Such a crying shame about that HDMI input issue- the G4 was going to be the best candidate for my application until I found out about that and then I had to nix the purchase. All LG had to do to get my customer dollars is to respond favorably to that whole situation - they utterly failed

4:03 The PQ EOTF tracking of these models is pretty much identical so it's not a matter of different processing. It's probably because the higher brightness on the G4 increases the perceived contrast (or color volume I believe it's called in technical terms)

The G4 is great if you can use a 55" screen. I've used a LG C Series as combo streaming machine & pc gaming monitor which it excels at, but 55" is too big. The pixel density at 55" is very noticeable unless you're sitting a living room away. I wish I could get a 42" or 48" with an MLA panel, but I expect the pixel density will not allow for MLA that small. It would be nice to see the MLA tech in smaller form factor.

Upper left is probably the S95D because it's bright and has more color whereas the upper right is the G4 which has more brightness and better clarity, but color is not as good. Bottom two are the dimmer C4 and S90D.

Original poster posted exactly what I thought G4 upper right S 95D upper left with more and better color but less clarity. My least favorite is the C4 and my most favorite is the G4 - but I couldn’t get a G4 because of the HDMI port issues all over AVS forums- the G4 is just defective… what a shame

Very informative video. Thanks for uploading it! I have a questiom, if that's okay. For PC use, mostly productivity and a bit of gaming, would the G4 provide me extended durabitlity against burn-in? The logic being that with MLA, I wouldn't need to push the pixels as hard as I would with the C4, so they would last longer before showing signs of burn-in. Also, given my PC room is dimly lit, would the G4 still show an obvious image quality difference over the C4 even at low brightness settings? Thanks!

i saw a G4 in the shops, a 65 inch one. boy the heat coming out of the panel is kind of alarming and the c465 next to it wasn't creating that much heat. my c242 and c355 ain't giving out that much heat.

Ive seen online somewhere that the G4 has an issue with HDMI 2 (eARC) not working. Does anyone else experience this too? I do mostly gaming and watching youtube and I'm on a journey to find the perfect gaming tv for myself. I've been using a Samsung series 7 (4K LED) for the last 4 years now. I always connect my TV to bluetooth earbuds because it allows me to focus more on the tv while also drowning out all noise around me. At first I was going to get an LG C3, but the Samsung S90c looked better in comparison, but the LG G3 has been said to have a lot more depth than the S90c. I'm having a dilemma, lol.

Well ... thats a bummer. Had some hopes that LG would fix gaming on the C4 this year, but it seems like there are still problems. Wonder what some of the problems are on the S90D compared to the C4, as KG eluded. The C3 prices have come down, which would make a great buy, but gaming wise, its worse than C4. S90C is still an option. Or perhaps the S90D. Probably the best way to go is to wait for BF in November and get a nice deal with the G4. Prices should have come down by then for the G4 🤔

Definitely understand the reason for wanting 83”. To answer your question no it’s not just an advantage for bright room viewing, even in a dark room I appreciate the more capable TV for HDR because those TVs will not have to dim a scene down and tone map as aggressively as a lesser TV, so you have better highlights in HDR leading to overall better HDR impact.

It seems the G4 has a way better factory calibration. The white point on the C4 seems off and looks way better on the G4 (2:39 shows this).... this is another huge reason opting for the G4!!

It is a pretty big step up, will be noticable so if you can afford it would be nice. In dark rooms however its less important so ask yourself how often you're watching tv during the day Imo, next huge step up would be micro led but that would take a long time. From G4 to G5, G6 I would not expect a huge difference honestly.

That 5 year Panel warranty is great but LG gotta do a much better job in the QC department I have a A2 OLED and got the panel replaced because of dead pixels for free no charge still under warranty no problem but I’m on my 3rd panel cause I keep getting a lot of dead pixels every panel replacement has had a lot of dead pixels right out the box I’m not sure what’s going with LG but they have todo better

For a correct comparison of processors, it was necessary to enable the SDR signal. the worse the picture, the more the processor works to improve it. in HDR the difference will be minimal. The 11 minutes of chatting was helpful. but I haven’t seen a single film, and TV is usually bought for this. I hope to see the movie and comparison in SDR. thx a lot anyway. dude !

I believe in color science, each manufacturer has its own way of processing colors, and observing the Samsung logo in different scenarios, it is possible to notice a greater difference in tone occurring with screens 1 and 3, leading us to understand that they are the same panel, just as screens 2 and 4 appear to be the same type of panel, only the brightness changing between them. Due to the inconsistency in brightness between screens 3 and 4, I believe that the C4 has Dynamic Tone Mapping turned on, this function helps the C4's screen to be even brighter than the S90D in several HDR scenes. It could be that the G4 is using this function too, and is therefore terribly bright, but that's what the function does, it pushes the brightness of the screens to the limit.

The G4 is so bright it makes the C4 look like it’s sdr vs hdr when they are both HDR. Like I’m sure the C4 is an excellent tv but just knowing the G4 is so much better really makes the C4 look worse than it is. The S90d looks very dim in comparison to the S95d as well but for some reason it doesn’t look as outdated as the C4. I think the aside from the brightness difference the C4 being Woled having those colder blueish tones compared to the Qd-Oled having warmer reder tones is not doing any favors to the C4. Besides its price I really don’t see the point in people getting C4 anyone when the G4 is so much brighter.

