You did a nice comparison. I actually own the dual inverter model and it is very quiet compared to the many others that I’ve tried. The Midea unit is also very quiet. Keep in mind some of us do like noise in the background when I use my split unit I actually have to put on my sound machine because it is just too quiet completely in audible.

I don't know why this doesn't have any comment. Very very useful and exactly what I needed to test. Looks like the LP1419IVSM is ok.

Thanks for watching glad you like the comparison noise level test, and yes the LG LP1419IVSM is definitely a nice and quiet portable AC in all fan modes. I can easily fall asleep when it's in Sleep Mode and Low Fan Mode, and even Medium and High is still low enough to fall asleep through. Cheers!

Any information as to whether LG is launching a newer version of a dual inverter portable AC? It’s hard to justify paying $1000 CAD for a 4 year old unit
@weekendgearguide7 ай бұрын
Hello and thanks for watching! Unfortunately, I don't know if LG will be launching any updated model, as the current model based on my experience so far is reliable and does a good job. Perhaps LG is living by the moto "if it ain't broke don't fix it", and while there is definitely truth to that, the reality is that AC technology hasn't really made any significant leaps in AC cooling efficiency or noise reduction in the last 4 years in my opinion for LG to justify releasing a new model. I recommend that if the LG LP1419IVSM goes on sale in the next few weeks leading to summer, go and get it if you need one of the best portable ACs in the market today. Cheers!

Nice comparison《☆》I wonder how dependable & how long the dual inverter compressors will last compared to the tried & true rotary compressor ?

Odd conclusion that the LG does not reach rated DB when clearly the LG went below the ambient noise floor. Your ambient noise floor being 49-50 obviously impacted final results especially when no unit was on and you still had a 49db to 50db ambient noise measurement. Surprising you didn’t catch that.

Where is the thermostat on the LG LP1419IVSM. One of my minor gripes with this unit is when I want to know the room temperature via the LG ThinQ App, it always reports that the room is "cooler" than it actually is. For instance, if ThinQ says 76*f, its actually 80*F in the room. How the heck do I "calibrate" it to get the A/C unit to report a more accurate reading of the room temperature? It would be nice if the remote control was the thermostat, like it is on some other A/C units. Other than that, this unit is nearly flawless.

Thanks for the video! I might pick up 1419IVSM in the near future and this might help me pull the trigger. Though just a heads up. Phone apps aren't the best for measuring the ambient noise unless you calibrate it with a physical meter that is made to measure sound. Edit: Actually I see it now, it's measuring in dBZ which is unfiltered. So every little bit of background bass is adding up. If you can swap it to dBA it'll at least be a better reading to compare to. Assuming you do something like this again in the future. -Also the app doesn't say what scale it's measuring in. I'm willing to bet it's measuring dBC instead of dBA. I know most AC companies shave off a few dB to make them look better than they actually are. But they are measured in dBA not dBC.-

Any updates on the noise level? If you ended up getting it.

@@baroqque I tried a portable unit comparable to the LG (Whynter ARC-1030WN) but ended up returning it and getting a window unit that just simply fit my needs better. It's been a while so I forget how quiet it was in terms of dBA. But it was pretty darn quiet. I just have a overly humid environment that the portable AC couldn't tackle on the normal mode. If I used the dry mode it would work fine just I didn't want to deal with the drain I had to connect. In normal mode It doesn't need to drain, but it made the humidity worse. (Wish these units had a dehumidify mode that at least turned off automatically at a set temperature or humidity target.) I got a MIDEA window unit that has been great so far. Quietest AC I've owned. (Does have a high pitch noise but it's not THAT bad. Still wish it didn't have that noise though)

The only reason I got the Whynter instead of the LG was it was on sale for under $450 or something like that. Figured I'd give it a try for that price.

You cannot measure 44db with almost 50db noise floor in you room... for accurate measurment you need a lower noise floor, preferably 5-10db below the level you're trying to measure.
