I think in some situations, perfect blacks on an LG TV just don’t show through because of how mirror like the display can be. My S90C does have raised blacks in ambient light, which is frustrating, but it’s also incredibly usable and easy to see during the daytime, and that might be the more important thing. Sometimes I love being able to play a game with the window open on a nice day. Not everyone wants to play games in a cave all the time.

I got the 48 inch C4 for $1200 4th of July sale. The C3 looked interesting, but by all accounts the C4 is a better TV. This my 4th OLED (C6,C8,G1, and now C4) and the first one I'm using as my primary computer monitor. After looked at hours of long term monitor use, I felt happy about the purchase. Most people using it as a monitor who got some image retention were trying to produce burn in on purpose including turning off pixel cleaner. General use, it didn't appear to be a problem.

I wanted the 42 inch, but it was the same price as the 48 inch. My previous computer monitor was a 48 inch Sony 900E so I'm use to the 48 inch, but did want to downgrade. If the 42inch was $150 cheaper? I would have went with the 42inch C4, but not at the same price as the 48 inch.

@hababacon

@majstorringo Not needed if I'm being honest. It's my work and gaming monitor about 3 in half feet from my face when I'm at my desk. I'm about 8 9 feet away when I'm on my couch. 800 nits in vivid mode is plenty of bright. I think it comes in around 775 nits in Cinema mode is plenty. I don't use gaming mode as I don't like the overall PQ and you can't make certain adjustments to my likings. If it was a living room TV, nits might matter, but it's a bedroom/office TV for work and PC gaming every so often. My previous Sony 4K set was 925 nits and that was abit on the bright side. However, my 32 inch LG ULTRA gear is only 525 nits which is dim.
@majstorringo
@majstorringo 16 күн бұрын
@@hababacon Okay. I understand, I just wanted to say that, maybe other people don't know that information. Plus, the sound is weaker and the bezels around the TV are thicker. People are crazy about brightness and how many nits some TV has. Those are nits nerd😆. Honestly, 1000 nits at 10% of the window is more than enough for me. My room is not too bright, when the sun hits the TV in the afternoon, I simply pull down the blinds. I am planning to buy a 55 inch LG C4 soon. I have a nanocell from 2019, entry model. I think the LG C4 will be a huge upgrade
@hababacon
@hababacon 16 күн бұрын
@majstorringo I gotcha, the sound was actually ok before I connected to my 7.1 setup in my room. I did have problems initially with Dolby Atmos cutting out, or outputting garble dialog. This has since been patched. The only other issue is the input location. Previous TV inputs were on the right. The LG is on the left. I had to buy additional HDMI cables that wraps up and behind the TV as my home theater setup in my bedroom is on the right. Not to big of a deal, just doesn't look as nice as the cables curves into the inputs from the top. It kinda looks like refrigerator coils on the left side of my C4. I'll fix that next year, selling my home theater system and buying a soundbar with rear wireless speakers.

Lol I appreciate your response. The New built-in tone mapping, as I understand it, can be used for video content and videogames, which is why I referenced it. I currently have a 65 LG C7 and it's still really good imo, but the game mode is not very good and the sdr gaming is not good at all. If not for the gaming image improvements, I'd just stick to the c7 or maybe just go up in size. Even on the LG C3 of last year, the sdr gaming was still very dim compared to sony and Samsung. It wasn't until this year that other youtubers have alluded to sdr game mode being fixed finally, so this has my attention. I understand now that you want to speak specifically about how you feel and maybe aren't as interested in the minute details. I'm strongly considering finally updating to the LG G4 and I'm super interested in anything you can give in specifics because LGs 2024 lineup, while it can be bought, isn't on display yet. I appreciate your free content and I'm sorry for the way that I came off. When I write in a direct sense, it can come off as rude and I know this from people telling me that. I'm just very specific and direct about certain things. Anyway, again, I apologize for the way that I came off and I'll be tuning in on future videos that you post and you learn and experience new things with these tvs. Best, Mike - Georgia.

If you’re actually a viewer/subscriber you would know that OLED is choice of a tv technology and for good reason. Go through his videos and enjoy the journey, those cheap LCDs are just that. Cheap low budget options that while descent cannot and will never match even the most basic OLED technology in terms of contrast which is the most important factor in an image.

My 65" LG C1 OLED has glare on super dark content during the day like the Tomb Raider video you showed but on brighter scenes, I can't see any reflection or glare. Even at night, when my daughter is playing games on a computer monitor on the opposite side of the room, at least 15 ft away, I can see it reflected on the TV in very dark scenes. One way I reduce light reflection in the day is to angle the TV slightly off center and sit in my chair to the left of the TV. It makes a big difference. I don't think it's just an OLED thing, though. My previous Samsung 55" 4k LED TV had very similar issue with light reflections. The main difference is it's HDR was shit.

