I am not a Muslim, but I don't believe westerners should impose their values on other cultures, just as I wouldn't want Muslim values imposed on me (Christian not liberal humanist). I think I do understand to some degree where Muslims are coming from and westerners need to respect that. I think Christians and Muslims actually have some values in common such as a respect for tradition, family and faith.

Obviously there is more complexity than a single KZbin comment section. I think the best compromise for the world cup is to allow the West to openly protest, and let Qatar govern its society as it sees fit. The important thing is that this debate happens openly.

If you’re caught in the act (not simply being gay but having homosexual relations out in the open) then the punishment is 7yrs in prison, which is the same punishment as if you’re caught fornicating while not married. People need to look up the laws and understand them better. It isn’t this barbaric let’s behead who ever is gay type law. It is a deterrent for those who may want to act in such a way in public. It’s about keeping your sins private and not broadcasting it for the world or having it out in the open as that causes moral corruption or helps it become more widespread. There are gay people in Qatar, and I know a few who live with their boyfriends and girlfriends. They just know better than to wave rainbow flags and make out in public and that type of PDA is culturally unacceptable for both hetero and homosexual couples.

@@Falasteen7urra for the purposes of discussion, let's stipulate the most if not all of what you said is true. Leaving out the extreme cases of death or jail, lgbtq people are still treated poorly. Workers from the Philippines were deported for being gay, and cohabitation is still illegal. This debate is not about promoting lgbtq people's life decisions. It's about personal freedom. What's the point of a spiritual path if it is enforced through coercion? It loses the nobility that emerges from personal sacrifice. It becomes no better than secular laws. Anyway, that's my assessment. I generally feel that ideas which must be strongly enforced imply a sort of weakness of the ideology on which they are based. So if anything, it's bad optics for Islam.

In Islam we believe men and women have equal rights however they have different roles that they fulfil. Some are obvious and others are not. For example One such obvious role is one can procreate and the other can’t. They have equal sensible logical rights in Inheritance and marriage. The man is always the defender. researchers consistently fail to address the magnitude of this issue. People ultimately need love and validation. When a man doesn't matter to a woman, when she doesn't gaze at him with a loving smile, tell him she wants him/needs him, that he matters to her. A lot of guys have never had that. This will cause disillusionment/isolation/soul sadness and mental health issues in men. No amount of material things, por* will be able to replace that. The problem in the west is 2 fold. Incels can't get a woman and the ones that do get one, end up in divorce/breaking up or being cheated on and losing more than the lady. So they swear off relationships and end up lonely all the same. (Mgtow) Both have the effect of creating lonely, angry, atomised ppl and broken society with plummeting birth rates. And can spell the end of that society. What are we seeing in the west now? Falling sperm counts, falling testosterone levels, births, marriage, anomie and a rapidly ageing society, with catastrophic debt levels. White ppl used to have close family bonds but now they no longer keep ties with family and send old ppl to homes. Jobs for life are a thing of the past, from where they used to form friends. White ppl lost their matchmaking culture and used to marry form within their own tried and tested social circle. With all that now gone, internet dating and cold approaching/PUA random women that u know nothing about is the way. Which can be dehumanising and toxic. Peace

Some time after I came to Europe I learned about the concept of subjective morality which something unthinkable to my brain. I think it is one of the biggest differences between countries such as middle eastern countries (even the christians there think of morality as something objective). So basically in Europe we could vote if the guy who goes out in the street and shoots randomly is a criminal or not, and he might have the Veto "right".... (even the word "right" is an objective thing or coming from god rather than something we decide to choose based on our "view"). In addition the muslim is supposed to consider that the default state of humans is ignorance not knowledge, so once we know some rule is from God we might ask ourselves why and why is it "BAD" to do such or such rather than saying I don't see anything bad and this God seems authoritarian making rules for pleasure. This is a reminder of why it is very dangerous to think badly and illogically of God, because one would reject a God he made absurd assumptions about (e.g rather than saying I don't know/understand or ask why etc some people say God is bad/unjust etc and project on him the bad behaviour of some humans e.g authoritarianism when in reality God only asks to do Good things and if something is forbidden it must be bad). In contrast it feels like in the West, people act like some children when their parents prevent them from doing something bad they will say I am not convinced I don't see how it is bad. Basically the West (when I say the west i mean some of the stereotypes) expects God to explains himself and everything he does, this is an inversion of roles. Ironically, very often in science and academia etc, western scholars are not arrogant at all quite the opposite most of them are very humble but when it comes to philosophy and God, I feel there is always the attitude of we know all, if we don't see something it does not exist, I don't see blabla and I am not going to even think because it wastes my time thinking whether God exists or not... The analogy with parents is just to simplify things, of course God cannot be wrong in contrast to parents and has to be trusted no matter what.
