Thanks for posting! I have a 2011 LX and currently installing android 11 headunit. Flashers are blinking nonstop and button is not disabling them. Also passenger airbag light is on suggesting it is disabled. Confident I can work through these issues. I will probably follow with 360 camera and replace rear TV as you did as well. Thanks again!

Hmmm, that sounds like you might have one of the connectors either loose, or connected to the wrong thing. I would try going through every connector to make sure you have them all in the right spots, and firmly connected.

Looking sharp! With some time on the unit, would you install it again?
@NKPGarage
@NKPGarage 2 жыл бұрын
Absolutely! It has been one of the main reasons that I keep deciding to keep this 2009 LX570 instead of going to a 2016+. The sound is great. Capabilities are great. And I don't have any complaints yet after a couple years with it.

Hello! My 2013 LX have some shortage issue (previous owner went to carwash with sunroof opened), wich immediately kills SOS module. That means, my cameras and sensors are dead. So instead of finding cause of that shortage im considering something like this. So head unit have some input for 360 set? And it will automatically switch after reverse or you have to start cameras manually? Thanks!
@NKPGarage
@NKPGarage 5 ай бұрын
Yes. It has input for video. You can use it for just a reverse camera. Or you can use it for a 360 camera setup. It will trigger it to switch to camera when you put it in reverse. Or you can also go to the camera view by tapping the camera button in the dash next to your steering wheel.

Looks awesome! Do the steering wheel buttons work? Do you have more details on the 360 setup? Did you install the cameras in the original location? How painful was the install?
@NKPGarage
@NKPGarage 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! The steering buttons all worked for me, except the phone answer/hangup buttons. I know for some other folks with newer head units those buttons work for them as well. For the front/rear/right cameras I placed them approximately in the same location as the old factory camera. The left camera did not exist from the factory so I had to pick a spot and install under the mirror. The toughest part of the camera install was routing wires from inside the cabin through the door harness and into the mirror. It took a while to do, but well worth it.

Nice. Have a 2013 LX, and the amp died. Looking to upgrade to this or the Belsee version. Any updates on your Phoenix? Have seen a bunch of complaints about it which is making me nervous to pull the trigger, seems like you’re the only one who’s had a positive experience publicly…
@NKPGarage
@NKPGarage 5 ай бұрын
It always worked great for me. I sold the 2009 LX570 a couple years ago. But I had it for I think 4-5 years. It works just like every other android based head unit, you have to understand the limitations and learn to be happy with it. If I had to do it again I’d go with the same Phoenix unit again. But a lot of people today are going with the Grom piggyback unit that allows you to run CarPlay on your stock setup. That’s a great way to go as well because it allows you to keep all of the OEM stuff in place and just add the piggyback unit for CarPlay integration

@NKPGarage
@NKPGarage 5 ай бұрын
@smody121 if you are not used to an android based head unit and your primary goal is to just get the sound working again I’d recommend getting your ML amp repaired or replaced. If you are looking for a large touchscreen and being able to run apps natively on your head unit and taking advantage of some of the other functions then the large screen setup is great. Also, keep in mind that the Phoenix setup doesn’t replace your amp. So either way you still have to get the amp functioning too in order to get it all working. I think on the 2013 your amp is under the passenger seat. Have you pulled the seat out to physically check the amp and wiring?
@smody121
@smody121 5 ай бұрын
@NKPGarage thanks again! We haven't pulled the amp yet, I'm inbetween homes so all my tools are in storage but I've checked fuses and all look good. Could maybe be a speaker too, but given how common I'm seeing amp problems I assumed it's crapped out. We have an android unit in our '08 RX and understand what you mean about getting used to the platform. My thought was to go ham and just get the Phoenix unit with a new amp and all new speakers and possibly upgrade the stock sub and add a sub amp as well. Not sure how much of that will be necessary until I can test each component but we just bought the truck so a clean slate sounds appealing.
@NKPGarage
@NKPGarage 5 ай бұрын
@smody121 sounds like you have a solid plan. I’m in a 2017 LX570 now and installed the CarPlay add on. But I do miss having an android head unit. If you can find a local place that does radio and amp repair they can usually open up the amp and replace the bits that have burnt out without too much trouble. Also a good idea to keep an eye on eBay or the local junk yard for a used one. I think 2013-2015 should be the same ML amp. May also want to cross reference the part number to 2011/2012, they might be the same too. Good luck! 👍

Great job sir!, i am waiting for my unit to arrive. I am also going to change the overhead monitor for an aftermarket one. when i disconnected the overhead monitor my oem Mark levinson system lost sound so i plugged it back until i get everything installed. I have a couple of questions, hope you dont mind. did you use existing wires for the aftermarket overhead monitor or you had the new unit installed with new wires? If you use new wires, how did you cancel the wires for the oem monitor?
@NKPGarage
@NKPGarage Жыл бұрын
That's interesting. I never tried unplugging the OEM roof screen with the factory radio still in place. But with the aftermarket large screen radio installed, removing the OEM roof screen did not effect anything, audio still worked fine. And then with the new screen installed I just connected switched power to it with the wires that were already there in the roof. For audio I set it to broadcast over an unused FM station, or most of the time the kids just use their wireless headphones.
@RASAUS
@RASAUS Жыл бұрын
@NKPGarage thanks a lot. So did you wire the new monitor from scratch pretty much?
@NKPGarage
@NKPGarage Жыл бұрын
@@RASAUS for the roof monitor I just checked the existing wirin that was left over from removing the old roof monitor to determine which one was switched 12V, then used that to power the new monitor. That is all I hooked up to it, just power. For the large touchscreen radio it was mostly just plug and play, so no real modification of the old wiring, just take your time and make sure you are plugging things into the correct connectors.

I was one of the first ones in the community to buy one for the LX. So it was a few years ago. I think at the time I opted for the CarPlay and AndroidAuto add one. Then I purchased the 360 camera kit on Amazon. If I remember correctly I spent around $1200 for the head unit. And around $250 for the 369 camera kit at that time. But prices are slightly different now.

Triple check all the connectors and where you plugged them into. I ran into some odd issues the first time and I had to unplug all the connectors and pay close attention to which ones go where and then it all worked. If I remember correctly there were a couple that could easily be forced into the wrong connector if you weren’t paying attention. If you do that and still not getting sound it may be worth checking your fuses related to audio and make sure no fuses are blown

@@Donavon357 I'm trying to remember all the functions of the factory unit, it's been a couple years now since I have had this setup. Lets see..... All of the AC controls work, the hazard light button works, the factory amplifier works, the factory antenna system works. If your truck has the drop down screen for the back seats, that no longer works. You can leave it disabled or you can replace it with a more modern unit like I did. When I purchased mine, these were very new and at that time the factory front/rear/right side cameras did not work. But I have heard that some people got them working on more recent installs. Instead, I purchased an aftermarket 360 camera kit and installed that, which I like MUCH better. I did a quick vide of it here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fGG9lJykaLiepq8

Yes, the installation was relatively simple. The only confusing part was that they include a couple of extra harnesses that you don't need to use for a factory installation. I think they may be for additional accessories or something. From start to finish the install of the head unit took me about 90 minutes probably. If I did it again I could probably have it done in 30-45 minutes. The flip down display on the roof took a couple of hours since I had to figure out what wires to tap into for power and such.
