crazy im phone shopping to replace my ageing note4. im digging the v20 and its specs. how do you feel about the upgrade?
@ljessecusterl8 жыл бұрын
James Coyle I really like it. Very vibrant display for an IPS panel. I never really used my stylus on my Note 4, so I don't really miss it. The fingerprint reader beats the hell out of the Note's, and the sound quality is worlds better. Not to mention how smooth the phone is overall. The second screen has already been of more use to me than the Note's stylus. I'd recommend some hands-on time to see if it's right for you, but so far, I'm really happy with it.

Definitely check out a demo unit for yourself and see if your experience with it matches mine. But I'm happy with it and after my Note 4 battery went bad after a year, I can't bring myself to have a phone without a removable battery if I can help it.

ljessecusterl yup gotta check out a demo first... likewise batt of my N4 is just useless now lasts upto a day or several hours on heavy use...ill stick to removable battery ones, they are the best imo.

I've had the V20 for 3 days now. got it on early release from Verizon. the camera is awesome. especially the wide angle lens. the speakers are insane, very clear, powerful sound. The battery is also great! at the end of my 9 hour work day, with moderate use throughout the day, I'm at 65-70% at 4pm. Not bad at all. also dig the type c and the quick charge. was a nice transition from my Note 7. I highly recommend this to everyone. Nice to be back with LG.

@SDav218 жыл бұрын
If you want it to get to its brightest level outdoors you need to leave it on auto brightness. Doing it manually won't give you the full brightness even at 100% unless it is in very bright light with the auto mode enabled

I've just (March '18) bought a used, but immaculate V20 because I needed a new phone and I discovered that this was one of the most recently released models that retains the removable battery feature. Phone manufacturers seem to have decided that consumers prefer a waterproof phone to the convenience of being able to pop in a fresh battery whenever we run low on juice. Not me. I simply refuse to give up that flexibility and I hope other people who feel the same will make the likes of Apple and Samsung etc. (and now even LG!) see sense. Admittedly, the new so-called 'fast' charging technology is an improvement on what we had before, but there's no substitute for going from 0% to 100% in just seconds.

Great review, enjoying the V20 so far. Only disappointment has nothing to do with the phone but that Verizon has opted to take out some of the features, like the smart settings and pinning apps to not close from the active apps window 😠 unfortunately they provide the best coverage where I live.
@jakebeej16698 жыл бұрын
Robert Norris can you tell me exactly what those features do? I am planning to get this phone on Verizon and everything seems perfect except this.
@robertnorris82958 жыл бұрын
Jacob Beejo I had watched a ton of reviews on this phone prior to deciding to buy it and some of the features I was really looking forward to was the ability to set WiFi profiles and choose which app is launched when connecting headphones (the smart settings), but much to my surprise they were missing. Some other features that I have noticed missing that I think were just victims of the missing smart settings are the ability to have your signature display on the screen off (not a big deal) and the ability to pin apps to not close when you select close all in the task drawer. There may be others that I haven't noticed, and with these things it's not so much that I can't live without them, it's just knowing that they are there and Verizon chose to take them away from me (along with loading bloat ware that we can't get rid of 😐) . None of this would in no way discourage me from getting this phone (it is a great phone), as I'm sure they do things like this to all phones (I found posts about this going all the way back to the G4), I was just disappointed in Verizon. Thanks for the question and I hope you enjoy your new V20.
@jakebeej16698 жыл бұрын
Robert Norris Thanks so much. The quick settings are the only thing that I would see myself using out of those features, but that's not too much of a loss. I knew it seemed a bit strange when Verizon was pricing this phone so low, and I was expecting something to be left out like what they did with the note 7. The bloat ware is manageable because 64gb is more than I need and with android it is not too hard to hide all of it. Thanks again for the reply, I hope this phone works out well.

Amoled-DIsplays arent't oversaturated anymore (at least for 2 years). And even the Note 3 had display settings to change color tempurate. The LG V20s display is far from accurate (over 9000k color temperature). Btw 256gb mirco are available since June 16. The DAC is nice to have but i don't think it's audiophile cause it manipulates the sound to much. Don't get me wrong i like the LG V20. I even imported one since it isn't available in my country. It is a worthy successor for my note 3. Last thing is multitasking. Android 7 and the LG V20 is worse then my 3 year old Note 3 with Kitkat. I have multwindow since 3 years ago and i could change windows size how much i like. Multtasking -> With the App Switchr (which doesn't work since Android 5) i could switch between all my apps superfast and in real time. And now Android7 celebrates that it can switch to your last app. Bravo what a success (fucking bullshit). I real hope Xposed Framework works soon on Android 7 and i can use switchr again.

Dimmer outdoors than the Galaxy S7? You must have a setting out of place [auto brightness?]. The S7 has a max brightness of 493 nits verses 537 nits on the V20. In general AMOLED screens don't get as bright as their LED/LCD counterparts. Also, they LG's screen is way towards the cooler end [@ 9100 K].
@DroidModderX8 жыл бұрын
the AMOLEDs are easier to see in direct sunlight than the LCDs regardless of brightness. In my experience I have to turn the brightness all the way up to see the V20 in direct sunlight.

@vpkb8 жыл бұрын

@divinejakiro36568 жыл бұрын
nope. they sharing same feature. but current lg v20 is using new image sensor imx298(1/2.8) while G5 is using way larger sensor size imx234(1/2.6) which way better for detail. but v20 Should be much better in low light because it support rgbw. but sacrifice sensor size. which is much poor in detail if compare with G5. so i wish to how LG enhanced the camera of v20.

awakenosiris you can change that in settings. i wish they would do it like the pixel. no app drawer button you just swipe up.

I had nova launcher. I didn't see thai option. I see swipe up gesture, not quite the same though. Installed action launcher three. Works great and even had all the pixel widgets.

I must be the only one who HATES on-screen navigation buttons. That is a major gripe. it just takes away from the larger screen...sigh

Christopher D no I don't like them either but I'll deal with it for this phone because this phone has everything I want in a phone.
