Excellent video, but how do I tell whether this part is good or bad when the refrigerator is not cooling at all?

You need to press the test button at the back motherboard box two times and it will give you an error code. If the code says “22” , you can replace the compressor relay. If you google the error code you get, you will get an idea the problem part/system.

@@DarthNero per the service manual, pressing the test button twice will set the refrigerator to have the damper closed and will make the display read 22. The number 22 isn't conducive to a problem. There are three test modes and the display is indicative of which test is being performed. Pressing it 3 times will propogate the number 33 on the display.

To test this part, remove it like shown in this video. The circular object that is orange and black is the thermistor. To check this thermistor, use a multimeter to check the resistance across (or do a continuity test) and if the resistance is low and you have continuity the part is good. This part is designed to "open" the circuit when the compressor gets too hot and shut down the power to the compressor.

This thermistor will open the circuit depending on the surrounding temperature. If the compressor starts to overheat, the thermistor responds by opening the circuit and shutting off the power to the compressor.

Um that's not a thermistor it's a start capacitor

Thank you for confirming this observation. In fact the technician states that he will show replacement of the starter device (aka capacitor).
