Just bought this TV a month ago. Coming from a mid tier 2019 LED from LG, which I thought looked pretty good, i was mind blown. Have rewatched all my favorite content on this TV and the experience has been amazing - OLED is NOT overrated. OLED really takes you to another level with immersion, especially for films because you get to dim the lights, and the blacks are blacks, you dont get disrtracted by any blooming, and it has that contrast that makes it look more 3D. I actually ordered the Hisense U8N because apparently had amazing contrast, but quickly cancelled the shipment before it arrived, and decided to go with this to avoid any compromises. Like if you're going to have a TV for many years, and you do enjoy Movies and tv watching as a family activity during the weekneds, it is worth spending a bit more. Its expensive, but not too crazy expensive. If you have the ability to buy one comfortably, just go for it.

If someone thinks of buying a Scamsung S90D, before doing that, check if that TV has QD-OLED or WOLED. If it has WOLED, don't even think to buy the Samsung one, just get the LG. 42", 48" and 83" are 100% LG Display (as they are the only manufacturers for such displays). In some regions 55" is panel lottery, and 77" 100% is also LG Display (again, in some Regions, like in Europe, Romania). Here in Romania, the WOLED S90D's ends in AEXXH, while QD-OLED S90D's ends in ATXXH. Also, I've seen the same model numbers for other European countries too. So, for my European fellas, avoid the AEXXH models, and get the C4.

The Sony Bravia 8 has the same green tint problem. RTINGS documented it on their review of the Sony Bravia 8. Also the LG B4 has the green tint problem. Rtings documented this as well. It's sad. LG Display seems to have screwed up their panel production this year. I wish Caleb would have mentioned it because it can be seen in his video. Whites have a greenish cast instead of the usual woled bluish cast. To me that's a very serious flaw. I wouldn't buy any woled TVs this year because of it.

Not the best price ever, but I found a 48" C4 at Costco. I bought the TCL QM8 75" for the living room from best buy in Feb, but wanted a nice smaller tv for the bedroom. Wanted a 55" but the 48" was $700 with included 3 year warranty and the 55" was like $1300 or something like that. I actually like both my TV's having really good, but uniquely different pictures. LG looks crisp as hell. Perfect for night time movies. I will say the tcl UI and remote is superior overall. Have to train my brain on the different remotes, but the lg doesn't light up and I have a harder time feeling the buttons. All the money went into the wii pointer functionality Funny side story, the 48" barely fit in the trunk in my tiny Subaru 2nd gen BRZ (one of the smallest cars on the market). I ended up bending the trunk frame by the rubber weatherstripping gasket a bit, and tearing the gasket. Oops. I ended up slowly shimmying it little by little from the inside. Didn't notice till I went to close the trunk. I had to cut the box open from inside, and carry it out of the car, to prevent bending the thin aluminum more. I was upset but also laughing at the absurdity of it. People at the costco parking lot and even my neighbors coming home were like "wtf". Only time I've ever needed a bigger car, is when I am buying TV's 😂

Recently picked one of these up for merely the cost of my Best Buy protection plan. My C9 from 2019 had the most minor burn in possible (and only under certain colors) so they exchanged it for me. Pretty nice upgrade overall. Though I will say the cost cutting is obvious when you compare it to the C9 (C9 has a huge stand, more inputs, better remote, attractive backside with finish, sits lower, better power button) I'm ok with all that because I know the tech/panel is cutting edge and the 144Hz was a nice bonus. The replacement C4 though will be an upgrade to 77 inches which will be a better fit given the room it will be situated in now that I have experienced the 65 inch size. @4grins29 күн бұрын
Of all the reviews, both positive and negative, this one stands true. Took the plunge and couldn't be happier. Went from a 2019 Samsung LED and am absolutely blown away. OLED is a game changer! Our TV is perpendicular to a north facing sliding glass door and faces another window. Have always struggled with glare and viewing angles. This LG C4 is plenty bright enough and crystal clear in all lighting conditions. Glare is no longer a distraction, and we have not had to pull our blinds shut a single time! Set the picture to Expert Bright Space Daytime and Energy Saving Off and that's it! We have a soundbar, but without, the TV audio is not as terrible as expected, especially in AI Sound Pro mode. Even if OLED wears out in time, I hope this LG will still outlast our past two Samsung TVs. Have always been a Samsung person but their quality and reliability have gone downhill. That said, we have two Samsungs from 2009 that are still going strong. Only time will tell in this 'built to fail' generation. Thank you, Digital Trends, for a dependable review!

