I was raised by my grandfather. We would watch all the chaos going on in the 70's on our rural little farm. He would tell me many rules a good man should live by. One of those rules was to never use the color of my skin as an excuse for personal weaknesses. And another was to respect all people until they give you reason not to. Rules I still live by.

My ex from Congo watched this and didn’t get overly emotional, I told her about the current slave trade between Saudi states and Africa which is larger than any slave trade in history and she wasn’t so emotional, but she went all in on BLM, and that was so sad to see because she kept using her skin to excuse her simply not working or building something for herself, and she became basically impossible to date, and there will be hundreds of thousands of young women and men like her today

The first slave owner in the future US was an African indentured servant from 1619. He brought people over from Africa under an indentured servitude contract and successfully argued that one of them was bound to him for life. This is allowed through English Common Law under a debtor's contract and still exists today in places like India. It even expands to multi-generational contracts. In the US these types of contracts were abolished long before the civil war. Nearly all debts are abolished during bankruptcy with the exception of Student Loans and those will probably be challenged in the coming years.

IF Thomas Sowell books were made mandatory reading in black communities, not only would they have a Bonafide home grown U.S.A. born and breed HERO...it would completely transform and INFORM the culture and propel the community to atmospheric levels. He is one of the greatest mind of the 20th century, yet Mr. Sowell is all but unknown by black communities (how can this be?) It only takes ONE person...to change the world. Although...I would say VAN is giving it one heck of an effort! Bravo Van...thank you for your bravery!

Hats off to Thomas Sowell for speaking truth and facts to the false popular social narrative. Most people just go along without questioning the narrative because it's the easy and popular thing to do. Questioning requires examination and thinking, which he has done. Sowell and others know that it's difficult to point out deception to the deceived because they hate to admit being fooled for so long by so many... it's VERY uncomfortable.

What exactly is "faith" directed at in this statement? Faith in what? Usually it's directed at the existence of the Christian God, which then in turn, purports fear. In Christianity, it's essential for fear and faith to exist in the same place. Although I am not Christian, I still don't understand this statement, nor do I understand why people are moved by it. Fear, is a natural response when facing mortal adversity. If you think that you can invest enough faith into anything and become impervious to fear, you're either wrong, or you're a sociopath. Or perhaps a bit unhinged due to relentless fanaticism. If, by chance, the statement implies that faith is in one's self, I can stomach it, but I don't see any significant power in it.

There's a book called "Barracoon: The Story of the Last Black Cargo" that you should read, if you haven't already. It's a biography of the last living slave (known at the time) in the US to make the journey across the Atlantic, Cudjoe Lewis. The author interviewed him in 1927, but the book wasn't published until 2018 (58 years after the author died). He gave her his account of his village being raided by a neighboring tribe when he was a teen, the men slaughtered and dismembered, the women and children sold as slaves. This kind of brutality served 2 purposes. It eliminated nearby enemies/competitors, and it filled the conqueror's pockets. It's also not unique. Most of human history worldwide has been a cycle of violence and subjugation.

Regrettably this and most facts about universal human cruelty throughout history has been funneled into the demonization of one race and taken to the extremes in current social agendas. It is human nature to knock the powerful from their perches, not for the good of all, but to install ourselves in their place. The problem with this is that throughout history most new rulers are just as bad or worse than the deposed.

One thing not mentioned here was how the Irish where taken to the west and put into indentured servitude. The women were used to make more slaves by being forced to mate with African men. This would save the slave owner a lot of money and also allow for trading women for other African males. Indentured servitude was a work off system giving false hope of working for your freedom. Most owners would tack on years to their time for small things like breaking a dish or staining a shirt. This in itself was a form of slavery. So even the children of African men and indentured servants where born into a form of slavery. The whole ordeal was tragic. it's both scary and nice to hear how many people don't know this. it's scary because of how easy it is to find out if you look for just the shortest amount of time, and if you believe something, it should be because you know that thing. but it's nice to know that many hateful people are mad because of their not knowing the truth and just believing myths.

If more kids had fathers like you, the world would be a better place. You’re a blessing to us, because getting to go on this journey with you is educational and heart warming. And you’re absolutely a blessing to your wife and kids, because it takes a REAL man to seek truth and buck the popular opinion for your morals and beliefs…and that’s an example you’re setting for your kids that’s worth it’s weight in gold.

She said 'I wanna give my people something to HATE' ! Hit me in my heart to hear the truth of such an evil act from that man and every other person who uses pain and ignorance of to create more pain.

I remember having Roots played almost every year in grade school. While I know what was depicted likely happened I didn't realize the likely purpose of the show's creation had such a negative goal.

I appreciate this history lesson. This stuff should be taught in schools. Starting at the elementary level. Together we can make change and live in peace. Respect EVERYONE. Appreciate each others differences.

This video was so informative. I only wish everyone in this country can see this. I know in my heart that if we can teach this in our schools we would all heal. We are being played by this government to hate each other. All American's, of every color, must stand strong against this evil trying to separate us.

Divide and conquer. The classic control policy works well when it is done well. And modern media and propaganda now mwkes it even easier to do well.

you obviously took very little knowledge from this with that comment, maybe you'll listen to black redneck white liberal all the way through to know it was/is a worldwide problem not just a color problem, you just got the benefits of being alive after the fact.

LaKeesha, your comments about shaming ourselves through our personal actions and culture is spot on! I’m a white female and this applies to all of us. We ALLOW too much and expect far too LITTLE of ourselves. We are our own worst enemies in many instances. We need to respect ourselves first. A brilliant, inspired man of God named Gordon B. Hinkley once said (and this is not a direct quote word for word): The best way to raise self-esteem is to learn to work hard and accomplish something. I have found that to be true in my own life and I most certainly did not come from a privileged background. My dad taught me that there was always a way to accomplish a task. Always. That one lesson has served me well my entire life in conjunction with my faith in God. With those two tools, nothing REALLY seems impossible. Good bless you both. ❤️
