It is impossible to see the difference from a KZbin video filmed with an HD camera. You need to see both in person to make a purchasing decision. But the content of this video is excellent. Thank you Chris! :)

Well I can actually see some difference. More brightness and more color and also more enhanced look and sharpness in some areas. Especially when you see the animal planet 2 footage. But yes you'd see it better in person. It is still noticeable for sure.

Yes, it’s difficult to discern the difference from a camera at a relatively significant distance. It also doesn’t help that the displays are of a different size.

The LG OLED G4 seems to be having a significant issue with HDMI2 (eARC). Connecting external video sources to HDMI2 (which work on the other the other 3 HDMIs) do not produce an image (but you can hear sound). I have done all the troubleshooting in the world in order to try to isolate the issue to no avail (changing HDMI cables, factory resets, hard resets, removing the HDMIs one by one and re-adding them one by one, turned off HD color). Nothing works. The interesting thing is that this issue temporarily goes away with a hard reset, but it quickly returns. After unsuccessful attempts at getting effective tech support from LG, I purchased a second 65 G4. Exact same issue! On 4/4/24, LG pushed down an update 3.10.27 which has not resolved the prob(in fact, it's not even addressed in the release notes). I should also point out that the setup I am using is the exact setup I have had with a C9, CX and a C3 just before getting the G4. This HDMI2 issue never occurred with the other TVs. The devices I am talking about which work on other HDMIs but not in HDMI2 of the above-referenced TVs are Fire TV 4K stick, Nintendo Switch, Apple TV 4K and PS5. If this is a software issue, then it can hopefully be addressed quickly by LG, seeing that the G4 is their flagship OLED and the problem is with the most important HDMI - the HDMI2. However, if this is a hardware problem (difficult to believe that both units were defective - in fact, I heard from another LG customer that he is having the same issue with a 83 G4), then LG has its work cut out for it. I can't think of many people who would be willing to wait for a hardware fix which would require for a part to be replaced by a tech's visit on a brand new TV which has been lauded by LG as ground-breaking. All this would be very easily clarified by LG, but up until this point, it seems to be pushing customers (at least me) to an endless loop of bad customer service and then either that (a) the unit is defective and sine it's under the 30 (or 60 in my case) day return period, it can be returned, or (b) to send a tech to diagnose the issue. What exactly the tech would do beyond what i have done to troubleshoot has not been communicated by LG (unless they believe I would be conformable in having the tech open up a brand new TV and start exploring . . .). This is very disappointing. I hope that the various reviewers take note of this very easily identifiable problem (all you have to do is connect a few video sources into HDMI2 and observe for a few hours while turning the TV off and on an again). This way, the interested customers would be informed and LG would provide some information on this issue.
@motivatedtravel

@@motivatedtravel Absolutely. Please pass it on to LG. I spoke to the Magnolia manager at the Tysons Corner, VA Best Buy who confirmed that 4 units have been returned with the same issue. I have also gotten a few messages from others (one with a 83', another with a 55') that HDMI2 is unstable. Today, I did yet another factory reset and started with brand new HDMI cables and out of the box external sources (a new Apple TV and a new Fire TV stick). These worked perfectly on HDMI1, 3 and 4. But once again, when connecting to HDMI2, after a few minutes of working fine, and after changing HDMI sources, the picture is gone. Absolutely mind blowing. Did the same with the second G4 unit I still have in my house and the exact same issue occurred.
@pkalellis

@@motivatedtravel Absolutely! Please pass it on to LG! I have been doing extensive research on this to see how isolated it is. I spoke to a salesperson at Crutchfield and was told a few G4's have been returned due to HDMI2 issues. Also, at the Tysons, VA Best Buy, the Magnolia manager told me that he has gotten 4 returns of the G4 due to this same issue. And then a few reached out online (someone with a 83 G4 told me the same, as well as another with a 65 G4). I truly hope this can be addressed by LG (or at least recognized as an issue) because I truly LOVe this unit. But not being able to have consistent HDMI video from all HDMIs is not ideal for a flagship model.

I have an LG g3 65 and an lg b7 55 and to be honest, I’m happier with the image on the B7…. Somehow it’s clearer and sharper, crisp!! I have tried all kinds of settings on the G3 to match or even come closer to the B7 picture quality and for the life of me, I just can’t get it right!!! I’ve watched videos where they give the picture settings for the three image formats. Which vary from video to video and no luck. Kind of crazy because the G3 should be superior. If the G4 is better than the G3, at least from where I stand, something to consider ? 😢😮

@@motivatedtravel yeah. I really don’t know whats going on. What i didn’t mention in my post, is that I even had a calibrator (from the store) come and calibrate it for me, being that it’s so expensive, I wanted to have the best image possible needless to say, this didn’t work … that’s when I turned to KZbin to find other settings from other people who know about this. I know you meant it as a joke about the B7 but in a way it’s true. You see, every time I turn it on, I see immediately how beautiful the image is, what I don’t get with the G3, kind of discouraging. Like I said, I love my image crisp. I’ve tried all kinds of settings. Sharpness I have it currently try all the way to 35 which I know, is super high but if I turn it down I really don’t like it. It’s it like watching tv without glasses. While my other Tv it’s set to 0. And gives perfect image. 😮 So frustrating to read all the comments on how great the G3 is and I don’t get a decent image out of it 😢 😔

The G4 was really impressive, but if you're watching general content (Netflix, Disney and co.) the G3 is necessarily a slouch, especially as it will keep getting the firmware updates for the next 4 years. It's subjective to an extent, but also, unless you see it side-by-side, you don't know what you're missing. The G4 if you have to have the best, but the G3 at a good price is still worth considering. Interesting info - 1 the AI in WebOS will update models for 5 years , so will improve over that time by a reasonable amount, also std algorithms/code will be updated . Does make you wonder if in future if movies tagged with IMDB number they will have a profile . Ie LG can analyse that movie at it's leisure and user can get profile downloaded . Second interesting fact C4 1100Nits - this means good head room for a well mapped 1000 HDR for people wanting to spend less ,and watch content in a dark room . Can't find a calculator but think 2300 nits to 1100 probably about 35-40% maybe more brighter , so 50% more than B series about right . Note full screen won't be 35% brighter , this is mainly more head room for specular highlights . though midrange will be slightly more bright . SDR will need to be turned down in dark room for some viewers . Sharpening and add contrast is subjective , some criticism of Sony over processing . most will like it . Sometimes the image is just soft . Hardly matters as most people feed 720p and above - plenty to work off from 720/1080p

pure false marketing in that demo, the high end processor is still garbage and is not capable of surpassing the Sony processor in scaling to 4k, also in the video you can see that the g4 has a better color tone but they simply increased that or they toned down the g3 to make the g4 look better and thus sell it, basically the only difference is the 144hz refresh rate that the g4 and c4 offer and a little more brightness, but the rest remains the same and its processor is still garbage. It's not worth going for the g4 and c4 generation unless you're only looking to play at 144hz in games.
