@braden95365 ай бұрын
The only way the G4 is that much brighter is with DTM On, which is wildly inaccurate and destroys dark area immersion by lifting blacks a huge amount. I put a G4, S95D, and S90D side by side and the differences looked nothing like this. I don't know how you have these set up, but it ISN'T correct... and that's no surprise considering one of your other comparison videos had the G4 running with reduce blue light enabled and you didn't think twice about it. You keep yapping about detail? There should be no detail difference between these TVs when 4K gaming - the game already renders every pixel, what more does the TV need to do? Most processing is disabled in game mode anyway to get the lowest input lag. All you're seeing is DTM drastically altering how bright the scene is supposed to look. The only correct things said here are the S90D has better color, and the G4 is capable of higher (white) brightness. Want a similar stupid bright image on the Samsung? Enable Active Tone Mapping and Contrast Enhancer Low or High.

@@braden9536 There is a difference in details comparing Sony QD Oled and Samsung QD Oled when gaming also. The TV's do processing beyond what the source is sending. This includes how they map tones using different algorithms for their panels and tuning and other image enhancements that are not user configurable. It's true this demo is not 1:1 with native HDR settings. But even then they will look different. Samsung game mode runs over saturated and over brightened out of the box. LG has the wrong color temp. You need to correct some of that at last if you want something close to the creators intent. Though when it comes to gaming, I don't think creators intent matters as much as if you like how it looks.

In the video, we have the G4 using a hack with DTM to be able to show an impressive image, but unrealistic from the point of view of the game developers, while the S90D with the Contrast at 50 in this game shows that no matter the quality of the panel, the image can be very bad, with the colors overexposed, removing many details, the default Contrast value on the S90D should be around 45 for any game mode, and if HDR Tone Mapping is active, the Contrast should be around 37 so as not to kill a lot of details, this with HGiG active which is mandatory to better highlight the bright areas. A few more points, in SDR content which should be the case here, the G4 can get up to 60% brighter than the S90D. In HDR, that advantage drops considerably to below 25%, in some cases delivering similar or even darker brightness without DTM on the G4.
@consumerreview2k5 ай бұрын
@RenatoKazuo8w. Hey thank you for the comment and checking out the video. It's the same thing as not wanting or caring for accuracy when watching a movie. This is not an accuracy comparison. As far as colors taking away from details goes, I think it depends on the color itself. I notice details not being as good in the colored with dtm on but in more natural tones it lg dies a rather good job preserving details. I'm not much of a fan of accuracy or creators intent. If that was what I wanted I wouldn't spend the money on tvs at this price point. These tvs arcade to adjust and tune them to really pop and shine if you so choose to. And in gaming that's where I like them set. It's a personal preference that's all. And not a single soul should tell another whether there settings are correct or incorrect. It's totally fine how you prefer your tvs settings and it's perfectly fine how I like my own. Not the biggest fan of accuracy of colors. As long as I can get that wow factor I'm happy

@@consumerreview2k the problem with DTM on LG is it manipulates the EOTF curve (hdr version of gamma) so dark scenes and mid tones gets brighter than they should be. Its clearly visable in this video. G4 is a brighter tv, but the only thing that should be brighter in a dark scenes are the highlights., not the overall scene as a whole.
@consumerreview2k5 ай бұрын
@dante19890 that's the same complaint dtm has always had. But for gaming it's almost necessary to have on if you want overall brightness. You can get a little more brightness out of it outside of game mode when gaming but it doesn't provide that pop that you want when gaming. Also remember the reason why game optimizer gives you more then one way to utilize black levels along with being able to control your white levels makes it customizable all while having dtm on. So it's very flexible. Ithe g4 can get very bright while still maintaining clarity. All while being really good at maintaining details. There are times when it's obviously an issue. Like walking out of a dark tunnel with light at the end and looking completely blown out. Or looking washed out in backgrounds due to dtm on. But it's gotten at least better. Dtm is the vivid mode of tone mapping. It may not be accurate or highlights can be blown out but it's still very punchy and can give you that wow factor too.

Only the Samsung S90D in size 64 inches, specifically with the marking QE65S90DAT, has a QD-oled matrix. Unless it's different in the American market if you come from there, because I'm from Europe. The 64-inch size also has a regular OLED matrix, but with a different marking. I have the opportunity to buy such a TV with a QD-OLED matrix, but I wonder how reliable your video is. If it turns out that your TV has a QD-oled matrix, I don't want to buy it after seeing what you show here. And if it turns out that your S90D TV has a regular Oled matrix, I will be happy. Because that would mean that the one I can buy will be brighter than yours. In your video, the S90D is so dark that I don't feel like spending half the money on such equipment. Watching such a darkened image is not a nice thing, and the colors are probably more expressive because they are darker, not because they are more vivid, and that is the difference.
