I love auxetic structures! How wonderful would it be to apply this technique to thermoformed, fully bespoke cast or prosthetic design?

Excellent material!! Optimization algorithms and applications.

This is very interesting research. When you specify the closest constraint for consturcting target surface, is it specified to be close to each triangular mesh in the three dimensional surface or just three dimesional surface? Also, when a 2D domain is created, is it possible to apply auxetic patterns regardless of each meshes?

it seems that all the deformation has been concentrated to the vertexical connections between the apparent triangles after the "mecedes"-shape cut. On supra-molecular level, wouldn't this compromise material strength?

So... Where I can download this said program?

Thank you for your presentation. The physical examples are wonderful. Printing or otherwise cutting/ the material will definitely be useful for many purposes, artistic and industrial. Your algorithm could be incorporated into various design software. This concept could be used to help understand calculus and even cosmic inflation theory....

Is it possible to make auxetic structures small enough so that it can be used with fabrics for clothes or accessories?
@racos19395 жыл бұрын
Actually yes. Auxetic materials don't have a length scale, so they can exist at any size. The real challenge would be the manufacturing of these materials at the small scale for mass usage.

Imagine a smart auxetic material that has some sort of memory in the joints to remember their angle.
