I too had a noise when the turntable went around. I have a Hamilton Beach microwave. Actually sounded like popcorn popping, which was the glass "rumbling". Followed the tips here. Cleaned the rollers and the "track" the rollers traveled on. No more noise. Problem solved. Almost ordered a new turntable motor. Thank you all for your tips.

My GE was grumbling as it turned. Cleaned the rollers and the plate and floor. Wow it worked. It's quiet now

I have this microwave and it had the exact same problem. Took out turn table and roller and found there was grease/dirt where the roller made contact with the base of the microwave. Cleaned with a warm cloth and did the same for the roller wheels. Wobble noise gone. This worked for me at least.

this worked - I'd done a quick clean a few days ago, but giving it a good cleaning fixed the wobble sound, thank you!

Same problem. Blew up some butter the night before. I ended up doing a deep clean on the wheels, the bottom of the microwave and the bottom of the plate and it stopped.

Had the same problem and it is gone after a thorough cleaning of the wheels and the surface they sit on

What is the little piece on top of the hub is it

Hi all. I was able to fix this issue. Had the LG repair tech out here today. He replaced the motor and the shaft which didn't fix the problem. He eventually found that one of the wheels had a little extra piece of plastic (leftover when it was punched out of the mold at the factory). He shaved down this extra plastic and the noise immediately went away. Said he's been repairing LG microwaves for many years and first time he's seen it. Post back if this fixes it for anyone else.

Had the same noise and replaced the turntable motor twice before realizing the problem was a few crumbs stuck to the wheels of the ring under the turntable! Funny how I would always lift that piece up and clean under it but didn't think to clean the wheels themselves. Wish I would have realized that before going to all of the hassle of ordering the turntable motor part twice, trips to the store, and going to the effort to replace it twice, only to go back to the original part.

Same here. Annoyed. I just installed it 2 months ago. I washed the plate, wheels and the groove they roll in. No more noise. It seems a trace amount of residue here creates a sound rivaling the garbage disposal. Still annoyed.

Im experiencing the same issue with my LG

LG Service just left my house for same problem. (Should have checked KZbin first). Ours was quiet for first 6 mos then suddenly started making this noise. I was afraid motor or drive was failing so since i was still under warranty called LG. Serviceman put in new motor, drive and ring. It's the same. Looks like they have a design problem. They are sending me a new glass tray too. Serviceman says it slips on ring and more texture where plate contacts roller may cure the problem.

Hi Ray. Did you get your LG microwave fixed? We just bought a new LG countertop model and it is has the identical jerky motion on the turntable.

+Gregory Smith Hi Greg, I had the same problem with my new Panasonic microwave. I found that the rotating plastic protrusion that links the motor to the turntable plate had some parting lines from when it was injection molded, and it was rubbing on a metal finger in the cavity where the plastic protrusion fits. I used sandpaper to sand that parting line smooth and now it turns much smoother. Still a little jittery but I think that has to do with the fact the parts fit with a lot of slack and the remaining jitter could be the second order impulse response from the plastic piece engaging with the plate.

+Yue Fan We ended up just keeping it as it got smoother over time and wasn't interfering with the cooking. We also found why we got it so cheap from Walmart as they had it on sale. When we asked about taking it back we found they had no stock and no plans for any more.

I'm also having this issue. Did you find a fix for it?
@RayLutz9 жыл бұрын
+Mike Battle -- We replaced the unit with the same model. The new one was not much better. I found that even higher priced microwaves have the same crappy turntable system. Over time, it seems to be much better, but still jittery. The idea that +Yue Fan mentioned above did not apply to ours. There is no parting lines or anything catching on the spindle. My theory now is that the little wheels were catching. As it is used, they spin better just due to wear. I suggest if anyone has this problem you try some vegetable oil on the wheel axles.
@gregintokyo37069 жыл бұрын
+Ray Lutz We found this as well. As time goes on it does kind of war in and become smoother. We ended up keeping ours.

I have this same microwave & am very pissed at the design. The exhaust fan switches on each time it is used to cook and is very loud and annoying.

Same exact microwave and it's making a horrendous sound. Like a mix between what Hollywood makes dinos sound like, chebacca and swing metal grinding on metal as it swings (not squeaky but deeper). Only ways I know how to describe it. Never buying this garbage again.

To add, my parents gave us several handm-me-downs when we moved into our house. Some thibgs weren't needed like the microwave and fridge from the 90s, but they downsized and the appliances were still working; no harm in taking them in. 7 years later both our microwave and fridge took a dump. I setup both and they were working just fine but small for our family. Used them for months and they still work to this day. We boight both a new fridge and microwave and this microwave is already doing this. What a pile of crap.
