Looks a great phone. For a 6” screen it doesn’t look that tall, really nice design. Wide Angle Cam, Quality DAC, Headphone Jack, SD Card, FM Radio, IP68 Water and Dust Resistance, Great Build Quality (MIL-STD-810G compliant) Bluetooth 5, Fingerprint Scanner, Wireless Charging... ticks so many boxes. Nice one.

gumball It's a very good phone, I commented so above. However to have the best multimedia experience there is one essential component. That's the best screen on any phone. It has a good screen but not the best.. I'm not knocking it, it's a great phone at a competitive price.

Love my LGV30. Battery does last longer. Great screen picture. To customize your app icons you do have to get an icon changer app. But absolutely love it.

What splotchy area? I don't see anything. I think people are making a big deal out of nothing. When does a phone screen ever show just grey? Although I don't see the splotchy area you speak of??

I have a V30, I absolutely adore it. It is a lot harder to show on camera the issues the display has, but in person it is a lot more clear. In day to day use I never notice it, except when im in bed in low brightness it becomes a lot more apparent, it doesn't show up in only grey, but also white. If I go into my settings at night, or google something at night, it is super obvious.

Yeah, I would say a large majority of the devices have it. Every tech reviewer has had this issue pretty much and so have I and all the other people I have talked to. Use yours at the store and try it out before you buy it. Put the phone on the lowest brightness and load an entirely grey image and check for splotchiness. Keep asking for another until you are given one without a trash display. I got pretty lucky and mine isn't too bad, but some are horrendous. There is just something with LGs displays, it is the reason why the Pixel 2 is catching so much flack, LG made their screen and it is having these issues as well as much worse issues.

superguy4217 Well it's just the start of production. I did see it in store and I looked at a test unit at LG head offices in my country. I turned down the brightness and looked ar a grey screen saw no issues. We are only getting the V30 plus. Which is great. The only thing I noticed was a shift to a blue hue on a white screen but then the same thing happens on a Samsung screen but it is either reddish or greenish. I still think it is a non issue. Most are not going to notice until it was pointed out. It's so silly. The screen is good.

The screen is good, not great. It doesn't hold a candle to the note 8. Secondly it is NOT the start of production. They did preproduction units for months and months and still managed to screw up the screen this poorly. If you didn't see it, then good, it is a non issue for you. For people who think $800 phones should be drop dead absolutely perfect and clean my house for that much, it is a huge issue considering you stare at the screen the entire use of the phone. And no, I noticed it as soon as I got the phone. I ordered it online before the screen hype. And yes of course the test unit they are going to give people in the head offices are going to be their best production units, so no you wouldn't notice issues on one there because they would choose one with the best display to show.

Just got this second hand for 500€. Had the G6 but selling it and I had to admit this phone is beast! I've had V10 before I bought both G6 and V20 second hand. V20 is a good phone aswell but it feels like V30 is combination of G6 and V20. The size is just perfect! The V30 is the best LG phone so far. Buuy it!

Isaac's Tech I owned the G5 and hated it. Cheap build quality, garbage display, and subpar camera. I was glad to get rid of it.

Isaac's Tech I thought the colors were really dull, and it was calibrated way too blue. I'm not a huge fan of LCDs in general, but I wish LG didn't calibrate theirs to be so overly blue.

I'm watching this on my Note8. LG V30 is a really nice phone. It's only letdown is the screen, though it's not overly bad and many people won't notice it. It's certainly good enough and can't be called bad quality. Seeing as it's cheaper than others some people can accept the trade off and it's not a huge trade off either. Thankfully they gave the bad quality screens to Google rather than use them themselves. I think Google have themselves to blame for that. They purposefully bought old generation low quality screens for Pixel 2 XL from the bargain basement. We can't blame LG or Samsung (there're also old gen Samsung screens on Pixel 2) for that. You only get what you paid for. Note8 and LG V30 are the only 2 new flagships worth buying at the moment.

Brian M I have the note 8 too. There really is nothing that's as good as a galaxy for screens. It's almost an unfair comparison to compare anything to a galaxy. I love that wide angle on the V30 though. I have the G6 for a back up for my note. I'd love to add the V30 to my arsenal of devices.

It's an LG problem but Google can fix the colors with a software update. The blue shift is the polarization layer under the screen so you can view it while wearing glasses.

The biggest disappointment with this phone is the speakers. I was shocked when I first put a call on speakerphone, the sound was horrible compared to the S8+. The other disappointment is the front facing camera but other than that this phone is amazing. I love the rear cameras, especially the wide angle camera. Never realized how handy and how much I would end up using the wide angle camera. I just wish LG would of added OIS on all the cameras.

V30 camera is sharper than the s9 but the s9 low light camera and front camera is way better than the v30. The v30 is a lot cheaper than s9 but both phones are really good.

The v30 display when turned all the way down trying to view images is terrible it shows you blotches of black images which should be lit up to show you it is actually there so disappointed I wanted to love it but my Note 8 still wins and even the Galaxy S line destroy this for less money

I have used gflex 2 so i saw p-oled screen. It really is disgusting. If you care about the screen you look at, you should avoid it. Ofcourse bootloop issue on that phone might have clouded my judgement as well.. :)