My parents LG C1 just seems to have something that the Samsung lacks , maybe it’s the processing, the LG picture signature is more appealing to me even though mine is technically more advanced with the QDOLED technology.

I was at the local Best Buy here in Canada and was comparing C3 vs Bravia 8. I am a big fan of Sony and was almost disappointed C3 looked so good. Problem was, they were out of stock since it’s a last year’s model and C4 was more expensive than Bravia 8. This morning, or should I say 15 min ago I checked the new prices, and C4 is now on even better sale than Bravia 8 making it cheaper than Sony. Came here to check on your review and really appreciate it. With the BB warranty, I don’t mind not getting LG’s 5 year panel protection as I should be covered by BB warranty. I found C3 to have better connectivity than Sony and TV just looks spectacular. This will be my first LG TV ever and I am hoping built quality and longevity will not disappoint. I am coming from a 9 year old Samsung 8 series 4K led tv and I am sure this will be a major upgrade. Any LG or TV nerds, please feel free to confuse me even more if I should not worry about the purchasing of a LG TV or if Sony Bravia 8 is still a better panel.

Quick update, BB made me a great deal on G4. I am on the second panel now, just got it yesterday after getting a faulty panel, and guess what, new one has burned pixels, like a whole thin line running along the right hand side of the screen. I think there’s an issue with quality control on LGs side and I will be returning it purchasing the Sony.

As fate would have it, I was in BB today and had an hour to kill. So off to LG tv land I went. C4 on top. G4 on the bottom. IMHO there was a quite noticeable difference. More saturation but more importantly, a depth I couldn’t put my finger on. Not 3D level but depth nonetheless. Beautiful. Simply beautiful. Damnitall 😂

C4 or S90D? I am looking into these 2 TVs and since they are similar in price, I'd like to get the best between these 2. Thanks.
@KryssN114 күн бұрын
For movies and sports C4 definitetly. This is a high praise coming from me, I got S90C. For gaming and movies S90C or S90D. The S90C and S90D has faulty motion, 5:5 pulldown specifcily, need to use Apple TV / Google TV with Gaming Mode / 60Hz mode on ATV/GTV or noticeable amount of dejudder. Which makes my S90C really have to turn up de-judder for sports and it still does not work well, I also could not fix perfect setting for movies. Have to go into settings for each content. Meanwhile on LG, you set it and forget it, but C4 looks tad worse in gaming mode than S90C or S90D.

I have a OLED55C7P-U from 2017. We had lots of Problems from the start...the panel had to be replaced due to a software glitch with pixel refresher after approximately 4 months...I made LG cover the new panel and not Best Buy as that would destroy my 5 year Warranty. So lastly after about 4 years with the C7, we had heavy screen burn...in particular with Magenta colors. Fulfilled my warranty and wondering if I should get this one? No more analog input, so I'll have to get a cheapy one from Amazon. Burn in is a big factor, but OLED is gorgeous.

I can't believe the price of OLEDs these days. In 2016 I spent £2,300 on a C6 and it is still going strong and has never once crashed or caused an issue, and it still wows me every time I watch something! Now look how far they've come and are nearly half the price I paid! I would get a C4 in an instant if I wanted to upgrade from LCD for instance.

need some advice. Coming from a 2018 65'" c8. Moving a to a bigger condo (2x the size) corner unit with a lot more sunlight. I don't find my current c8 dim but it could be brighter in sdr. Considering either a 77 G4 or settle for a C4. I use a shield pro to consume my content 95% in SDR. Not sure which one to get but I know i'm loyal to LG.
@paulcox24472 ай бұрын
If brightness is a concern go ahead and get the G4. The TV you have and the c-series are honestly basically the same TV Sure you're getting "different generation panel", put the changes by the panel manufacturer year to year are very small. It essentially be getting the same TV and personally if you're spending $2,000 I'd rather have something with a real improvement and not just better processing The g4 has MLA so there's legitimately something that was changed and improved. Also idk if you know about the 113111 code, but you can really juice up the look of SDR content using that menu with your shield pro. You can make sdr MUCH brighter and more colorful by forcing it into HLG mode.

