why are you killing them? because of food? Or for fun?

Thanks for Your question! Sweden has the highest population of mooses per areal. At our own land our team get a licence for 7 mosses plus optional after that if the larger county does not fill their licences in all teams. Personally i hunt by tradition in family on our land. I eat moose once a week all year round. It's a privilege to be a part if the hole chain for me. Teaming up with folks where I grew up and the connection to my heritage. It's a true way of beeing a part of the nature. Beside this our large moose population effects production forests and agriculture. One third of the population is like harvested by hunters and landowners each year and the population is still growing. Well tendered moose tastes really awesome.

Amazing how capable that round is.6.5x55se is fully underestimated in my opinion. Since in Germany the wild boar population skyrocketed most hunters say that 9,3x62 is the only savior. Maybe 8x57is.
@Braapncamp Жыл бұрын
Hi, no doubt the 6,5X55 does a good work. I have got alot of mooses with it. No o e of them have walked more than 20m after the shot. Many actually less than 5m. But with that said, the moose have large lungs. The wildboar tend to bleed less, but I use this Varberger to all Scandinavian games.

Very nice trip for your moosehunt and congratulations to the nice bull. It sounds so good to be a hunter, wandering around between elkpass back for some coffe, back to the elkpass again and soon back for lunch and chatting along friends , then back elkpass then back for dinner. Sounds really atractive to me if i may say. Nice doneshots at the intro of the vlog, it was very captivating, nice job

Thanks Jonas! It was fun to bring out the drone again, not used it much lately. A very large portion of this moose hunt week every year is ofc the social part and connection to the roots. To fill the freezer is also a very nice contributor. A bull is Always a bull and with this size i must say it feels special, i'm very humble for the life of wildlife as i also feel proud in some way. For Bibbi it was the first one and she was over the top :D.

Wait a minute..... hold on! What is this? Drone footage 🥰Finally tjommi 👏🏻 Really nice to see how you guys hunt and the team spirit. we do it the same over here. Have hunt alot of Deer, but never Moose. What an insane size difference there is on the animals. Me personally don't like to sit and wait so much, i'm walking on small bird hunt etc even tho it has been some years since i last went out hunting. Congrats on shooting the big bull... what is your name now? Sitting Bull 🤣🔥 Really enjoyed this
@Braapncamp4 жыл бұрын
haha, your comments are always the best tjommi. Sitting Bull, liked that one. Tough as steel. I don't like this form of hunt as much as the one when i let Konrad loose on small game as well. But he like to run for moose as well that little doggo. I also did much pürsch hunt (smygjakt) on roe deers when i was younger, liked that alot. But this is something else, to hear the dog (jämthund) stand the moose and sneak upon it is also very demanding and triggers the hunter in us. Thanks Thomas!
@tshansen4 жыл бұрын
@@Braapncamp Yeah, my best friend when i grew up had the same dog as you, strihåret dax as we say here in Norway. She was crazy after deer hunting. Se changed the pitch in her bark everytime she got the sense of deer. Amazing. Smygjakt is so intense, but can be hard and demanding in some terrains. I really admire this kind of hunting as well, but I think i would have missed my shot because of me wanting to take a picture of it 🤣Love to see you and Bibbi sharing this interest, nice to share this kind of hobbys. Again, keep up doing what you love. Makes your videos great.

It's always a trick in this situations with a camera. But i had captured the shooting sequence if i had done as i do when i'm alone. I rigg the camera before and start it as soon i hear whats going on. A running bull is nothing that you don't notice long before you see it. At acres and marshlands the sneak very good even running. But in forest you hear them. In those beautiful mossy forests they sneak unbelivable well also. In november we will continue to hunt!

I need that sled! Thats a good design. The ones i can find here in canada are at rectangular.
@Braapncamp2 жыл бұрын
Hi, thats interesting because we call it the "Canadian sled" or Canadapulka. We bought it in our local hunting store. Best thing we ever have used. 25 years ago we pulled the moose's out of the forest with straps and then tractor. After that we used a timber/forestry trailer After the ATV, but that was tight in the woods. This sled is used for some 15 years and still going strong pulled by hand or mostly after the ATV. So easy to just tip over the moose into it and very little friction to ground while transport. Must be better with the open end that we have on ours for large game.

@Ryan Devall I use 6,5X55 with Norma Oryx bullet 10,1g. Self loaded cartridges. I acually think I'm the only one in the team using 6,5X55 today for moose hunting. There is a varieity inthe team with .308, 30-06, 9,3X57 an so on. But the 6,5X55 does well! Never had any moose walk longer than 25m after hit. This one in the video, just fell where it stood. It came behind me with out Jämthund dog 1-2 minutes after him. A very beautiful moment in all aspects.
