I think people need to adjust their mindset towards this car, I look at this car as a perfect compromise for a car enthusiast who wants a good daily driver that looks good, has some performance and is dead reliable, that car that will still be there when your fun car breaks down or as a one car solution you don't have to worry about but also won't make you fall asleep like a Corolla would. Would I prefer to daily a M2? Sure but that's not realistic as a reliable car you can just pile the miles onto and not worry about. The RC 350 is much more exciting than a Camry, Corolla, ES 350, Prius or any other daily driver friendly Toyota product while still having AWD for year round safety especially for us Canadians. If BMW made a dead reliable sports car you could daily, it would be no contest but because that's not the world we live in, the RC is a great choice as a daily, would I choose it as my fun sports car? No.

@danmcintosh49323 жыл бұрын
I’m not sure why people want to keep trying to compare this car to BMW, Mercedes , Audi’s and others. I own a RC 350 F sport , there are multitude of the above mentioned brands in my neighbourhood, nothing special, a dime a dozen and all probably leased. No one hangs on to a BMW for 10 years, you go through to many check engine lights! My buddies Mercedes spent more time in the shop and cost more in repairs in the 2 years than all of my Lexus and Infiniti cars combined (this is the 3rd Lexus, 2 Infiniti’s between my wife and me) I keep all of my cars for around 10 years and nothing I’ve found or seen is more reliable than Lexus. The RC is refined, comfortable, kind of sporty, not fast ( but I gave up road racing about 35 years ago) unique and won’t be spending a lot of time in the shop like the models it’s being compared to. There’s a reason you lease a BMW and other German “engineered” cars and buy a Lexus.
@insid34934 ай бұрын
You don't buy a Lexus because you want to be fast, noticed, or have all the attention. You buy a Lexus because you want comfort, reliably, and a great daily/driving experience. Lexus has always been more of a grand touring company than a racing company. That's why I like them. Quiet, comfortable, reliable.

I've had ours for just over a week now and I really love it! The design is unique and very interesting with the many angular lines. Almost went towards the LFA but reeled it back into what we see here. It is a very well handling, powerful and probably one of the easiest to drive GT or lux-performance cars on the road. Lexus is not focused on speed. but it did give the RC more than enough to handle itself very well. What he calls floatly is actually an ultra smooth and comfortable ride. The seats are both comfortable and supportive as well as being very well designed. The fit of the interior is second to none....even those costing double or triple the RC. BTW, the base on my car was $54,000 and with options and taxes, it was around the $64,000 bracket. I can't believe most of those reviewing Lexus products are surprised there isn't more available power but that is not what Lexus is seeking with the RC. You want fast and rough, BMW not Lexus. I would much rather be comfortable surrounded by premium materials than a noisy poorly designed interior.

hurts to see you car thrashed like that ..🥲 but Mr Goose was spot on. Having this as my first “sporty” car though probably saved my life since i hopped in and drove it like a complete tool from the moment i bought it till now. It has just enough excitement to be fun but not uncontrollable. Really excited for the is500 review because i want to upgrade soon and i’m torn between that or a lotus (i know random).

i was very surprised to hear the praise at the end of the driving section about how after all that you still wanted to drive it over other press cars and your cars and that it looked special and such. i agree though, when you compare it to a 4 series, its not gonna grab any buyers unless theyre fed up with it being in the shop all the time and dicking around while it gets fixed lol

The kind of Lexus RC 350 F Sport AWD buyers are older buyers with old school mentalities. They are fine with older technologies especially like the CD player, analog and digital clocks. If the car works, why change it? We are expecting sporty looks with the priority on luxury. Most importantly, we expect everything like: AWD convenience, durability, and the powerful 311 horsepower. Lexus technology with the Enform permits me to start or stop the RC with a Smart Phone. Additionally, if the Lexus is stolen, there is a GPS map displaying what roads the Lexus traveling on. Personally, I had the Porsche Cayenne S AWD, but with all the fancy technologies and it was a great disappointment. The Porsche was always in the shop for weeks, then Porsche would give me a Enterprise rental car when I was paying $1,700 on a lease payment. Most of the European cars have a seven year reliability, when Japanese cars can last forever. In ending, older Lexus owners are happy with the car as dependable. I paid $61,000 with all the bells and whistles. Also with an eight year extended warranty, zero deductible from Lexus, all fees and taxed included. Finding Audi's BMW or Benz's are a lot more money than Lexus. I did like some of points of Lexus flaws such as the the extra hump in the driver's area because of the AWD and the AWD's limitation of six speed transmission, however an averaged sized driver is OK with the hump. Bottom line, no car is perfect!

My feelings are 180 opposite this video. I’ve owned three of these: 2017, 2021, and now 2023. I have zero problem with it. I’m not sure I’d enjoy an overhaul because it wouldn’t be this car anymore. It’s very beautiful, I get compliments, I love what it’s about. I find it totally powerful enough for what I need. 0-60 in 5.8 and 311 hp is as much as anyone could possibly need. I don’t even hear (tbh) the synthesized engine noise. No one riding with me hears it either. The only storage I make use of is the center console. The ride and handling are perfect for me. I don’t need the paddle shifters and have never used them. And yet I still find it fun to drive, comfortable, and a head turner. I guess we all look for and value different things in a car.

