If that's true then holy shit man. Coach means nothing, GM means nothing, fans mean nothing, but Ovi speaks and your frame of mind changes? That is either incorrect or ridiculous.
@dylanroach30225 жыл бұрын
@@timwaldron7599 the Leafs came out last night with a way higher intensity than I've seen in any other Leaf game this year. I think they were trying to prove a point not to Ovechkin but to the organization and the fans that they can play physically and for each other. Unfortunately the special teams remained an issue but they have 82 games to figure that out. I don't care whether it was a great Babcock pregame speech, or Ovi's comment, or nothing at all but there were good signs throughout that entire game.
@timwaldron75995 жыл бұрын
Dylan Roach It isn’t even the end of October. The Caps won their cup after everyone wrote them off, and ask TB how much the regular season, much less EARLY regular season matters in the end. Don’t read that much into one game, good or bad. The Leafs and their fans need to relax on the highs and the lows, and let this team learn to win. From what I’ve seen that doesn’t seem to be possible though, too many people freaking out about every little thing to let these guys just play the game.... sad but true.

For a single game thats just above average. Most teams with a good power play get nights where they have outliers of 3/4 but other nights where they go 1/6. Once you get a big sample size 29% is great, but a 2/7 night can certainly be characterized as "not that good"

(*nerd glasses on*) yellow vs. gold. Always irks me too, then a friend who's a soccer ref explained it to me. Most, if not all, refereed sports have a rule where the color, at least on the official scorebook, has to be -one syllable-. I guess its so that the official scorer can more easily tell which team is which??? It's silly, yes, but it's why, well, yellow is gold. A famous example of this were the LA Kings 1st and 3rd gen sweaters that were purple. For rules sake, the color was officially called "Forum Blue"... butcomeon. also welcome to the Badger Den #HUFFLYFE

On your Dangle podcast you mentioned NBA reffing.Got me thinking about the Bulls making it past the Pistons in the 90's. The Bulls got mugged time and again no calls for the first few years.(Think Bill Laimbeer) Similar to the Caps it's like the Bulls had to earn their way to the Cup. That's why I thought that Ovechkin was doing them a favour with his comment. Loved seeing Matthews give it back in front of the net last night. Get your hands up Matty opposition always goes for the head.

Leafs look good in my opinion. It's a young new team, last few years teams that just make it in the playoffs are the ones who go far, case and point the Blues. I don't think the Leafs are going to win the cup this year but lets see who perform under pressure and follows the game plan. Lots of talent to use as trade bait to fill the roles needed to build a winner. 2023-24 in my opinion. Leafs are on the right track.

We need some size and grit, I would gladly have if possible a Tom Wilson and Ryan Reaves type players on this team. I don’t think we’ll know if the Leafs are cup contenders until probably the new year. Saying the obvious, and I understand I’ll get a lot of flack for this, but I’m going to say it anyways. If this pace keeps up, they’d be a wildcard team at best and, at worst, they’ll miss the playoffs. But if they can get some consistency going, and can string a few wins together over the next few months, they might be good enough to win a round or two. But it goes back to that same old feeling I had a few games ago. I just don’t think this team is good enough to win the cup. It’s gotta be the defence or the goaltending. Their forward depth is insane and the depth they’ve got up front is something to be extremely proud of.
