LG OLED C4 Unboxing, Setup, TV and 4K Demo Videos

I've assembled my parents Sony TV and my previous Panasonic in under 5 minutes. The C4 came with the worst set of assembly instructions in the box. Online is just a duplicate. With a separate TV manual online with no assembly instructions. Glad I found this video! I can imagine some people think the screen has small bubbles because the instructions don't even tell you there's a screen protector to take off!

The instructions are absolutely horrible. Shame on LG. You pay this much for a tv because you want the best and they make something that should be simple, very frustrating. The drawings were small and not very helpful. You would think they could do better. I used this video to assembly mine. Took only a few minutes but I had a headache looking at LG's.

@@leemayes4363 I've just set it up and couldn't do it, not without risking breaking it anyway, I laid it down on the bed, installed the stand by myself, but picking it up and moving to the TV cabinet was beyond safe handling, it's more top heavy than you'd imagine so picking it by the stand seemed too risky and even if I managed that, it's still very awkward to hold, in the end I picked up a guy from the street and gave him $10 to help me lift and position it, took less than 10 seconds.

Thanks Dan for the excellent contributions. I got a 55 inch C4 for $1996 from JB and following this video to install, hopefully al, should be ok. I wonder why do you need to go to Retail Demo view ? Further shall we also choose OLED Maintenance Option to clean the saved images?

Hi Dan, can a double socket and plugged in power cable fit behind the upper part of this tv when mounted with a fixed flat bracket? I see there is roughly 4cm depth between the unit and screen?

Must be the season for it, I just had a phone call from John Lewis saying they can't repair or replace my C1 that they took away two weeks ago and here's a full refund instead. Now trying to work out what to get as a replacement and whether the old soundbar will work ok with the replacement. As I still have the old stand (they left it when they took the TV away) I compared with the video and while it looks kind of similar I'd guess not.

@TellyDan Recently I have upgraded from a Fujitsu plasma which was purchased 20 years ago and still working perfectly but of course won’t be able to play 4K video or can it. I could have upgraded the set top box to see if it can process the video type. I reaching out to you hoping you can assist troubleshooting my issue as LG cannot assist as to why I’m not able to get sound from my Home theatre sound system which I bought at the same time as when I purchased my Plasma. I have gone through the set-up on the universal remote as it powers up when the LG is powered up but I get no sound with no signal displayed but recognizes it noting it’s a Panasonic SC-HT500. Any suggestions?

Always select cable when installing channels cuz will install all channels as if it was a box.

​@@amazingdude9042 I own 55" C4. There is no green tint. There was no green tint on the 65" C4 in John Lewis either - believe me, I got them to test the TV out for this issue!

Depends what is impotant to you, if you watch a lot of low bitrate content like streaming or ota. C4 by a mile...much better upscaling

This is 99% the same TV as the 2023 C3. The only changes are a different backplate design, a few new menu settings for HDR, including adding Filmmaker Mode to Dolby Vision (which just replaces the Cinema setting from the 2023 models), a new version of WebOS (which is itself 99% the same as WebOS 23) and a small improvement to SDR/HDR brightness (around 10%). The fact is that most of these yearly TV updates are iterative. Maybe next year's C5 will finally have MLA from the G series to justify the release asking price? It's why I opted to get the 55" C3 instead for £950 instead of paying £1,800 for the C4. I could not be happier (it replaced a 2019 LG B9).

Assembly instructions are terrible. Was much heavier than I thought trying to lift it. I have the 55". Not sure what I would have done for anything larger. A bit hard to know where to grab it.

@@jckrell true, but youtube videos are excellent and it's actually quite easy, you just have to plan ahead, find something to lay it down on, put in the stand, and then lift it up to put it on the stand and this last bit takes two people, at least for the 65 incher, I paid a guy $10 to help me lift it, took 10 seconds.

I've been gaming on my 65g2 for 2 years and no burn in. I only went for the g series as it's nice and close to the wall. The c series are still amazing

Anyone else noticed the terrible sound quality? I have the 55" C4 direct from LG. The sound quality is dull in standard mode and grating in AI mode. My friend's £369 55" Roku TV sounds better! I know TV's need a soundbar but this is ridiculous! LG have 3 C4's on sale the C44LA, C45LA, C46LA. They're supposed to be the same but it's worrying the C4 is the only TV LG doesn't list the Audio Power Output for. Supposed to be 40 Watts but sounds like 10! Mine is the C45LA.

@miketsai75 in the UK you get a 5 year warranty with them so you're covered for that at least. The only oled we've sold that went faulty was a 55b9 and that was replaced after 2 years with a newer model. That being said sometimes I guess it comes down to luck

@@johnchase2112 I had 3 lg g2 tvs all had issues 3 months after opening out of the box. I eventually got a full refund. I then bought S95c Samsung so good I bought another for the second living room. Also scored better in reviews on rtings. Lg just has fan boys that get butt hurt Samsung is better and scored better. More color more brightness :)
