Two thoughts (1) Soft water, (2) Trap Door If you use hard water the amount of soap you need could be much higher. This is true for washing your hair or anything else. If you buy a water softener be prepared for over-sudsing. (2) Trap Door - How wonderful LG and Samsung have that little door on the front for access to your "trap". Just like a bathroom sink, small items that somehow get through the washing tank should not get back into the tub. For example pet hair, my daughters infinite collection of hair ponies, your credit card receipt, etc. The door allows you to simply check the trap for debris then rinse it out at the sink. READ THE MANUAL.. We had a Whirlpool before. To access this trap requires moving the unit away from the wall, removing the back and reaching where you can't see to pull it out. Needless to say our trap is loaded with junk. Our wash smells bad. Try washing something without soap to see if it smells. This is exactly why scent beads were likely invented.

Great video! How many pounds of clothes do you wash with 2 tbs of detergent and what is the concentration of your detergent? Thank you!

Hi there, We see that your inquiring about the concentration of the HE Detergent to use. The concentration level should be stated on the container of the detergent, We recommend using the detergent sparingly, spr.ly/6059PyBDc. ~Tanisha

We put 1 Tide pod in our LG front loader drum. When doing towels on normal cycle and cold water foam is coming out of back vent. There is a Towel cycle which is much longer. We were trying to save energy by using normal cycle with cold water. Should we actually use the Towel cycle or perhaps use less detergent, any suggestions?

These companies tend to make dozens of videos on different subjects regarding front end loaders and they tend to jump around or be really inconsistent. To be honest I'd ditch the pods (they cost way more per ounce than standard detergent anyway). Basic principles I've learned since I got a front loader: -Run a tub clean cycle with a cleaning tablet once a month ("Normal" hot wash set to heavy soil if you don't have a model with a dedicated clean cycle) -Use less detergent. The wash should look a tad sudsy, but almost clear, but not like a snow storm while washing. There's more detergent than you might think running through the fibers of your clothes. Pre-treat tough stains, don't just dump more into the dispenser to accommodate. -Ditch the pods. This is personal opinion, I think they're a gimmick and they aren't a one size fits all machine/load type solution. -Be sure to drain your pump and clean the filter every month so it drains properly (compartment near the bottom of the washer). This is not optional, this is essential maintenance. The manufacturer provides an access door on purpose. If your machine still foams, run another cleaning cycle and follow the above. If it still happens, get an appliance repairman to steam clean the inner drum and dispenser cavity, but not before telling them the issue in case its something else. I'd imagine a visual inspection on their part would reveal what the problem is. If your machine is older and the cost to get this done exceeds your budget, consider replacing your unit at some point and follow these principles on day one. 1. Less detergent, no pods 2. Tub clean and pump drain/filter clean monthly. And 3. (Which I didn't mention above) When finished with your laundry for the day/week, dry your door boot/gasket with a soft microfiber towel and leave the washer door partially open along with the dispenser drawer. Don't be afraid to gently fold back your door gasket to dry the inside seam. Doesn't have to take long, just dab it dry to help the water evaporate on its own over time. Hope this helps.

I have a WM4000 and I use the PERM PRESS cycle for washing everything, including towels. I've found that PERM PRESS washing everything just fine and it has a short cycle time. I also use Tide original pods. No problems

@@gadzooks299 Basic principles I've learned since I got a front loader: -Run a tub clean cycle with a cleaning tablet TWICE a month or every 15 loads, whichever comes first. -Use less detergent. Agreed! -IF you are a person willing to measure liquid detergent then, ditch the pods. When you are first starting out with a front loader, pods are great, as king as you aren't using those gigantic Tide POWER pods, you are not using way too much detergent. But make it a mission to see just how little detergent you can get away with using and still get clean clothes. If you are like me and never fill your machine even to the half way point, I can tell you a LG WM4000 using Persil Pro Clean liquid detergent, will got tour clothes clean using 15ml. That's ONE tablespoon. A actually use a shot glass to measure out the detergent, it works great! Another good reason to use liquid (and measure it with a shot glass) is you can easily pre treat the dirtiest spots by simply using your garment as a towel to clean off the little bit of extra detergent which will be left in the shot glass after pouring it in the dispenser. -Be sure to drain your pump and clean the filter. OK, LG says every 30 days. My experience says do it every 50 LOADS. -When finished with your laundry for the day/week, dry your door boot/gasket with a soft microfiber towel and leave the washer door partially open along with the dispenser drawer. Don't be afraid to gently fold back your door gasket to dry the inside seam. Doesn't have to take long, just dab it dry to help the water evaporate on its own over time. Agreed. But also, lets assume you are like me and do your laundry on Saturday morning from 10AM until about 2PM. Before you go to bed, around 11PM or so, come back and wipe the gasket dry again! It takes 24 hours for mold to start to grow. If wipe it down again 9 hours later, your machine will be dry. Now, I admit this is probably overkill, but I can also tell you my machine, IS in fact, SPOTLESS and smells good!
