Freaking LOVE this version of Carol of the Bells because there's so much going on! The original melody almost becomes a backup harmony to the other music. Almost. That's virtually impossible to pull off, let alone without doing so to the detriment of the original music, but this game accomplishes it. Like the creator of this video, I often played just to hear this song. LOVE IT!

If Jazz jackrabbit is essentially Sonic with a gun, does that mean Shadow the Hedgehog is a spiritual sequel to Jazz jackrabbit?
@crabman31447 жыл бұрын
As a Sonic fan, I'd say it's more like a shoddy knockoff.
@lionocyborg60306 жыл бұрын
Maybe. I thought more recently that Shadow was more of a third person Sonic themed spiritual successor to Rise of the Triad. Incidentally, Shadow is my favourite 3D Sonic game of all time with both Dreamcast games (on that specific console) and New Sonic the Hedgehog (2006) taking second place. When the debugged PC port of Sonic 2006 comes out, I hope it is able to join Shadow in a joint first place like the original should have. I already own and love the two demos of Sonic 2006 PC and I really want it to get finished and come out so I can play the whole thing.

@karry299 Most platformer-loving PC gamers my age I've talked to. It's an opinion, not cold hard fact, and there's no expectation of you agreeing. Do you have a problem with opinions somehow, judging by your recent comments? My apologies if I implied it was somehow a fact, as such a statement would be ridiculous in the most obvious way.

Wow, old review for an even older game. Loved the Jazz games! I love watching these reviews, I can play vicariously through you. Thanks.

@ioctlvoid Yeah, the encoder and video capture method I was using around this time sucked. I've since remedied the issue, but yeah, Jazz looks amazing at the real speed and fluidity.

Am I the only one who thinks that if LGR can keep up the kind of speech pattern he had when he said "On the PC for DOS" at about 0:43, that he could produce a rap album? LGR: Lazy Game Raps! I'd buy it.

Let's all just take a moment to stop and admire Robert Allen for creating the soundtrack. Especially his take on Carol of the Bells (Candion). Which just straight up sounds like what would happen if Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails decided, "let's make an instrumental cover of a Christmas song."

@hitachi088 I record using several methods. Using DosBox for emulation, using S-video/composite output directly from certain PCs, or by converting the signal from VGA->S-video using a scanline converter and then using a PC capture device to get the footage.

I know that feeling of listening to a game's awesome music. I recall playing the (unofficial) sequel to Final Doom's Plutonia Experiment, and when I got into the third level, the music just sounded so awesome I practically didn't care if I was doing well or not, I'd slaughter all the enemies in the way, pause the game, and just listen to the awesomeness that my MIDI Soundfont presented to me. Heck, I feel the same way about the Jazz Jackrabbit Holiday Hare Soundtrack, even though I only got a few minutes to listen to it over your speaking, but you get the point. Awesome soundtracks are awesome, MIDI format or not.

I like Jazz Jackrabbit series, although I have never played first part of the series. I have JJ2 and expansionpack Secret Files on my computer. Great games, but difficult because you have to be careful when you are on the highspeed. I think Jazz Jackrabbit could be a great saturday morning cartoon. It's has a "cute" animal character WITH A GUN.