I would love to buy the LG G3 instead of the LG C4, but here in Brazil, LG doesn't want to make the G3 available for retail, they only sell it in their online store which is very limited in coverage, they don't deliver to where I live. It even seems that LG here wants to hand over all market share in OLED TVs to Samsung, the LG C3 is available in retail, but it is more expensive than the S90C, to make matters worse, Samsung has much better coverage in its online store and even gave a 43" entry-level TV as a gift when purchasing the S90C last year, even though it was already cheaper than the LG C3. This year, I'm very inclined to buy the S90D, with no option to buy the G3, the G4 should follow the same path, and everyone is talking bad about the C4, even in your comparison, 4:45, the C4 managing to be better than the S90D in some scenes, Dynamic Tone Mapping is probably turned on, I've seen in another video, a comparison that makes the C4 at the same level or even better than the S90D with this function turned on, but many people disregard this function, I don't know why sure why.

As far as I know overal brightness between G3 vs G4 is the same. Just when looking at the 3% window size LG G4 can get at 3000 nits, vs 2000 nits for LG G3. I would say buy LG G3 over any other TV at a discount.

bought c1 back in 2022. I still don't think it is worth upgrading. no 8k, no 240hz... practically almost no difference in spec. yes, they probably have faster cpu in tv but it is still laggy and not silk smooth. waiting another year to see if major upgrade is coming out.

My AI pic pro on the 77 C2 does'nt appear to do anything but after a couple/three weeks I get a flash up on the screen saying AI upscaling has been updated, it does smooth and balance out the picture, I've definately seen a difference after each pop up. Hey 1 more thing, wtf is that fool Quantum bashing you for? I think he's one arrogant arsehole, "I'm the best calibrator,nobody can ever beat my settings" He charges 5 dollars to tell you to put everything in BT2020. @@hastensavoir7782 Need more reviews , but has the G3 processor now alpha 9 , so processing is better, it is brighter again. As stated here get a G3 if you can get it at a good price vs C4 . I haven't see a C3 Vs C4 review at larger size than 42" . Think most of it is the processing is now better, LG with G4 has shown a real step up in processing ( different chip Alpha 11 ) G4 is brighter than the G3 , so by definition the C4 is over the C3 ( ie same panels , minus MLA+ and I think a heat sink ) , For dark room viewing watching movies in film maker mode , or SDR movies - it will look really good. These Tvs are ok for daytime viewing , block on direct sunlight though . all these TVs are good , but side by side they will look less vibrant etc. The C series is a big seller, but as others said if price is close to G4, If you get a great price on a C3 , why not buy it . G4 will be beaten next year , TVs will continue to get better . 55",65" end of the year have great discounts , even the 77" . 83" is not great value for money. People should only get one , it well off or the seriously care about movies and or gaming . If the tech hits a plateau , then a 83" makes sense - but TVS will improve for 5 to 10 years more . After that if won't really matter as your picture will be spectacular anyway , Plus most of the public are well happy with big mid tier Tvs anyway. One further thought if you took away MLA , QD-OLED and the alpha 11 SOC . Then the C4 would be the best OLED in the world until Panasonic or Sony release theirs from the same EVO panel . Hi KG, Do you think LG was holding back OLED possible innovations in the last decade? My my honest opinions about LG: 1) LG always charge hefty prices and for that they need to be ahead of the Game like they did this year with G4 because G3 was a tie with S95C and still below A95L 2) LG was too relaxed with their decades of owning OLED IP rights and no competition made them greedy to charge more price that even 42-inch C# were costlier than some high end mini-LED TVs from economic brands 3) LG was holding back innovation as every year just the model numbers were increasing like C9 to CX, C1 etc. but the brightness increase was negligible in practice 4) When the QD-OLED came in 2022 LG panicked and woke up from their sleep and actually started innovating and brough MLA quickly to the market which otherwise would have been held 5years more citing its not market ready yet, only after more than a decade of owning OLED technology 5) LG OLEDs used to get recommended left and right by reviewers for gaming while Game mode brightness and HDR impact was worst than mini-led TVs in game mode 6) LG still with G4 uses MediaTek's limited bandwidth chipsets which cannot resolve proper 10-bit or 12-bit colors resulting in banding even when panel is capable, just to save few bucks on chipsets or use leftover chipset stock while charging arms and legs to end consumers thinking who will notice this small technical flaw? 7) Even MLA didn't change market placement in 2023 hence only this year they upgraded their AI PQ to more advanced AI based technique which detects objects and depth and seperates background from forground objects making them POP But never the less I'm excited to see what Sony and Samsung brings to the table to compete with G4 as limiting customer choices with S95D matt finish and S90D not having that good of HDR processing Samsung is already down in the list. May be next year Sony and Samsung will be up on their toes again lets see

Which oled is best for gaming... in your opinion

@@Courtannica As KG said G4 is the best OLED for everything but not everyone has that high budget so the middle ground is Samsung OLEDs S90C/S89C/S90D or even higher ones S95C etc. whichever you can get the cheaper or in your budget as they all have almost similar feature sets for gaming and deliver nearly 80-90% of G4 performance(except may be pop effect) and best in class input lag. But if your budget is even tightened then get at least mini led zones based TV from TCL, Hisense or any such good value for money brands.

@@Courtannica If you can get G3 or S95C/S90C etc. get whichever has better deal as they are mostly same in performance just don’t get C3 unless budget constraints. But do remember that G3 is very dim compared to Samsung in Game Mode

Its not a major downgrade but it may be slightly worse I still need to see it before I make that final call, but the G3 is just better than both and around the same price as the C4 and comes with a 5 year panel warranty.

What size? If going for 55 or 65 just get the A75L if available in your region. It’s basically an A80L with lesser speakers.
