This is a dreadfully bitter-sweet reaction man - an amazing anthem as you correctly say, yet Freddie was facing his own death at the time of recording. His diagnosis of AIDS was not revealed until the day before he passed away, yet he gave so much of his energy and soul into making his final recordings and appearances. As anyone watching his late videos would realise, he was a shadow of the live performer he had been from the 70s to the mid 90's. As mannipf mentions, he was too ill to shoot any videos anymore, so this is comprised of live and promo videos, outtakes etc that reference the band's amazing history up to this point (I love the way he opens up a door to show the band videos from the past). It's an incredibly motivational song, from an amazing artist who was facing his own mortality from an illness no-one truly understood then. His death affected so many musicians and fans, and prompted increased activism and research into treatment to the point today where the disease can be treated permanently, if not yet cured. He has left an incredible legacy for us all. For that, let along the great music, we owe him a great deal of gratitude. d

Queen put this song as the last track on the last album released while Freddie Mercury was alive in 1991 called 'Innuendo'... it was recorded while Freddie was on his final days from AIDS and captured the sadness he was experiencing, knowing he was going to die soon 😷 He appeared on the video for the song 'Days of our lives' and he looked thin & frail... that was Freddie's last appearance. They had to use older music videos to make more video singles from 'Innuendo'... Freddie admirably kept recording vocal tracks in 1991 for a future Queen album which he wanted completed after he passed away... By the fall of 1991, he was too sick to work in the studio and returned home in England, where he passed away in November that year. Queen finally released their final studio album 'Made in heaven' in 1995.

It was cool that you concentrated on themusic and didn't let the video interfere with your thoughts. Those were all cuts from Queen's many very creative videos and some from performances. Most Queen fans have seen them all, so they have meaning for us. The concert with all the people that you asked about was Freddie's last concert with Queen in 1986 at Knebworth. I think there were 130,000 people there. They had sold out two concerts at Wembley earlier in the sumnmer, and there was still a lot of demand for tickets, so they scheduled one more for the last of the season...it sold out immediately.

The footage of Queen in concert; showing all of the people in the crowd, was from their last live show @ Knebworth Park. That event had up to 125,000 people. You're correct when you said this was a collage; because it was. When this video was released on MTV in 1991, it was a few days after Freddie Mercury had died from what doctors described as "Bronchial-pneumonia"; brought on by his contraction of HIV and the AIDS virus. The metaphor for this video is that while Freddie may be gone; his music still remains.. and it carries on...through new generations of fans who are discovering Queen either through their music or through the Bohemian Rhapsody movie.

Queen + Adam Lambert do a great rendition of this song in honor of the amazing Freddie Mercury. Adam has a great voice and he's very campy and fun, but of course he's no Freddie. The thing I like is that he doesn't try to be. Nobody on the planet is, or ever will be. If you're looking for a different side of Freddie, I highly suggest my (probably) favorite song, "Love of My Life." It's just Brian on accoustic 12 string and Freddie singing. The music video is a collage, yes, because, at that point, Freddie Mercury was too ill, almost bedridden. A sad fact I know is that this song was released as a single on October 12th 1991, the same day Freddie stopped taking his medication for AIDS (at that time the medication did not stop the virus from killing you, and had lots of nasty side effects). The reason there was no live video because Freddie was dying and did not want to appear live, but later changed his mind. He wanted to say goodbye to his fans more than worrying about how sick he looked. So brave. He kept on asking Brian to write him so that he had a reason to get up and also to put out an album after he was gone. You're right it is a very motivational song but Brian especially wrote it from the point of view what Freddie was going thru: "I getting warmer now..I'll soon be turning round the corner now...I'm aching to be free..." He gulped a shot of vodka and belted it out in one take of a man who knew his imminent fate. Before doing the later stuff do; NOW I'M HERE, live at Wembley 1986 (he suspected that he might be getting symptoms but was not diagnosesd until a year later) ...this song is high high energy by all the band members!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