I have a x90l in the living room and even with it being FALD and matte finish I had to move a mirror in my dining room bc in the middle of the day the sun would come in and hit the mirror and reflect a giant concentrated sunspot on my wall above my head in the living room. I’ve also had a 42c2 in my Pc set up for the last year and I love it. I run 3840x1600 and at the res dlss quality is at 1080p internally so it still looks good. I use dlaa for the anti aliasing in most games though. Keep up the good work bro. If you’re going to switch between uw and full screen a lot I recommend hotkey resolution changer. You can switch between the two resolutions with a press of a button.

It's all based on the person watching the TV. I have my A90J 83" next to a sliding glass door. Watching bright to low bright content is not an issue. We don't watch any content that is pitch black (Live the movie) during the day. Anytime we're watching content that has a lot of black-and-night scenes, we close the curtains, and it works great. You don't need to be in a bat cave to own an OLED. That would be a big issue if the door was in front of the TV. Next to it, not so much.

As you say, you want the best set up for yourself , giving your at the moment thoughts, B roll over dubbing loses that immersion. Would you add in I use to be a pro-gamer on a B Roll? Those reflections on that screen would be annoying, if I assume what you said if was really mosted the light reflected back from the TV . Those frames are quite reflective and the chair is white . Be annoying but could have a drop curtain/screen behind you . Probably also distance from frames to TV is quite close, maybe angling TV 5 to 10 degrees.

If I’m satisfied with C1 will C4 be way more reflective or something? Kinda in jam and can’t find 48” C4 from Best Buy anywhere. Might have to get C3 instead. Also, I originally found you over SF content but I stuck around for TV enthusiast talk bc that’s my thing as well. Just had to disconnect from it some bc otherwise I’d be wanting to upgrade yearly 🤣. Coming from someone who owns Matte Gaming Monitors as well as glossy monitors and OLEDs, glossy is HIGHLY distracting in daylight vs Matte. If you game, it’s even worse. All you see is the objects in the background. Some people only have one window, or one small object in the background during the day, so they say it’s not bad. Some people don’t game either, so that’s also another conversation of not being affected by reflections as much. Many average consumers have tons of reflections on the screen during the day and this ruins the quality during the day. There is no retail store that I know of (could be wrong) that has multiple direct windows and so much more on the screen. Most stores only have lights on the screen and people are basing their opinions on that, not direct sunlight, as well as videos only. Obviously, Matte isn’t perfect, but it’s not like glossy is any better in this situation. For the average consumer, this is a win. Most of you reading this comment are enthusiasts, so the S95D won’t be for you, but that’s not who Samsung is targeting for the S95D.

I like your videos and watch a lot of the streamers videos, they are informative, but i always wait for official reviews from HDTVTEST and AVForums to make my final decision. 9:16 About that matt finish, not everybody is a enthusiast user and sits in a darkroom or a constant light controlled room. Families get these expensive tv's for there living rooms, there is alot of daytime watching so people need to think what do you want a matt finish that raises black and washes out colours, because the matt finish scatters the light over the tv screen or reflections and if your TV is bright enough it can overcome some of the reflection. So, you need to look at where and how you gonna use your TV, so choose your poison well.😅

I have a G3 for 3 weeks and I have a problem with it. The OLED becomes an LCD because i have a white wall next to the TV, so the light created by the TV brightens up the wall and then the light from the wall goes to the TV and then I see the frame of the TV and blacks become greys. The TV becomes like a massive light bulb. So an advice for anyone out there, put the OLED very far away from any wall. They need big distance from any wall, just like speakers, so it doesn't interact with the TV. So even if there is no light in the room, the TV will light up the walls. And then it's like watching your OLED in a bright room, you see your room, your bed, your couch, your TV and so on.

Just accent paint the wall behind the TV. They’re literally the model meant to be wall mounted so you’re probably just sensitive to the brightness change or the paint on your wall(assuming it’s white) is super glossy and reflective so the light is bouncing off it aggressively

Ahaaaaa. the ole hurry-up and wait game eh? Yeh I'm in a holding pattern on Oled Desk monitor C4? C3?.. and trying to wait out A95L and all its "troubles" for it's price point.. (A95L has awesome anti glare technology though I must admit.. would like to see that on a 42" oled! ) At times the waiting can be unbearable. Maybe I should become a youtuber so I can tax write-off all my panels? Thanks T!

That’s a good idea because in plus 20 years I’ve yet to write a tv off lol

Don't get taken back by the nit-nerd; he didn't pay attention to what the video was about. I know what he wanted to know because he probably wanted the 42 for movie-watching and such. Not many content creators cover the 42in for non-gaming content.

I would not react to comments which are even slightly annoying unless I see many other people below it agreeing with that comment. You will burn out.

I don’t react enough to burn out, this isn’t a full time thing for me as of now but thank you.