Great timing for this review to come out!! Labor Day specials just launched and there are some really good deals out!! I’ve been researching the new mini led 85”s to death convinced that the size and brightness were my biggest wants. However… I’ve recently come to realize that the things I don’t like about my Q90C just can’t be much better on any of the new miniLeds :/ That said, I think I’ve decided that for my personal bedroom tv, the best choice is gonna be an OLED.. I wish the G4 but 83” is way too much $$, the 77” is on a crazy good deal on lug partner site, but the real deals are on the C4!! 🎉 after all of my tons of hours researching TVs… I have to agree with you on this “take” the C4 is the best all around Tv for most people especially when on sale!! Plus you get Dolby vision and more importantly dts!! 🎉thank you Caleb and team!

Im still loving and getting complements on my LG C9. Its time to get a second TV and ofc im going LG again this will be another amzing TV. As someone who put 870hrs on COD , 500hrs+ hours on GTA 5 and 600hrs on Destiny 2, plus falling alseep with youtube paused there is still no burn in almost 5 years later with the C9, the C4 should be no different.

My first 55C9 OLED is still going strong with +5000 hours with zero burn-in (no gaming). I do have a 77C1 and 55C1 in other rooms and the 55C9 is noticeable slower to start and entering into streaming services. Once in, zero differences between the newer OLEDs in picture quality.

I just bought a LG C4 based on this review. Retired our glorious Panasonic 50 in. Plasma. OLED is far superior. There are lots of settings and filmmaker mode seems best. Had issue with Sony Blueray player, filled the screen image with "millions" of fireflys. Discovered a menu on the Blueray player to adjust output to 4K and disable 24p upscaling. Complaint on this is LG is impossible to "register" or accept "terms of service", thus it would not do "over the air" scan, nor authorize the many aps. I had to find a KZbin video to show steps to tweak Wi-fi settings and change DNS, etc. and that worked. I got the 55 inch due to TV placement, and it's a beauty.
@Andykev2 ай бұрын
PS> had I known how the "Web OS" is and the pain in the *** to register or set it up, I would have spend more money on the Bravia 8 or something comparable. I had to tweak my wifi setup at home to lock the tv to just one access point, apparently having three Ubiquiti AP's somehow confused the tv so it kept failing to load aps which can't happen until you sign in and agree to terms which it was almost impossible to do. Otherwise the picture quality is out of this world. Hope the OS improves but I have nothing to compare it to since this is my first new TV in 14 years.

Honestly I think you should totally skip audio as part of these reviews. It's 2024 and if you're buying a TV this nice, you should have a soundbar paired with it at the minimum. Even if it's wall mounted, you can hang a soundbar to the TV mount below the screen easily.
@jimherold78272 ай бұрын
Truth. Anyone buying this TV most likely knows they are buying the best looking TV on the market and isn't going skimp on the audio.

I bought the 42" model to use as Monitor (I upgraded from my 42" C2) and it looks fantastic, I just really REALLY wish that LG would put the MLA on the smaller models too, this would have been THE ultimate 42" model then.

I had the C2 for a couple years, but due to unfortunate circumstances I don't have it anymore. I'm in the market for a new TV now, and my budget is lower, but I'm having a REALLY hard time not trying to justify buying another LG OLED. I honestly might get the 42" and just sit closer so I can still have one. The C2 was the best TV I ever owned, without a doubt.

