LG Dishwasher AE Error - Exploring Origins, Resolutions, and Expert Fixes (Alleviate the Problem). In this video, we will be talking about the LG Dishwasher AE error.
An AE error, also known as E1, is an error code that indicates a leakage inside the dishwasher. This leakage activates the float switch, whose function is to measure the water level in the dishwasher to tell whether there is more or less water than the ideal amount. In this case, the error, prompted by the float switch, indicates an excess amount of water, which indicates a leakage.
The following are some of the causes of an AE error:
Using too much or the wrong detergent
Dishwasher users are instructed to use High-Efficiency detergents only.
Float switch fault
An error code may occur due to a fault in the fault switch.
Defective door gasket
The door gasket is a seal around the door. Its primary function is to stop water from leaking out. If defective, a leak may occur.
Clogged or misplaced spray arms
The primary function of the dishwasher’s spray arms is to spray water to clean the dishes.

There is a pan on the bottom of the dishwasher that will hold water in case of a leak. That's where the sensor is as well. If water gets in there, you need to pull the dishwasher out (first turn off the breaker obviously) and dry it out with a sponge / paper towel. You can reach olin from the sides

one of the arms came off and tripped the error. we got the arm back on but the error won't reset, even after leaving it off at the breaker for a while, what an infernal piece of crap.

@@blossominginthedesert6730 there is a drip pan which I was able to access from the bottom front (kind of in the centre) without pulling the dishwasher out. I was able to feel water in the pan so used a cloth and removed as much as possible. Not sure how big the pan is but it took 2 days to fully dry out and the error code finally disappeared on its own. The cause was a loose lower spray arm that had come off and blocked the actual spray arm from turning which apparently made excess water flow into the drip pan. Pretty crappy system of plastic gears and clips.

We are renting a brand new home from a builder (moving out of state in next year to TX, so recently sold our home in anticipation of the move), and this happened on a Sunday (the builder’s observed Sabbath as he is LDS…our Sabbath is Friday sundown to Saturday sundown), so I didn’t want to disturb his family time if I could address it on my own. Of course the error happened while my husband was out of town with 2 of our 7 children (teens in the middle of the pack of our crew of kiddos) at the Refuge Ruckus in Ft Smith AR (to help raise funds for Kaleb House). Anyway, took your advice, after reattaching the lower arm (which feels flimsy in design overall), took off the kick-plate and used some paper towels in the drip pan to soak up water without pulling out the entire dishwasher….though even after soaking up some of the water with paper towels I could feel with my fingertip there was some water/dampness I could not quite get. Of course turned off the circuit breaker so the pump didn’t keep running (thankfully it was a different circuit than the fridge & stove…only had to turn it back on once briefly to run garbage disposal). Exercised some patience & it dried up in 24 hours (we are currently in UT….fairly dry air here so that helped). Error code then went away & seems to be working well now (ran one cycle last night with success….we’ll see if it holds). Appreciate the time you took to respond…definitely helped this busy mama out a lot. Blessings!

my wife used dish soap and i am unsure how to clear this error afterwards ive left unplugged overnight and the error still persists any help would be awesome!

You have to take the bottom plate or it can be called a toe kick. you need to take that off with two screws and to the right there is the float sensor you’ll see it’s white plastic box/square you have to dry that out once you dry that out you can then plug it back in the error should go away

Make sure to get as much water out as possible. If the error doesn’t clear after you do, it could be a bad float, but that’s rare. Most likely it’s a leak from the tub/door gasket. Some people have had luck leveling the dishwasher a tiny bit higher at the front so water slightly runs/pools to the back. That should solve the float triggering unless the leak is elsewhere. I didn’t think mine was leaking either, but check the float tray underneath (you can likely access it without removing the dw) We sopped the water out with paper towels and then the AE was gone. It came back once it leaked again. Still troubleshooting but may need a new tub gasket methinks

Useless video. Just reciting the uber-basic troubleshooting. doesn't even tell you where the float is!
