I invented and manufactured The Claw in Australia! I was just sitting watching the video and a product that I made comes up!!! WOW!!! I would love to see it in oddware. Many of those Claw's were made in my home garage at the beginning. I made The Claw because I wanted to play better than my mates and I was crap using WASD on the keyboard! The claw was used for first person shooters. I made a prototype out of Clay and used it at LAN parties (remember those!), then a few mates wanted them. One thing led to another and I thought I would make them in my spare time. The first production run was made with all the money I had as a I was only 23 at the time. On the first launch night I sold so many that I had to stay home from my full time job the following day to build more. The demand was great and I was overjoyed. Then I had so many orders that I employed staff to work in my garage at home. When that was not enough the Claw was manufactured in China and I made many 1,000's of them. It was a product I was very proud of. It funded me to travel to E3 a few times and I really enjoyed buying all my gaming gear as a business expense!! It was a lot of fun and taught me a lot about running a business. The one shown in the video is one of the first PS/2 versions and I would have assembled it myself in my garage at home :) Version 2 had USB. Version 3 had USB and 10 buttons instead of 9. The claw was discontinued on the 10th of March 2011 as the market was changing and freight was really expensive (when I started I could send one from Australia to the USA with DHL air for USD9.00!). That Elektronika MKU-1 calculator was made in the 6th month of 1991. If I'm not mistaken it was made at the Billur factory in Ganja, Azerbaijan which still produces point-of-sale hardware. Cheap casing is the result of the double-edged sword of perestroika.

It's always fun watching these, and I've no idea why? It's kind of like watching someone else open their Christmas, but not getting any yourself. I guess, it just brings back memories of either having them, drooling over them in shops/magazines, or things you never even knew of, or have just plain forgotten about! Okay I HAD to comment. My jaw dropped when you got the Saddle Club Willowbrook Stables game, because that’s a game I got wayyyy back in elementary school through Scholastic Book catalogs (I grew up in the PNW so it definitely was in the US haha). I owned 2 copies of the game for some reason, neither in big box (though one was in a jewel case and the other a DVD case). Game is interesting, I never finished it because the graphics were low enough that I kept getting confused with a puzzle later on, and there is some repetition to the tasks, but it’s a cool game, and was my first “open world explore on horseback” game and I would play it for HOURS. May have some compatibility issues on anything newer than an XP, so keep that in mind if you ever play. But I strongly recommend giving it a go. It’s a silly horse game for girls but dude, I played a LOT of those as a kid and this one was up there as a favorite. Otherwise I wouldn’t have installed it a month ago on my current computer to play again, haha.

Seeing that horizontal gateway2000 computer sent me on the deepest of nostalgia trips. My first personal desktop was one of their BabyAT compatible builds that my uncle and I upgraded to its absolute limit and brought me joy despite being horribly outdated by the time I got it. It's actually a goal of mine to find another and retrofit the case for modern components for going to LAN parties like PDX.

Clint, the Antex card is a multi channel sound card used in radio station automation. Somewhere I have a breakout for the port that fired a series of relays to control things like say receiver channels and such.

I loved playing Star Saga 1 & 2 back in the day! It was basically a single-player RPG, set up a lot like solo gamebooks, and you really did need to consult all of those booklets as part of your interaction with the game.

Wow! Just caught up with this video after a few years with following LGR..... That Tandy TRS-80 brings back some memories!! At the little shop where I worked then back in the early 80's, we used to sell those computers, alongside the UK equvalent (almost): the Dragon 32..... back in their day, they were great machines, but hampered by the lack of graphics colours and resolution compared with the Sinclair ZX Spectrum, and C64. Unlike many, I liked the small, flat keyboard of this design... it always felt nice and 'clicky', and was very responsive. Those emergent years of home computers were fantastic times.... :-)

From what I remember from playing Star Saga 2 a couple of times, players would take turns inputing their moves into the computer; the computer would then tell the players to read certain paragraphs of description in the included booklets-- and plan their next moves-- trade, combat, exploration etc. The descriptions couldn't possibly fit on a single floppy, and besides, it saved time if the other players could go off and read while someone was keying in moves.

I have a sealed American box of Netstorm that I bought for collecting purposes. I first discovered this game on a typical "100 in 1" pirate Russian CD of the early 2000's, which was full of ancient PC games, mostly for DOS, but some for Win 95, and it was completely translated and voiced in Russian by pirates. It somehow became one of my favorite strategy games. Love the priests with their over dramatic phrases when they call upon the power of the elements. I'm surprised you never heard about this game before getting it sent to you. Definitely a quality game.

Ahh some nice memories of games I played ... small tip for playing Evolva that I recall from top of my head and worked for me with level I struggled the most with: if you get to the stage where you have to guard starting location from enemies coming in through the hole, put your 3 slowest hunters just around the hole to autoattack creatures coming in. Take your fastest hunter and just blaze through your objectives outside of settlement. Invest all genes to speed to make him (her?) even faster. You don't even have to kill most enemies. In the end all hunters had enough material to mutate, not only the one you ran around with.

Netstorm was one of the weirdest RTS games I have ever played. Strangely, I remember that the multiplayer servers were still online after 10 years, and people were still playing.

Highscreen used to be a computer brand distributed by the now defunct Vobis chain in Germany. During the early to mid 1990s, they partnered with a designer named Luigi Colani, who designed cases for Highscreen computers. We used to have one of those ourselves, a 486 one, probably a DX2 with 66 MHz, i don't remember the specs, but it was a huge ass tower case, with the later retrofit CD-ROM being a complete oddball. I didn't know Colani even designed the exterior of joysticks.

Hope to see the trs80 coco vid! Radio Shack actually partnered with Motorola here in Austin to build the chips for it. My grandfather moved to Austin in 1979 and worked for Motorola. Apparently, before I was born, he'd bring home games on chips to test and built a rig to connect them to an Atari my family had. Not sure if he worked on the coco but definitely knew about it.

I figured out LGR's motives. He's planning to amass the largest collection of 1960s-2000s technology and become a famed historian like Pliny the elder because everyone else sends their stuff to him. CLINT! OMG man, when you oppened one of those boxes and the "my grandma and me popped out, real nostalgia and childhood filled tears started dropping. I was transported to the day when my father brought home what i believe was a Power Macintosh 7200 with a big sleeve book full of games and demos such as this one, pathways into darkness, how things work, one game about a hamster city of some kind where the only games you could play (due it being just a demo) was a canned food factory. It was so good to see that game alive and to remember how happy i was back in the day. Plz if you can or know can you make a video about these not so well known mac games? You would make the child in me happy once more :D

Hi Clint! That computer is probably clean inside. But I thought I would give you some tips about QIC tapes and drives like that. They sense the ends of the tape by using an optical sensor in the drive that shines a light through a hole in the tape. The achilles heel of these drives is that when the drives fill full of dust like computer do, the dust can block the optical sensor so that it doesn't see the hole shoot by. This makes the tape come off the spool and wrap around the other spool completely rendering the tape useless... or so it seems. If this happens to you, you can open the QIC cartridge and crazy-glue the end of the tape back to the other spindle then wind it around the spindle a few times after it dries... Blow out the dust in the sensor with some compressed air and your'e back in business. Have fun using a severely obsolete tape drive. :-)
