LG REFRIGERATOR ERROR Code Er1F ERIIF ER IF ER 1F repair - QUICKEST EASIEST FIX

For some reason I woke up at about 12:30 AM Friday night and I went out to the kitchen and that’s when I noticed the error code “Er IF” (error code Ice Fan). I was so frustrated because it was the sabbath and I didn’t feel like taking out the top freezer drawers so I could access the back panel of the freezer where the ice fan is located and where I need access in order blow hot air to defrost the ice fan. So I thought to myself “how can I fix this easily”. I opened the refrigerator doors and looked at those ducts in the door jam that feed the ice maker and I thought “those ducts in the door jam lead directly to the ice fan.” So this gave me the idea to use a blow dryer to force warm air into the ducts to melt away the ice that had built up around the Ice fan and guess what? IT WORKED!! Problem solved and in 1/2 hour the error code was gone. I also noticed that the vents at the back refrigerator panel on the very top shelf had been blocked by a plastic bread bag and for some reason this is what typically causes the ice to build up on the ice fan. So keeping those vents in the back of the frig on the top shelf unobstructed is critical to keeping the ice fan from freezing over.

Fantastic made a cardboard tube with some duct tape ran it for nine minutes. Found some water inside the freezer that had refrozen when it hit the freezer floor. Turn the power off to reset the error code. And I heard the fan start up. !!!!! I don’t know why yours doesn’t come up at the top of the search. I’m so glad I made it down to see your Video thanks again

I have an LG French door Fridge, and kept getting the error code of FF. I was just about to spend $125 just for a service call until I saw this video. Worked "Spot On"! But I did it a little differently, but the same method. I took the Freezer bottom of the Fridge halfway apart, to where I could get to the vents of the Freezer Fan compartment. Then I got the blow dryer and blew the hot air into the vents for about 10 minutes. I could actually see the ice build up on the coils, from the left vent. Then afterward, I put together and reassembled the bottom freezer. I had a little problem with the control panel still, but something in the middle of the night kicked in, and now...NO PROBLEMS! Thanks, John for the great idea! Saved me money...especially during a Divorce! :)

I did this, and it worked! I did it twice, once at night, and again in the morning. I covered the top vent with my hand, and blew the warm/hot air into the bottom vent for about 5 to 10 minutes. I moved everything away from the front of the top shelf air filter. I think blocking that caused the problem initially. I turned the fridge off at the electric box, and it reset. Good so far, and it's been about 5 days. I DID NOT WANT TO EMPTY and DEFROST.Yay!!

John Vega John I am so sorry that your, home, belongings and town were consumed by the fire in 2018 in Paradise, CA. Right now, our refrigerator and freezer are stuffed to the brim with food to assist us in making it thru this stay in place coronavirus. The 1F code appeared this evening. My first line of defense is Google when it comes to that type of thing. I know that particularly things are not always what is suggested. My eyes fell upon your demo and I was this is what I need to do. Like others have said, Thanks, John and I shall say “thank you very much John Vega”. Sharing your knowledge is still working. Good info for next time, thanks. I'm in the middle of doing it the old way right now. The drain off the coils was iced closed so probably needed to be done anyway. But once you get started, in a humid area, you're committed. Then you just have to dry everything completely. 🇺🇸

Hey it DID actually work! Thanks a ton. Seems more effective to blow warm air into the lower vent as cold air comes out the top vent, indicating it is circulating thru the freezer/fan. Did not get the same effect blowing into the upper vent.. Also, not sure covering the top vent actually makes a difference as it might be impeding the warm air circulating thru the fan. Error codes gone and ice tray full, one week after doing thew fix.

Wow, that hair-dryer technique is an excellent idea! Thanks for sharing, John. I have LIKED and Subscribed to your channel. Another good one is to utilize a powerful STEAMER fitted with a power tip attachment...it can really help defrost the blocked vents super fast! That HOT steam melts the ice build-up easily and it doesn't take to long (depending how much ice is built-up in them). Plus, it refreshes & cleans the vents & refrigerator all at the same time. ;-D Don't worry about the temp of the steam...it's HOT enough to melt the "iced" vents, but not hot enough to warp the plastic surrounds. 😀 I learned this from the Tech/repairman that came to my house to remedy ice blocked vents, etc. The problem was solved in under 15-20 minutes. *NOTE: I did have to remove some of the food containers, bottles & jars, etc. away from the central vents AND pull out a few drawers due to having really THICK ice build-up at the back wall and directly in the vents. TIP: Just be sure STEAM is coming out...NOT just really hot water. You do not want to shot WATER in the vents (then you will have another problem)! Just make sure the steam is in the VAPOR stage ONLY! You'll know it's WORKING (defrosting) as soon as you see the steam vapors rolling out of all the vents (the vents are linked together). Also, have a few thick dry towels or paper towels handy to absorb all of the "melted" ice and bucket to collect all of the falling ice pieces. LESSON LEARNED: Going forward...I will avoid crowded the refrigerator with a lot of stuff...especially in front of those precious VENTS! ;-D

Thanks! Your method REALLY works with minimal to no removal of any food items in the fridge. My had just started to show the "Er IF" code the other day after buying it new from SEARS in late 2012). It did take me 45-60 minutes to thaw the ice buildup on the coil (impedes the ice cooler fan) by blowing into the lower vent on the side of the Kenmore Elite fridge--maybe I have excessive amount of ice, but actually, I just wanted to make sure I melt most of the ice buildup before plugging the fridge back on. EIF is a frequent error code on the new LG refrigerators due to poor or nonexistent defrost system. My LG refrigerator stopped working in March 2021 and the hairdryer trick worked with the side vents located in the refrigerator section next to the icemaker vent. the EIF error code came back a second time in June 2021. and this time the hairdryer failed to defrost through the refrigerator vent. took out the freezer compartment drawer and used the hairdryer vent on the vents in the back of the freezer compartment for 20-30 minutes(intermittent heating) left the refrigerator off for 1-2 hours switched it on and pressed the reset button on the PCB. It takes 5-10 minutes to start cooling again. Now back to normal and making ice. its going to happen again. before the EIF code comes up the freezer will start squealing, and thats when the hairdryer needs to be used on the vents

Yes IF - error is "ICE FAN" - 60% of the time the fan ices up. Using a blow dryer to clear the ice is a good idea. The other 40% of the time the fan itself or the wiring to the fan is bad.

Fahim Zaywari when you forget to leave space on the top shelf air filter it will happen again. Keep the air filter on the back of the top shelf open and it should not happen again.

That’s what started to happen to mine and so I put the paper towel attachment to prevent that from happening.

Your bread didn't cause that being a LG caused that the fan is in the freezer blows air to your ice maker they get ice build up and blocks air flow then you get i.f error technically you're supposed to replace back panel in freezer it comes with a new motor with built in heater or you can go the cheap route and let it manually defrost unplug fridge 24 hrs leave door open...btw I'm a service tech I work on these

Mine did this error and both my fans working,I'm having this noise caused by the fan rubbing on ice build up, it seems like the ice jam my fan and cause that error to come up. Let me ask why is that ice building up every couple days? Why?
@eddiegarcia8040
@eddiegarcia8040 5 жыл бұрын
@@UNLOCKCONNECTIONS have you defrosted the ice unplug fridge leave doors open for 24 hours minimum then plug it back in if you have then you may have to replace the whole back panel which comes with a built in heater and it depends on where exactly you're getting the ice build up

Thanks for sharing. I noticed that when the top shelf is too crowded the ice maker stops working. Maybe it was just a coincidence
