easier DIY; you can use any CRC MAF cleaner on this model) - Change the rear differential oil - Check the pressure on your tires (for longer trips I personally add ~0.3 bar to each tire, helps with the inner tire wearing issue that these cars have as well) - Use cruise control :-)

Not sure how you drive, but there is something wrong with your reported fuel mileage. If I baby it on the highway, I can get a tank average in the low 7's (litres per 100 km) on long trips. Around town, I get between 10 and 12. Long term average (not the tank average) is about 10 according to the display in my car. The most annoying issue that I have is a fast cold idle (around 1500 rpm). Always need to make sure that the foot is firmly on the brake pedal when shifting into "D" when the engine is cold.

I love my Lexus! I drove my 2008 IS250 for Uber and Lyft for one month. I felt like it was blasphemy to drive such a nice car for rideshare. So...I bought a slow 2018 Toyota Yaris for my rideshare gig. I kept my IS250 and I think it's pretty luxurious. Faster and far far more luxurious than the small Yaris that's for sure! I love the wooden grain touches that scream luxury! Meanwhile, my Uber Yaris is all plastic and cheap inside.

It being I’m in the USA we don’t use kilometers so I have to do the conversion. So you’re a little over 215k miles? Not bad ! My 2008 Lexus IS250 is at 126k miles and no issues. The only issue I had earlier this year was an ABS wire that was faulty and it caused the ABS and Traction light to go on. Easy fix I just changed the wire and it’s good to go! Lovely car !

What mpg do you get on UK roads? Do you use 95 or premium unleaded?
@liambrown1216
@liambrown1216 2 жыл бұрын
@@joelaw728 I use premium unleaded only (99RON) Premium fuel makes a big difference to the way the car feels and gets me an extra 10 to 15 miles. I get about 30 mpg on average per tank with a mixture of town and motorway driving (sensible driving) slightly less in winter (28.5) Can easily get 40mpg on a long motorway run with cruise control at 75, not bad at all for a V6. If you're considering one it's worth mentioning all IS250's before 2008 are not compatible with E10 fuel.

Hi Liam. Can you still recommend the IS250 as I’m about to get one. How’s the running cost like?
@LBee70
@LBee70 Жыл бұрын
@@AAwopetu Yes can still highly recommend one, the running costs are slightly higher than your average car, you'll average around 28 mpg if you drive it carefully. (about 320 miles from a full tank of fuel) These cars rarely break but parts can be expensive if they do so, make sure the one you're looking for has been looked after, full service history. the auto gearbox should shift smoothly, no strange noises when engaging If its done over 80,000 miles I would highly recommend you have the gearbox oil drained/refilled immediately Lexus charge £200 to do it. Also check the car properly for rust. rust is a big killer of these cars, the costs to repair rust issues can add up quickly if its not dealt with.

After my sister totaled her 03 ES300 that she loved, we got her into a 2010 IS250 AWD with 90k miles. She likes it a lot, but there are some annoying squeaks and rattles from the instrument cluster I need to figure out. Also, the amplifier went and Lexus quoted $2000, luckily we got the extended warranty. Hoping it lasts her a while.

I'm really keen on purchasing a 2008 IS250 with 80,000 kms. I've done a lot of research (video watching and review reading) and am really liking the feature and reliability aspect. I think the jarring problems of this car can be fairly manageable and is less problematic than most cars. However, my concern is that this would be my first car and have heard fairly contrasting opinions of fuel economy. Would the big 2.5L V6 engine be suitable for an 18 year old and wouldn't burn my pockets every week?

Interesting on the economy figures.. My 2010 250 does 10.6L/100km in the city and 8.5L/100km on the highway (mostly around 110km/h). That is also after a 5% economy hit using 94 RON E10 fuel. 12-13 seems like a lot and may indicate the fuel trims are compensating for something, but not so much that it throws a code yet.

And I bought the current lexus just as a temporary car until I buy the new but the more I drive the car the I fall in love with. First for the age its very very well equipped not even my last merc had ventilated seats as standard second I really like the how the car drive, its sporty and also comfortable third its a really really well build car, I mean no razzle or squishy sounds and everything from the engine, gearbox and electronics is top notch quality. It went from I only prefer german cars I want to order a brand new lexus. I really like the brand and how they actually build their cars. I mean that's how a premium car should be. The 250 I have my eye on has 132k miles on it and no accidents and the carfax report shows it’s had the engine serviced every 5k miles. The mileage is low and it spent the majority of its life in Arizona so no rust issues but I have only a concern for what kind of fuel it’s being ran on as you said they require premium fuel and to make sure it’s suspension isn’t getting too tired as well. If it hasn’t been ran on premium fuel I am hoping I wouldn’t have to replace the fuel injectors but I will if I have to.
