One time my dad bought a big bundle of computer stuff in the 90's from goodwill and we found a floppy that said "do not put me in" so naturally we proceeded to put it in a drive and a screen popped up saying "deleting hard drive in 10 seconds click cancel to abort deletion". When we tried to click on the button it MOVED AWAY FROM THE MOUSE CURSOR! So when it got to about 3 seconds left my dad yelled "PULL THE POWER CORD!!" And that absolutely made us poo a little. But we built a little computer out of the parts we had and put the floppy in the unimportant computer that was clean and let it count down and the screen just flashed "Haha made you shit your pants, love Steve" in a ms spray paint can style font.

I did something very much alike to my dad, only in an ms-dos .bat file. It was just a list of texts asking for confirmation to wipe the drive, and all of them "advanced" and asked for confirmation again. The joke went a bit short, my dad saw the first one and switched the power off! I realized that I hadn't cover all possibilities :P I might have been better with computers, but he was smarter than his teenage son ;)

2.0 MB is the unformatted capacity of a 1.44 MB diskette. 2.88 MB diskettes have an unformatted capacity of 4.0 MB and also have the "ED" logo on them, for "Extended Density". However, IBM's floppy drives do not have a media sensor, so you can stick in an ordinary 1.44 MB diskette and format it as 2.88 MB without any problems -- although the data integrity may not be as good as if you used a real 2.88 MB disk. And the 8515 monitor can actually display 1024x768, so it is an XGA monitor, not just plain VGA.

Lazy Game Reviews The 2.88 MB Drive needs 4 MB Floppies to format a full 2.88 MB, they are not useless in the least however, they generally can recover data from floppies that have been badly kept or that have aged poorly, as you have a few extras maybe you could connect one to the imaging controller for floppies, should cut down on time spent and increase accuracy of the images. Very cool and interesting stuff you got there. Brings back memories of my early days of computing. I've always liked how the IBM's systems looked back then. My first computer (stand alone/and on my own) was a Radio Shack TRS 80 model 16 with two 10 inch floppys , built in display, And 10 megabyte external hard drive. 512 or 640 megabits of ram and running Unix/Zenex . I got this system for free from family member and remember hearing it was 16 thousand dollars when purchased new. I also tinkered/programmed with the Commodore pet until I got frustrated running out of system ram. But my favorites when even younger was the Texas Instruments Ti 99 4a with voice synthesizer box, tape drive, And external floppy drive all hooked up using a tv . I also Used cartridges and I had the extended basic one as well. Loved the games for that system. Also loved the Apple 2: C, D, GS models. I remember in computer lab seeing an apple 1 made from wood mostly. Great times back then. Thanks for putting this video out there :)

Finally got around to watching this vid. So much drool. Got a wide smile on my face when you said that you've once installed Win95 from floppies, and that was the last time. Same here dude. :D That's one of those "once in a lifetime" experiences, at least hopefully.

I was working at EDS when those new fancy PS/2 computers came in. We had been using AT&T PC 6300s or EDS badged PC clones. Those PS/2 computers with their 3.5" hard plastic floppies were beautiful!
