Lexus LC500 and Lexus LFA: It just made sense!

Even in this industry, there are those most cherished of cars like Lexus’s ultra-exclusive Lexus LFA Supercar, which only a handful of journalists have ever driven.
So, when the opportunity came around for Alborz to push a Lexus LFA around a private test facility for the very first time, miraculously, his schedule freed up and he was on a plane bound for Sydney.
When the LFA was released in 2010, it was priced from $700,000, but these days, barely-used examples can fetch as much as $1.3 million, which is why Lexus Australia chose the risk-free option of trucking the car to our private test facility.
Seven years on, and it’s still a fabulous looking machine, unlike any other of its day, while exclusivity was guaranteed by virtue of the fact only 500 were ever built.

But I still gotta agree with Abu Nation, The LFA somehow sounds smooth and astonishingly refined inside, yet have such a raucous and soulful wail outside that invokes the best sounding generation (V10) of the best sounding cars ever (F1).

There is just no beating it. It screams it hisses it rumbles and grumbles its a whole cohesive package of absolutely orgasmic sounds. Having said that though the lfa is an absolutely fantastic orchestra of orgasmic sounds... They really should put its engine and yahama exhaust in the lc500f. That would be one hell of a car!

Jaguar F-Type blows it away, plus highway cruises at 1200 RPM. Screaming RPM means extreme low torque and is annoying AF. Thats why VW Group V10s in the R8 and Huracan, and the low torque VW boxers in the Porsche 911 GTx series are so damn slow. Same for the LFA. All weak motors scream like their being raped.

Yamaha and Lexus, two of my favorite things. That LFA revs out like my FJR 1300 bike and I also have a V8 Lexus. OK it's a LS 460 but it has been 7 years of bullet proof ownership, which is why Lexus is better than the German's. Has been for decades.

@ Hasan Al-habbobi - you need to quit with the fanboyism, German cars are far from perfect, majority of them are built tp a price and share components to save costs at the factory, including Mercedes. Volkswagen Group is notorious for it, the Germans might be the best marketeers of cars for people like that preach them like fanboys but you are out of reality of real ownership of them and what they are like to own. Now onto Lexus, they pride themsleves in craftsmanship, design, engineering each and every car Lexus makes it takes them years of thought and practice for the car to develop and release to perfection, Where as the Germans release a new car every other day and they aren't without their problems because they tend to rush their releases and end up having to "facelift" the whole car. Lexus DOES NOT do that, because they release cars engineered with precision from the factory, that is why they are the most reliable and well engineered cars on the road! you will see Toyota/Lexus cars from the 80s and 90s still running and driving perfect on the road, a true testament to the build and reliability. Where as the German cars are built to last the duration of your lease plan.

You couldn't have said it better as a luxury grand tourer this is the best value and best automobile in its class beating the competition from Mercedes, Jaguar, BMW and Porsche. That class by the way are cars ranging between $100k US to $150k.

Well deserved review of these cars ! The LC500 is a Bargain. If the LC500 had a BMW AUDI OR MERCEDES badge on it.. it would cost 150k to 200k. That's how well built and engineered the LC500 is. It's a steal for it's asking price. It rivals Aston Martin and Bentley coupes. The LC500 recently beat the Bentley continental super sports in a recent test. The LC500 is at this moment the best luxury drivers performance coupe combination on sale.

Keiji Akina German, Japanese and American Infotainment systems (apart from Tesla) honestly aren't anywhere near Hyundai's BlueLink and Kia's UVO3. The Korean's are the only one updating their system so that older cars don't become throw aways. With how integrated the car is to it's infotainment. Poor software means your car will only be as functional as it's tech. Which in our world today mean 2-3 years. You can't update an iDrive or MMI system to adapt future OS's when newer BMW's and Audis come out. Nor do they have good enough hardware to do so.

The LFA sounds so sexxxy naughty wow wow! I watch reviewers talk about how certain cars sound amazing but then the LFA comes around and makes exhaust sound like pornographic opera. The horniest thing on earth. The sound trumps Ferrari, Maclaren, Buggatti, Porsche, etc. I’m a Porsche fan and owner, I don’t even like Lexus but in sound they... own it!

The problem with low torque engines is that HP = TQ x RPM, so they need hellish red lines to make power. Cruising at 6-7K RPM at highway speeds eats the engine alive, so each mile driven is like driving 5 miles. 7000 RPM at 70 mph is why all the MR2s died with 50K to 100K miles on them.

The LFA is subtlety beautiful. Lots of tiny details you don’t notice until you see one up close. The LC is beautiful too but it’s outward appearance is louder than that of the LFA.

Actually it's not too bad considering it is being pushed to its max. It could go round the Circuit de la Sarthe probably 11 times before needing a refuel - if it was just accelerating hard the entire time. Probably 15+ times in real life. That's really good compared to many other high performance cars. Comparable, the Veyron can empty its tank in 12 minutes which would only allow it to lap the circuit twice or tree times max (probably 5 times real life with braking and off throttle cornering etc). But still, 49.7L per 100km is hilarious xD
