Great video and a nice message, I have a leaking front airbag on my LS400, just put 4oz slime tire sealant from the air hose opening, crossed my finger at first start, it turned out that it is holding pretty well at both high and normal height setting. Thanks for the video, it is very inspiring to me. Will update you later if it fails.

Great video and I'm glad you took the time make it and post it. My problem is a little different than yours. The air part of the struts works great, but all the hydraulic/gas part is shot. I've looked every where to see If I could buy just this part and was unable find them. I ordered 4 used out of Canada that are supposed to come from low mileage cars in Japan. I debated over converting it back to standard struts, but like you...I think it'll take away from the Ultra Luxury package.

+DARRELL TENPENNY I think you made the right choice. If you use standard struts you will always have lights on your instrument cluster lit up, and loose options. Also (not related), I had a radiator fan motor fail recently and I learned that you can use certain late model fans motors, but you must have the wire harness that was attached to the new motor. This allows you to get a used motor from a 2003-2005 rather than a motor that is 10+ years old.

+Hunter Roberts I did the drivers front today. My Quick clip remover set didn't go to 1/4" so I went to Autozone and bought another set, sadly it works great on the strut off the car, but it wont work on the car. I ended up taking the top off a form-a-gasket tube and cutting the ends off and then a slit down the side and this worked. (I think your tool you made might work better due to being longer). Your instructions were perfect for how to remove the strut, the only thing I did different was unbolt the leveler off the inner wheel well, the strut was getting caught up on it. The replacement went right in with no problems. Thanks for the heads up on the fan motor and once again thanks again for the video. Tomorrow I'm doing the other front, but think I might wait until spring to do the rears. I knew I had to remover the back seat, but totally forgot about it being power. By the way the strut I took off had leaked all the gas out and was dead like I thought.Can't wait to get the other one on.

Great job Robert , i know it's been 3 years you dead the job but what I what to know it's the struts had different color line painted on that's from the factory and they mean anything ? ...And how is the suspension holding up ?

Russ Birzescu The used strut looked the same, no different color. It is still holding up, but the struts have 15 years on them now and I can hear a little thump when hitting a large bump. It is probably time for new ones, but the car is still handling well and the air struts do not leak down.

Why would it be ok in high and go down in normal? Mine is fine in normal but drops when rising from the lowered position at speed

God day sir I noticed my ls front left was on floor I just bought it I checked first thing and the hose pull right out with a tug I pushed in and no click so it’s not locking in but it stays in until pulled does it make sense that I have a leak cause it does not fully lock in thank you sir

Ray More , It has been a while since I replaced mine, it may be leaking at the hose connection. It is important to discover the problem because the air pump has to work overtime to keep the strut inflated.

Hello Dusty. You said that you lubricated the O-rings when you were putting the strut into place. Is that referrring to the one (or more than one?) O-ring that is the connector for the air hose going through the side wall of the wheel well? I have felt for years that I really needed to actively share the Gospel for others. I have begun to do so recently. Whether or not they accept their need for forgiveness and a Savior is up to them. For me, I am just convinced that God has called us to share our faith for others to hear. Thank you for your excellent and informative video and your testimony!

Hi Stephen, I just saw this comment, sorry my reply is late. The o-ring that is lubricated is only referring to the one(s) inside the shock where the air hose attaches. I am glad that you understand the need to share Jesus Christ with others - it is really the only thing with lasting (eternal) value. Looking for help Will never purchase a car again with air bags. My 2008 Lexus 600hi front air suspension struts went and that was a hefty repair bill using genuine lexus parts. Not even a year later the rear did the same Trying to find a aftermarket replacement strut suspension kit Does anyone have any idea where to find such a thing please.

My LS 430 is NOT the Ultra Luxury package. Can these air struts be installed and work as they should on my non Ultra Luxury LS?

Adrian Reyes, no it is unfortunately an entire system that ties the air suspension together. There are some after market ones you can purchase that will work in a similar way.

How did you determine the strut was bad. Did you use soapy water to find a leak?

After the car sat for some time, I noticed that the car settled at one corner (front drivers side).The other 3 struts maintained the proper height. It has been a while, but it seems that I remember the car height would stay up better if I set the ride height to the higher position (the setting to be used for a bumpy road). I figured the only thing I had changed by adjusting the height was where the bend was in the rubber strut boot and that it must have a small crack (which it did).

Driver Lexus , I did not replace the o-rings. I did liberally apply a silicone lubricant to them. I’m sure new ones would not cost much if you decide to replace them.

+Texan, No, not all ls430 have the air struts. I believe only the Ultra Luxury model has them. If your considering buying an ls430, the normal shocks are much less expensive to replace.

I know that there are replacement non-air struts out there, but I have not looked into it. I don't know if a standard strut will work. If a different option other than the original air strut style is used, your dash lights will stay on. You will also have to disable the air pump. The price of struts have dropped. A single strut can be purchased new on-line for $552 each.

Hello Hunter. Thanks for your input. Offline, I was searching infos about it too. I'm obsessed with this theme and literally invested my last 3 days in this question. That is what I found. Possibility to do are rare, but they are. Some users swapped their Air Coills with products from D2 Racing. For myself, I received confirmation of JIC, that they could make a coilover specifically designed for it. Whatever, this is a custom shop order for a serious amount of dollars. When you undo the aircoils, you can terminate the compressor (uninstall) and the feeding lines as well, and there are 3 little connectors in the system to unplug, so that the car will not send you warnings.

+Texan, I only replaced one side, front left. Just verify that both sides of the car are at the same height, ride height may need to be adjusted.

It didn't last long. Bought a used one on eBay, working now, but saved my old one for a patching test.
