I love my LG Gram 17. It scares people when I two-finger hold it, and then I hand it to them, and every time, their hand flies up when I let go. They always expect it to be several times its weight. But you didn't point out a couple very important (to many of us) features, namely that both the storage and RAM are slotted and upgradeable. It has 2 M.2 NVMe slots, and a RAM slot with 8 gig, and you can put in a 16 module into it for 24GB of RAM, should you need it. All that in a package under 3 pounds. I've already dropped a second 512GB NVMe card in mine.

@@MA-Kareem-Hassan You would think it's fragile. Check out some 2018 LG gram 15 reviews on its durability, more specifically, it passed seven stringent U.S. military MIL-STD 810G durability tests. Heck, why listen to me talk, just search on youtube for those brutal demolition tests done on the gram, there's plenty around. After that, do you really think it's not fit for your "daily" backpack?
@FromDesertTown4 жыл бұрын
It can take up to 40 GB of RAM (if you put a "compatible" 32GB stick in there). I put "compatible" in quotes because LG does not officially say that you can put more than a 16GB stick in there for a total of 24GB, but some 32GB sticks do work in there (I'm using a 32GB Crucial stick, others have had success with other RAM sticks from other manufacturers).

@@superjboy16 They never said it was about the weight, rather than the form factor. You need to keep somehow a fat body if you wanna fit a USB slot there. As LG did on the half back of this laptop. The form factor of the new MacBook Pro is insanely thin. Barely fitted the USB Type-C slot. You need to hold one in your hand to understand how thin it is. As for the stand, people are looking at it wrong. They could make it a part of the screen and charge more on the screen price, but they've it separately for all those who use wall mounts and they don't need the stand. Of course, is overpriced as fuck, but they're giving the option to NOT buy it if you just want the screen. That's not actually bad. That's a step forward for the greedy monster called Apple. These words coming from a person that never owned an Apple product whatsoever and probably never will.

Just a few things could have made this laptop nearly perfect for a lightweight mid-power laptop. The lack of dedicated GPU and lack of at least 3K if not 4K display. If you see the inside of this thing you can see they had lots of empty space for cooling and even a bigger battery. I would have no problem bumping the weight up to 3.5 pounds max. What would make this laptop nearly perfect is adding at least an MX250 GPU, 3k or 4k resolution, 17-inches is fine but maybe 16 inches like the new rumored MBP could be the sweet spot. And one last thing aside from changing that tacky looking chrome LG logo, would be to use one piece of glass that extends the entire length rather than just up to the inner bezel edge. Take a look at the Dell XPS and HP Spectre lines. The glass to edge looks very clean, modern and attractive.

But the thing is...Would you, Mr. Mobile carry one of these laptops as your daily driver or you’ll stick with the MBP? I’m a college student and I would love to have a laptop that is light and large but I have to say that LG doesn’t offer the built quality of a laptop that expensive. I know that the magnesium casing helps the laptop get its MIL-STD 810G but so would my MBP 13 baseline model with a heavy duty case( I literally dropped it at roughly 3ft yesterday and the edge of the case was broken off but the laptop is still working fine for my usage since then). It also doesn’t offer the continuity that MBP does with iPhones, Apple Watches and other things that are the Apple Ecosystem. I know I sound like an Apple fanboy but I also love Windows and Android for it’s super wide customization options! Since I don’t have time to mess around with that anymore, the Apple Ecosystem is the safest bet for me when I’m in a college and working.

"It also doesn’t offer the continuity that MBP does with iPhones, Apple Watches and other things that are the Apple Ecosystem." As for me, if I didn't depend on FCPX for work I would have switched away from the MacBook long ago.
