Fun fact: The Beastie Boys gave Rick Rubin a copy of LL Cool J's demo. When The Beastie Boys were installed in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame LL gave a really good speech about how he owed his career to these guys. It's on KZbin so check it out when you have time.

I nearly passed out from excitement and jealousy. My 30+ year long love of the Beastie Boys wanted to beg him to put Mike on the phone or let me come by on a trumped up pretense of picking him up. But my love of my nephew and not wanting to be "that guy" won the day.

The Beastie Boys produced this album themselves with Mario Caldato. They also played all the instruments themselves. This is based on a break by The Southside Movement from a track called I’ve Been Watching You, but rather than sampling it they replayed it and made it their own in a number of ways.

They created things in the 90s no one has been able to recreate since. They brought to the rap and rock industry something much needed...unity. They blew our minds in 86 and never stopped...like a non-stop tornado bouncing through our eardrums. And we still love it! 😀

so the early videos were produced by the record label but later during the 90's MCA's Uncle from Switzerland Nathanial Hornblower directed a lot of them. A very prolific Swiss director who had all the original ideas for star wars (Might wanna google that). Oh sabotage was directed by the legendery director Spike Jonez

Rick Rubin actually only produced their first record. They had a falling out with Def Jam after their first album over royalties.

Rip MCA.. Saw them live in 1986.... There is nobody better.. Never sold out . 3 MC's and one DJ.....that is them on fire... Also live on letterman...

@@jeter1194 that's cool man. It's was the license to I'll tour with LL cool j. I remember here in the UK or here in Manchester . The powers that be tried to get them banned due to some girls dancing in cages. Seems so trivial these days. But it was a bit of a big deal back then. Thank God they didn't ban them..
