His exact words are "you might temporarily want to avoid (buying) this" and then again "i'd give it a second (before buying)" regarding LG fixing the issues. He also talks about how it does not charge the MacBook correctly (as it doesn't put out 85w like it should) and points numerous flaws, like the design itself. Really, I don't know how you can think he didn't mention flaws or he was biased in any way. It seems you only watched the first few minutes. Maybe watch the whole thing again.

Because you can't set up the monitor in such a way that makes sense ergonomically and get the webcam properly framed. As long as you can't set up the webcam's tilt independently of the monitor the framing will always be shit and aimed at the top of your head. That means that while you're using the webcam you basically gotta bow down.

Thanks for the honest review. I have one unit myself and overall, I'm pretty happy with the quality of the screen itself, but very unhappy with the quality control. I've returned my unit twice, first one had rattly speakers (yeah, I realize it's not something important for a monitor's built in speakers, but it bothered me that a brand new unit was like that), and the second one had one large dead pixel smack in the middle of the screen along with very poor light bleeding). The glossy finish can also be quite annoying during the day time. I've had both of my returned units about 3 feet from my Comcast router, and I didn't have the shielding issues you had mentioned though. Maybe it's because I also have my PC setup placed between the two.

I totally agree with you on the "charging - display" cable setup. I am a software engineer and uses the new macbook to program on. Three Things to Change Before I Would Buy 1. Slim down the bezels (at least make them even all the way around) 2. Upgrade the build materials from plastic to aluminum 3. Add some legacy ports at the back (HDMI, SD Card, and USB type A) If they did this I would pay from $1000 - 1500 for the monitor. But until then it feels kind of cheap.

A professional in this case is someone who needs a display of this caliber to do labor. A monitor that will display accurate colors and that can be calibrated with ease. A monitor that isn't going to die after twenty hours...or more realistically, one that can be calibrated "to spec" years down the line because the tubes inside aren't burning out.

For me, this monitor is a miss. The whole concept is "you can have a very high resolution external display that also charges your macbook". So the thunderbolt input is decisive here. But it completly forgets that since the macbook pro does not have external ports, the display could become a docking station. Charges your laptop, gives you USB A ports, maybe displayport, and perhaps an SD card reader. Like putting a Dell TB16 dock inside, basically. Now THAT you can market as a Macbook pro power station.

Great review - I've been using a 2K Apple Thunderbolt Display for photo (Affinity Photo) and video editing (DaVinci Resolve) for a couple years with my 2018 6-core MacBook Pro. I'd like to be able to make use of the single USB-C cable to charge my MacBook Pro - even while rendering video. I also need to have 2 or 3 documents open on-screen at the same time, when striating contracts etc. What 27-inch (or larger) monitor would you recommend that would work for me? Thanks for any input.
