In the UK, when you try to buy a larger size from 40" let's say, the cost of the display is so high, that you can buy a 2nd TV for. Only the newest models which cost more and use cheaper displays are worth still fixing. But, to be true, least people I know replacing displays. If the price of the TV would be higher, or the price of the display would be cheaper, yes, than we would replace them. Otherwise, it will stay as is.
