This is the greatest live band there ever was. You’re right: as great as this is, you have to see it live from the Fillmore before October 29, 1971, when Duane Allman was killed in a motorcycle wreck. You will be amazed. They bought a farm and all lived there with their families and played music all day and developed a telepathic connection that I’ve never seen anywhere else. They never played a song exactly the same way twice. Master musicians. Anything from the Fillmore, ‘Eat a Peach’, “One Way Out”, “In Memory of Elizabeth Reed”, “Dreams”, “Statesboro Blues”, “Blue Sky “, “”Les Brers in A minor”, “Melissa”, “Jessica”, or Duane’s “Little Martha”, but first “Whipping Post” from the Fillmore East, the best 20 minutes you may ever spend. Peace.

Gregg Allman, his brother, may be the greatest blues singer. Dickey Betts is the other guitar player and wrote some great songs (also a great guitar player). I recommend you react to these Allman Brothers songs 1) One Way Out 2) Blue Sky 3) Statesboro Blues and 4) Black Hearted Woman.

Live at Fillmore East, considered one of the greatest live albums ever recorded. Duane Allman is in the top ten best guitarist of all time. Then you put Duane and Dickey Betts together and it’s pure magic. (I’ve only ever seen one other dual team as good as they were and that was Don Felder and Joe Walsh.). You can easily tell them apart by Duane’s gritty, raw slide playing and Dickeys clean, crisp notes. You’re also right about Greg Allman’s vocals. Totally recognizable. Plus he played the keyboard, harmonica and even sometimes the guitar. They had two drummers, Jai Johansson and Butch Trucks. The were perfection and then the bassist was Barry Oakley who was as good a bassist I’ve ever seen. Anyway, I don’t know what Lathe D. below is talking about with them being telepathic but hey, 😂
