Lexus RX 2023 review: New RX500h turbo hybrid aims for BMW X5 and Audi Q7 alongside RX350 and RX350h

The redesigned 2023 Lexus RX, including new hybrids, might look similar, but it’s a revolution inside and underneath, making this a fierce large luxury SUV alternative to the BMW X5 and Volvo XC90.
Key changes include a new platform (Toyota New Global Architecture) shared with other Lexus and Toyota products of late, as well as a hybrid turbo first in the guise of the 500h F Sport Performance AWD. This combines frugality with punch, giving strong acceleration. There’s also a 350 turbo, but most buyers are expected to choose the 350h hybrid - which also happens to be the base powertrain choice now.
Inside, Lexus has completely overhauled the dashboard, with a new 14-inch touchscreen dominating. It is far simpler and more intuitive to use, while the company has moved away from the old button fest, for a more nuanced and logical layout.

The naturally aspirated 4 cylinder engine borrowed from a Toyota Camry is really a let down considering the premium price your paying for an entry level model you’d think Lexus would put a more powerful engine as with the previous generation which had a v6 in entry level models & awd as standard
