i used a DSLR camera about 15 year ago before DSLR camera included video recording. Manual mode is good for camera photo still. The best part about phone camera is you see the result of the ISO and shutter speed live on the screen. Manual focus is good for photo. I cannot imagine manually changing these setting while recording video especially the scenery is constantly changing. Really good video explaining all the manual features!!

Yeah before I use a DSLR this how I use to film 90% of all my videos manual mode all day long. Once you get use of it you will never go back to auto mode. I have to use it to compare other phones but I will never use it for filming

I have been pushing people to use manual mode in many of my comments, yet 99.9% of reviewers never review a cameras manual mode, it's auto or nothing and then they come to camera and video conclusions with only the auto mode. Totally ignoring that it is manual mode where the magic and true control for the best pictures and videos happening. Yes it takes a little more work and knowledge, but it's more than worth it for those that are not so lazy! Get the best out of your cameras and mics, for video and audio and photos, use MANUAL MODE!!!!!!!! Even the iphone becomes better at photos and video and audio, if you pay $30 extra and buy filmic pro for manual mode.

I usually use a variable ND filter for the 180 rule for the shutter speed. Beastgrip makes an awesome, albeit more expensive, cage with the screw in attachment for I believe a 37mm ND filter. Great for bright outdoor shooting if you want to stick to that 180 rule.

i love LG Thingq models because is really the best smartphone for content creation, sadly you forgot to mention the most important features of this phone that no other brand has, the ultra wide angle camera with good resolution and stabilization, i picked this phone so i don't need to use a go pro to have big frames to capture everything, specially for vloging with a good view from the envirorment, this literally gives u a better quality than a go pro with a good angle, better sound (even more if you use a directional one) and gives u the hability to control lighting, iso, etc, it takes the best from all worlds and put it in a smartphone I love Samsung Galaxy S as smartphone to do everything but i literally bought a LG ThinQ as extra just for making videos

The v60 is a great starter cam for content creators. Its the only phone great for it due to the manual settings and hires recording and being more true to life in color which is better for editing, although I recommend getting a decent dslr if serious about creating. So you can see my confusion. This is what I read. (Huawei P40 Pro will have two cams with large Sony sensors, plus two zoom cameras) Then add in that sony was in collaboration with the german company Leica to make or share tech to make the sony xperia 1 ii. The p40 is a beast but is banned were I live. And sony would give it a run for it's money. Sadly I was disappointed with the p30 pro video performance. Not that sony, before xperia 1, evan came close to the p20 even. But now many manufacturers have cought up with there softwares to render better pictures. And I dare say 80% of phones use sony lenses. And what separates them is software. Lg has always had a solid phone in manual performance. My v40 takes better night shots then the v60 with it's 30sec shutter. Better then I dare say the p20. And till this year I finally see hope there are upgrades for me. 😁

The audio from video recording is on point. The mics pick up a LOT of sound!. Really wish the front facing camera didn't have such a shallow depth of field and they brought back the WIDE angle lens on.the front camera

Yes at night set your SS to 1/125 if you are shooting at 60fps SS to 1/ 60 if you are shooting at 30fps. Make all your adjustment in ISO for low light. Thanks for watching

Check your v60 for widevine l1 in streaming apps or drm info app to see if your phone is faulty or not. Tmobile version here is widevine l3 which means no HD video streaming as not drm certifications were installed properly or qa tested. Can't be fixed, contact warranty

Great video Eric. Your reviews in general have been great but this one is arguably the most informative. Some of the best phone pictures I have taken have been in manual mode but need to take up the leap of faith for manual video mode. Ordered my V60 earlier today and will be getting it tomorrow. Only bad things is with Verizon you have to wait 6-8 weeks for the free second screen which sucks but after paying $500 after trade in (over 24 mos) it will hopefully be worth the wait. Out of curiosity have you seen any screen protectors for the second screen? Keep up the great work!

That's too much work for me.so I'll stick with auto mode. I love LG phones cause they're good and affordable

242razor Even if you don't do any adjusting it still produces higher quality videos partly because of the higher bitrate option and hi fi recording option. You only need to select those options once

Hello, Can you help: Why when using manual video and shooting at 120 fps the whole frame gets cropped (Like zoomed in)? i disabled stabilization and steady recording to get more field of view. But on the V60 120fps zooms in! My LG G8 does not do this.. why?

@@TheTechPreacherFact. Reset it did not fix it. Unfortunately in this V60 that I have the 120 fps and 240 fps videos are using the 2x zoom mode. Its annoying. The LG G8 does not do that can also do 120 and 240 fps with the wide angle lens weird...
