Hi, how is the ultrawide on C3? Waiting mine delivered
@Recover47 Жыл бұрын
Ty for the tips on how to set up ultrawide mode, watched few other videos and finally got it to work after this one. I bought the LG C2 48 for following reasons: 1. Glossy screen for better image. 2. More desktop space for multi tasking. 3. When use in a bright environment, the black won't turn to grey like Alienware does. 4. If it doesn't work well, at least I got a decent TV. It's been 2 weeks, I'm very glad for the decision. My only fear right now is about burn in since I use 100% brightness 10+ hours a day. BIG BUT: if you play FPS or anything competitive, go for the Alienware solely for the higher refresh rate. I had a 175hz IPS for 5 years before upgrading to C2, the difference between 170 and 120 is very obvious and will most definitely lower your performance. Also, Alienware's 3-year warranty should be put into your decision making.

Are you not concerned though of the added risk of burn in? If you constantly use it as ultrawide and then switch to 16:9 ratio, you may see horizontal lines. I just got an open box C3 42 inch from best buy for $535 (couldnt resist at that price) has 1 dead pixel on the bottom right corner barely noticable. I came from a 38 inch lg ultrawide, going back to 16:9 just feels so zoomed in.

@@SticksUWP if you are using either as a monitor for work where you will have some “down time” where things are not moving on the screen or low acotovify the c2 goes into a very dim mode to protect the oled screen. You can get a service remote and turn it off if you want however I didn’t want to risk that personally. I like the aw3423dw as a monitor better but only by a little. Seriously both are amazing and you can’t go wrong. If ultrawide isn’t your thing, lg c2 for sure. If you are ok with a wide but “shorter” screen in the ultrawide the aw3423dw is fantastic.

I have a 4090 and I am so torn on which monitor to get! Either the 42" LG C2 or the new Alienware AW3423dw. One moment I will go with one and then the next moment I will go with the other. They both have their advantages. Which one would you recommend? My PC is primarily for gaming, but I am also a video editor and I do work from home on occasion.
@ultrawidenexus Жыл бұрын
I know what you mean, hence I just got both. But if you could only choose one, I would go with the C2 for all the reason I mentioned. Flexibility is the ultimate deciding factor. Gaming on the C2 feel a bit more snappy than AW, even though AW has higher refresh. Editing video on either works just fine. ABL is not that intrusive w/ the C2, greatly improved.

Hmm, after running TV as a monitor for around 5 years (it was an LCD from 2013) I switched back to monitors after that. TVs have all sorts of weird quirks that became increasingly annoying over time. And reading up on the folks that got the C2 stopped using it because of the intrusive ABL nonsense. I'm interested to see how this display handles the heavy use of ultrawide resolutions on an OLED, as the diode wear is going to be super uneven. Also, the pixel density leaves a lot to be desired which would be an issue for text on screen. For example a 42 inch, 4K LG C2 has a pixel density of 104 PPI vs 109 PPI on your 34 inch ultrawide at 3440x1440p. Combine that with the recommended viewing distance for a screen of that size is quite a ways back compared to the ultrawide. I don't know man, I'm looking forward to your impressions on this one a year from now.
@ultrawidenexus2 жыл бұрын
Those are all valid points and same reasons I hesitated to grab this TV when it released earlier in the year. I did forget to mention not to buy this tv for work but strictly gaming and light desktop usage. Although, ABL can be disabled, oddly it hasn't bothered me as much as before with the C9. It could be my settings but it is way less intrusive than the C9.
@RicochetForce2 жыл бұрын
@@ultrawidenexus Yeah, I heard the ABL is way less aggressive on the C2 (and even lower on QD-OLED TVs in general because they're designed to be less burn-in prone+large heatsinks). Is the text on the C2 an issue? These WOLED TVs have non-standard subpixel structures that don't really play well with Windows text rendering.
@ultrawidenexus2 жыл бұрын
@@RicochetForce supposedly alienware oled doesn't have good text but I never find it a problem. The same with the C2, both nice and clear. I guess if you want to put it under a microscope you could find problem but for everyday normal use I don't see any issue.

@@ultrawidenexus Yeah, it depends on whether you're sensitive to it (same with with OLED light handling can irritate some people's eyes). It makes text edge appears to be blurrier than they are, with an effect similar to chromatic abberation.

I settled back to my acer x38 IPS due to it being more immersive in games with no black bars unlike on C2. The C2 is incredible TV but ultimately the black bars on top/bottom did bother me over time. The alienware is also a nice monitor but 34' is too small for immersive gaming and it doesn't fully utilize the my 4090. 38in ultrawide oled is my ultimate monitor but still waiting :)
@jamyjet Жыл бұрын
I'm really torn between swapping my QD oled ultrawide for the LG 42 inch as a monitor. My 4090 is pretty regularly being bottlenecked by my 12900K in open world games and the 1440p just doesn't look that good imo. But 42 inches just seems too big for a desk and I'd be using it to work from home too which most people say this tv isn't that great for ;(

I agree. I only do dldsr with that Alienware or it looks blurry in games. Like any TV, light work on it is fine but anything 5-6 daily, better to get a dedicated monitor. C2 is excellent as a gaming monitor but I recommend 91cm desk clearance