I bought an RC350 AWD F-Sport back in 2015 and then upgraded to an RC-F. To each their own, but I loved it. Of course the RC-F is far better and fits the styling, but the RC350 was a great car. Side note -- the IS500 will be in a different price point, so these aren't exactly the same car despite the numerous similarities.

Interior quality is great, the mix of digital + analog center gauge is definitely a nice touch that I personally WANT to see stay. Exterior design is unique, less "cookie cutter." I am personally a fan of the wide/aggressive front grille designs. The sliding/moving gauge is also a neat "quirks and features". 100% agree with the infotainment and center console, though. Lexus Inform is a pain in the ass to use, having gotten in a bunch of RX / NX/ UX / IS / ES years + models myself, it sucks, and my close friends who owns 2018+ Lexus' will agree; just use Android Auto or Apple Carplay, and forget Lexus Inform exists for day-to-day.

I think most the people buying this aren’t seeking performance. You nailed it that Lexus knows their market, and focused on that demographics. Style, ride quality and reliability. To an enthusiast the transmission is a disappointment, but we all know 99% of RC350 AWD buyers are using it daily and will never manually shift it.

I have an IS350 Fsport RWD, I either drive in manual mode in S# or auto in eco-mode. I test drove an AWD IS350 Fsport before I bought the RWD, because I live in New England, that 6 speed was a wet blanket, and the paddles were just a suggestion in the 6spd, where as in the 8spd they are great, the RWD handles winter fine, if you're scared leave the nannies on, snow tires are good enough. There is a resonator on the intake tube that amplifies the induction noise. It's such a good daily, it feels and looks well screwed together, I miss having a stick shift though, but will drive the IS into the ground and focus on my project car since I don't have to work on the IS, ever. Wish I had heard the IS500 rumors before I bought the 350 though, more cylinders are better.
@smsweeney3 жыл бұрын
Also in New England, jealous that you snagged an RWD model. The 6 speed on my AWD IS350 does in fact suck most of the sportiness from the car. Did you have to do a custom order? I couldn’t find any in stock around here.
@yoshi24132 жыл бұрын
A couple mishaps. Don’t hate on the V6, the 2gr-fse is a great engine and “just because it isn’t a v8” doesn’t make it non performance. 300 horsepower is performance buddy. Also, comparing shifting to modern cars is ironically just incorrect. Most modern cars have CVT trannies… which don’t have gears so “butter smooth” shifting wouldn’t be exactly right. And CVTS are flat out ass lol.

I am sort of a royal Lexus fan, enjoying the reliability and luxury comfort, and definitely not a European car fan. Lexus wanted to have a coupe in their stable, and an AWD for those who needed it. No one would mistaken a Lexus for a sport car with stiff suspension or for super handling, nor wanted to shift manually, Luxury and comfort are the main purpose. I just have to discuss with my wife if we should trade the RX350 or the ES350 for an RC.

I don't know. Looks great, has those great interior material, legendary Toyota/Lexus reliability, and is pretty quick. Plus, it's AWD, so fine for winter driving. The fake engine noise is annoying, but that's a given these days, unfortunately. I like it.

Its a great car for daily if you can get it for a good price.

I had a RC 350 F Sort in Australia 3 yrs ago, we don't get AWD but we do get it with the 8 speed Auto which made it very smooth and a little more refined. It was my weekend drive and was perfect for that huge amounts of fun. Your review is spot on it needs a full overhaul, it has a fantastic look and I think Lexus could make something special with this if they really wanted. Just add the twin turbo V6 and remove some clutter from the interior. The IS looks fantastic but again the 3.5 ltr is a bit of a let down. Thanks really enjoyed this review. Brenton 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺

You and Scott gave the RC350 RWD a pretty glowing review just a few years ago. Have your tastes changed, is the AWD that bad, or have cars just come that far?
@SSAsianAgent3 жыл бұрын
I think it’s both - if you look at the competitors (The German 3) the Lexus’s numbers just haven’t kept up. Less power, less efficient, less handling capability, not to mention infotainment. When you spec-sheet it against the 240i, S5, or CLA 45, it seems like a very bad value proposition. But, as noted also in this review and the 2015 one, with Lexus, there’s still just something different, especially with regards to the interior space, build quality/reliability. The N/A engine is also one of the last in the segment. The AWD and 6spd transmission does hurt the car though - the 8spd is a pretty decent auto and the RWD lets you have some fun. If I’m not mistaken, Mark has an LC, so I don’t think his tastes have really changed much IMO.

This seems to be the first time you are doing a direct comparison of with vs. without fake engine noise and you managed to do it in a very clumsy way. How about also doing one speedup to redline with and then one without after that? (I mean, the quick comparison at static rev was good for the most easy perception of the difference, in a synthetic way, but that's not giving us an impression of how it actually sounds to drive the car. I assume the footage towards the end is without it. I guess I'd have to jump around in the video and try to catch two segments for comparison.)