Great contributions all the time Caleb. I love the "pop" in the color of the LG TV's but when I want the best authentic re-creation, I go to Sony. I have one of each in my home and I love them both for what they do. I have the A80K and just picked up a LG C3 a few months back given the bang-for-the-buck. The comparisons in the store between today's latest LG and Sony still hold the same general find - the "pop" belongs to LG, the accuracy of re-creation as intended, Sony. Well done my friend. Your reviews are spot-on - thank you!

Are WOLEDs getting any more Colorful? Haven’t WOLED tech been Maxed out just yet since like 2022?
@nimblegoat2 ай бұрын
you can still increase color volume .Probably without new materials it will be hard for WOLED and QD-OLED to improve their Rec 2020 scores, Both these techs and LCD can produce lovely bright , saturated colors.But it's the hues ( wavelengths ) that are missing. Most content except cartoons, games not affected , unless a TV boosts spread for you, Real life examples really colorful sunsets, rainbows, prisms, emeralds, sapphires, iridescent insect wings, oil spills, some exotic plants and some burning metals . So Rec 2020 increases color graduations ie hues, I think violets are hard to reproduce from memory. Again made be moot if watch old technicolor movies, or if your color vision is so so. I always find it funny old audiophiles worrying about high treble, when they can't hear it - they are lucky to still hear 16-17000 hertz let alone 22 0000. In isolation all these TVs are colorful, you won't know what you are missing, if don't have a S95D right next to be for specific content . LG C series sells well as most people are really happy . Most people also love big screen Hisense. TCL 85' -100" monsters . To put it in perspective a C4 if released 3 years ago , would be raved about as the greatest TV ever - no MLA , no QD-OLED . Content has never looked so good , this is the nearly the perfect TV !!!

@@nimblegoat I had always been in awe of LG’s balanced approach with Color Saturation: Sony’s Accuracy and realism coupled with Samsung’s Bright Saturation… It’s like one found a Haven between the 2 polar opposites.
@nimblegoat2 ай бұрын
@@hastensavoir7782 Yeah a nice balance. Think Samsung will bring MLA tech either next year or year after. This is only a small part of the market, most people buy LCD. I still have a plasma, I know HDR looks spectacular but still love my panasonic. I will buy next year in sales. Still undecided if best 65" and wait 4 years to go big , or just get the best 83" next year. Money is not an issue for me, which I am grateful for , but I won't pay a silly price for say B10 83" ( ie a Sony QD-OLED 83" if it comes next year ) , as TVs will be getting better for another 10 years at least . But I know a C4 83" is really good enough to buy and just enjoy ( I watch in darken room )

Upgraded from an obviously old Samsung plasma 60. The 1080p picture was still great but I wanted HDMI 2.1 and eARC. 4K was a bonus. Went to the box store to buy the Samsung S90D. Ended up getting the LG C4 65 at the same price. It was a back-and-forth decision but I felt that the LG had a slightly better picture. Silly as it may seem, the real tie breaker was the remote as (a) it had a source button and (2) it can point and click!. After a period of second guessing my decision to leave the Samsung brand, I'm thrilled with the decision to go with the LG C4. The only negative that I'm aware of is that it does not support HDR10+ but that's not weighted very heavily as I'm not sure that my eyes would be able to discern the difference. Plenty of eye candy just the way it is.
@KPAki1Ler2 ай бұрын
I use a Fire TV 4K stick or 4k player, so I'll never use WebOS apart from the popup settings menu for picture modes etc... so the ads are a none issue. Looking at the 77" C4 end of the year purchase 👍. Also if your spending this much on a TV, your going to be using a soundbar or HT setup worth enough to match that image quality or your doing the TV a disservice.
@Striderx2202 ай бұрын
I just bought it to replace my 6 year old 65” LG Oled. It does have better picture and is brighter. It’s just not bright enough for a bright room and has glare. At night, it has beautiful picture.

I had to mount OLED on an articulating wall mount to adjust the 77C1 down/away from normal day or night light glare (windows, doors, overhead lights, lamps, etc...). It really improved viewing in a bright room and the OLED looks the same in every seat because of the TV's ultra wide viewing angle.
