@BMW-pk6nh4 жыл бұрын
Lexus made a huge mistake removing the eyelash daylight running lights that enhances the Luxury fleet and also is a head turner and very appealing and is and definitely a Lexus LS Signature that out shine the competition. The new facelift is blad boring not appealing or elegantly designed or luxurious, Lexus stop touching those things that are perfected and represents strongly the LS and out shine the competition. The new headlights needs to be replaced they look low grade and unattractive, the car needs the return of the headlights that were replaced that has the sexy elegant luxurious eyelashes

YEEEESSSS. As a 2018 LS500 owner some of these upgrades are very welcome. Touchscreen, that's a win, too bad it's not integrated too nicely. The driving sensors on the outside, it's too bad they didn't hide them better. I wanted to see heated steering wheel/seats should have redesigned like the ES has. To my eye any amount of simplifying and "butching up" the prototypical Lexus melted plastic and metal spindle grille front end is a welcome move. Kirk, you mention that it's not as elegant... Whereas in not into elegant cars. That's why I opted for a 2015 pre-spindle grille GS350 F-Sport in lieu of the 2016 model. I've been hoping and praying they move away from that design language. Lexus IS and GS models used to be elegant in a butch way. Now they're just elegant. And they don't sell. BMWs still sell like hotcakes, and they're butch and elegant and have practical technology interfaces. Lexus has waited too long to step back and take a look at what they've done, and they're certainly don't seem to be asking anyone's opinion what these cars should look like.

I'll go on record that this "refresh" is something minor - for the time being. And I say that for a few reasons. Let's go WAY back to the second generation LS. The 95-00. Minor tweaks with big significance. I think that's what we have here. Same with the third gen refresh in 04. There's also rumors floating around that the V8 may come back. Listen, Toyota was to be OWNING the Olympics right now. But then... 2020... Womp. So, I think they may be holding some stuff back from us. Tokyo was supposed to be an absolute kid-in-a-candy-store moment for ToyoLex. Let's stay positive. I'm with you Kirk about the LS refresh. It seems meh right now. This car is a stunner in person. Pics just don't ever do it justice. Also, the colors they gave us in the press kit are not at all impressive.

Wow I really love the headlight design on the current LS now. Kind of disappointed that the new headlights lost their signature jewel like appearance that made the car so special. Excellent analysis. Thanks. I own the 2018 LS 500 series. I always loved how Lexus positioned the screen monitor tastefully integrated into the dash inwards to avoid sun rays. Most all other car companies seem to add the screen monitors as an after-thought, like a sore thumb appendage which is exactly what Lexus does this time. This new touch screen no longer is tastefully understated in design, but some sort of a sore thumb appendage staring back at the driver. I also prefer the exterior design of the 2018 styling with the chrome and previous headlights. Sad what Lexus did to the new upgrade. I do like the upgraded upholstery design and enhancement to driving comfort from the chassis mount additives. It is difficult to find that premium balance between sport and comfort driving since there are trade-offs to accomplish both, but Lexus did it with the all new LS 500 generation. Tight, directional steering and still good comfort ride, but not plush and soft.

Just curious, what are your thoughts on the LS’s instrument cluster and infotainment system/mouse/touchpad? I might be wrong on this but it looks like Lexus took a small digital screen and wrapped it in metal or enshrouded it in fine leather. The regular LS’s instrument cluster looks different from the F-Sport model (which looked like the LF-A cluster), pre-refresh. This looks extremely dated and odd in a modern luxury car. I haven’t had experience with the infotainment system myself but it seems to be widely hated. I loved the iDrive system in my ‘13 E92 even though the graphics were dated. The BMW’s 3D mapping of the buildings in the navigation system as you drive seems modern even by today’s standards. Not sure if this is even an option on the Lexus. The best instrument cluster IMO is the one on the new ‘21 S-Class, although I’ll say that the huge binnacle for the AR on the dashboard looks absolutely hideous and ruins the aesthetic of an otherwise gorgeous interior. Typical Mercedes, just look at the rear view mirror of any Mercedes with self parking. Looks like a tumor under the mirror.

I’m sorry but that touchscreen is a massive let down. I’m in total shock that Lexus would put such a thing in their flagship of all vehicles. See the problem is that instead of stick with touchscreens I’m the 2010, Lexus in their pursuit to follow the Germans went with their weird mouse like controller and then to a touchpad. However they got completely blindsided when all of the Germans began going touchscreen in 2018. Now they are trying to play catch up. Good lesson in being yourself and not trying to mimic the next guy.

I coudn't agree with you more on the infotainment screen. Is just ugly and unfit for a Lexus, any Lexus. My god of all the useless and gimmicky curves and lines who at Lexus thought this belongs here. A Kia has a better design. I'm not kidding. LOL

It looks like a hot mess. Lexus sadly took a major step back with this update. I could not believe my eyes when I saw that touch screen just sitting on the dash, wow!! Talking about about an afterthought. @lexus engineers should take some notes at the upcoming S class. This car is at least 10 years behind in interior design, and 5 years in exterior. I will keep my current LS until Lexus gets their stuff together for the next model.

The old one looks better and it look more luxurious, the refresh look like a cheap Camry f sport, this is an insult for Lexus fan, it look like a downgrade for a very luxurious LS500. Where is the elegant chrome effect? where is the eyebrow headlight? I was very disappointed at Lexus.

The 2021 Lexus LS 500 came out and the sensor in the middle of the grill is not there. Grill looks like the old grill. I am very thankful that they finally have a touchscreen to adjust the seats including the massage function. I realize that the touchpad is not the best looking, but it is a million times than trying to play with the mouse pad and paddle while driving (which you can not do without crashing).

The Cadillac has a digital rearview mirror as well. The tablet style touch screen is necessary in order to bring the screen forward so that the driver can interact with it directly. It is NOT an add on or a bolt on.. Tablet style screens are the industry standard for modern luxury vehicles... look at Mercedes, look at BMW look at Audi... Having a screen deeply mounted inside the dash is reminiscent of your dad's 26" black and white TV inside a polished oak cabinet. Glad to see that style disappear.

The ES looks to much like LS. They should go back to the drawing board if they want to sell a lot of LS.

Totally agree with you on the headlights. The LS now looks like ES. LS being flagship should be distinguishable from other models from front alone. Hopefully, the headlights change remains in JP alone.

I sell Lexus cars and came to this video to see how to better talk up the 2021 LS 500. I think I am going to recommend the 2020s while they're still around. I want them to use the wasted screen near the glove box. Not sure what to do with it, but it's not being utilized.

I was just going to buy an LS today. No joke. Not going to anymore, waiting for NEXT YEAR!

People don't understand that the new design had to incorporate more sensors to allow for more auto driving features. Anyone can design a cool looking car, but after you put in all the sensors and other things to meet US/International safety requirements, you don't have a lot of room to play with. Considering what I just said, I like next year's model more than the this year's model. I also like the inside seats more. I agree with the headlights

I like the new headlights better...looks simple and cleaner....the old ones look missy and busy...I hate the chrome accent....looks better without it.
