The reason I cover every team is, in part, the constant pain the Canucks have put me through for four decades. It was about a decade ago I first got the NHL Center Ice package so I had other teams I could watch whenever I wanted to. I had to branch out. The red on Riitch's pads is weird. Steve, you bring a lot of entertainment and joy into people's lives. I won't minimize your feelings. They are real and legitimate. I will say in this pandemic, a lot of people are feeling it. Not just in a depression sense. There was a good column in the NY Times about it - we're languishing. We may be able to function, but few of us are our best selves. It can be hard to stay motivated or be excited about the future in this neverending doom we find ourselves in. The Leafs playing like that doesn't help. Being a Leafs fan is part of your job, strange as it is. It's completely understandable that you don't feel up for it right now. I know I, and many, aren't feeling all that up to our own jobs right now too. Best wishes to you.

Steve, I'm a Canucks fan, and I absolutely, with an almost from the depth of my soul hatred of the Leafs, watch your show, respect your love for your team, and understand where you're coming from. After the trade deadline and the moves we made, I almost wanted to be able to throw my jersey on the ice, and I love my team. I've cheered for them, I've yelled for and at them, and bleed for them. The fact that people question the fact that a person can be passionate about this, fills me with thoughts of ....how can you not?? I'm not built that way, and it is fun to see that we aren't alone in that. The 2 games this week, I expected Toronto to come out and just shellack my team. I expected 8-0 after the first period of the first game. I expected revenge in game 2. The fact that my team got those 4 points, that there is hope in a season where we expected our team to not only finish bottom 3, but not even finish the season, and that people are contemplating sweeping the sens and going to the playoffs....OMG!!!??? Hockey is a funny thing, and you never know what you're going to get. Keep going, and maybe it's time to be...in.

One thing I think is a pretty major problem with the Leafs is the coach. I know he's done a good job getting this team to play some real defense this year, but there's so many asinine decisions that I think are contributing to losing all of these games, or just playing poorly. Like take for example having the defense go on the rush so much the last 7 or so games - why are our defense doing that? I've never seen so many 2-on-1's or breakaways against the Leafs during any other point this season. Obviously they are being told to do this... but it's really hurt our defense massively the last few weeks. And what about the line changes? Why are they different every fucking game for? Why can't we let our players build some chemistry and some winning habits with? Galchenyuk was actually playing well with Tavares - why did that stop? Why flip the defense pairs? I was in disbelief looking at the Rogers game center what some of the lines were the last few games.... some really bizarre combinations. You look at the top teams in the league, and they are NOT CHANGING THEIR FUCKING LINES. We are 10 games away from the playoffs - why don't we know our fucking lines yet??? And why are we playing Thornton so much? Why are we not giving him a rest? And why the hell are we not 30% on our powerplay? Is it really so hard to tell these people to shoot the puck as it approaches your stick? They waste so much time passing and passing, or they wait 3 seconds to corral the puck and let their defense and goalie get into position rather than just shooting it immediately. This is why we get so many blocked shots each game. Galchenyuk is the only player I see regularly rip a one-timer properly on the power play, and they never pass to him. Why can't we work on our zone entries to bring the puck in more cleanly and reduce turnovers?? This is killing our game massively. All of these are coaching problems. I haven't heard anything from anyone that Keefe might be the problem, but it's not nothing to me. And then you have guys like Hyman who appear fairly frustrated on the ice the last couple of games before he was injured. And Nylander missing the team meeting. And sometimes guys just not playing. And I have to wonder, is all right with the relationship between the coaching staff and the team? Is all right with the locker room? I really wish I was a fly on the wall.

I would add that not only has Reilly’s game looked off all year, but he looks physically MISERABLE out there. Body language like that is concerning when he’s such an important part of the team

This video is surprisingly cathartic. It's almost universal when he's talking about struggling with the leafs. It applies to my life a little too much right now. Hockey always finds a way.

Hate to see you like this, Steve. You’re incredible for doing this for 14 years. Your success is based on being the voice to all of leafs nation’s feelings. You don’t just do it for hockey, either- you do it for life too, sometimes. I for one appreciate it.

Steve, through good times and bad, you have been the best part of being a Leafs fan for the last 10 years of my life. If you choose to stop making LFRs, I will totally understand but just know how much I and so many others have loved your Leafs videos and will miss them when they’re gone. Hope you and your family are well, Steve. Hope you’re looking after yourself.

"Would it be irresponsible to let my son cheer for the Leafs?" Steve, I was born in 1967 when the Leafs last won the cup. I've suffered through decades of Leaf misery, including the 1980s, when they were horrible. I enjoyed the good Leafs team of the early 90's and the good Sundin teams and especially, this version with the young guns. Along the way, I've lived through all of the Leafs disappointments and as my boys grew up, 2 out of 3 have joined me as die hard Leaf fans. We watch most every game and then we watch LFR. It's a great bonding experience with them, win or lose, whether we're blowing a 4-1 lead in the 3rd period of game 7, or losing game 7 or losing game 7 or losing in the 1st round of the playoffs or losing in the first round of the playoffs or losing to a Zamboni driver, it's a lot of fun and I wouldn't trade it for anything. So, I think it's not irresponsible to let your son cheer for the Leafs, so long as it's his choice and you clearly tell him about the painful path of misery that a Leaf fan must endure.

I am right there with ya Steve. It is the phenomenon that is the Leafs where they seem to be easy to coach against. Take away time and space and they can't find a way through the challenge. It is incredible that they are the asterisk in every off chance that other teams cash in on. Could be supernatural or could be that we hang out hopes on a team that is paying attention to the sadness that is the current world we live in. Who knows but I am going to love it when they surprise us all and play to their potential despite the other teams effort.

No joke Steve. I have a passion for the leafs. And I want them to win I REALLY DO (unfortunately or Fortunately) the world moves on no matter what I say or who I cheer for. I think the though of no more LFR should have never been spoken. You have a gift and a platform with many viewers that like it or not kinda wish they were you. (Give iggy a Treat (he prob would have stopped a couple of those shots) give Leo a snuggle (and prob a clean diaper) and know that EVERYTHING IS GOING TO BE ALRIGHT

One day, a friend of mine woke up to find out his hero, Frank Mahovlich, had been traded and it broke his heart. He's still watching Leaf games. I saw how Ballard treated my childhood hero, Dave Keon. We saw a competitive team torn apart when they traded Lanny MacDonald, out of spite. And we've been along for the ride for all the shitty things that have happened along the way. We're near the end here. This is a blip. It may not seem so, but it's a blip. This core will win a cup. Don't get all 10 ply on us bud.
