You may want to wear gloves while you're soldering and handling the spool of solder. Also, wash your hands in cold water (so the pores in your skin doesn't open up). Lead can be absorb through your bare skin. For a repair business, you'll be in contact with more leaded solder than your average person. Great video as always!

Thanks Harrvey. We can never be too careful right? While I always make sure to have ventilation and fume extraction, touching the solder wire by hand has never been something that I've thought about. Someone told me that it has to either enter your mouth or nose to do any damage but better safe than sorry. Now to find some tighter fitting gloves...

While the usual transmission is through the mouth (ingestion) and lungs (inhalation), in it's solder-wire form, it can be especially tricky (imagine rubbing your eyes or covering your mouth while sneezing when you're working). Leaded solder has a lower melting point than pure lead. Better to be safe than sorry. You never know what carcinogens are on and in these phones.

Removing the anchor's solder that is closer to the pins in always a pain for me. They seem to not want to stick to the braid!

Yeah it takes more heat there usually. Sufficient flux and good wick go a long way to help.

When they sell it more or less than a $100 - 120 bucks ..... I know you have to keep the lights on.... But $65 ...... An external battery charger and 2 extra batteries are a better option..... And thats why they switched to batteries that can't be removed.. So they can't
@GoCellPhoneRepair5 жыл бұрын
Hi Raider ROBB. I'm not sure where the $65 came from so I'll assume that maybe this was a quote from your local repair store. Determining labor fees is a great topic though and I will have to do a video about that one of these days. In fact when people say that the phone repair business is no longer profitable I suspect that they have made some serious errors in this calculation either on the low or high end. I am a fan of extra battery+external charger despite earning a living in this business. It is sad that virtually every major manufacturer has moved to a non-removable battery in order to prevent customers from extending the lifespan of their devices. They have purposely made it difficult and dangerous for the user to swap them out for a new one.

Is there anyway to replace charging port without soldering flux, only tools I have a is a known tool kit
@GoCellPhoneRepair6 жыл бұрын
On this model not really. Technically it can be removed using with just a hot air station but without cleaning up the old solder and using flux you'd not be able to attach the new one with reliable joints.
