I am SO happy to see this demo from Bugbear. The FlatOut series is waaay up there in my favorite driving games. And as a huge BeamNG fan i seriously can't think how this could be any more perfect. I really wish i knew about the KickStarter so i could have thrown my money at the screen... but oh well. Definitely pre ordering!

Just in case anyone was curious about the frame rate stutter, it's definitely on LGR Plays' end. Probably just running his recording software along with the game. The tech demo is optimized extremely, extremely well. I have a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 (which is like 4-6 years old?) and it runs great.

The tech demo looks better to me than the more completed game footage. The style of the demo has this awesome Mirror's Edge clean, lighting, bright colors feel going on. I've seen a bunch of videos for this game, and each one makes me want it more and more, but just one problem, my laptop couldn't even run the demo of the tech sneak peak gameplay on all of the lowest settings and maintain a stable framerate! It would lag the moment I grinded my car up into millions of pieces like you've done here a few times, although it did run better if I looked away from all of it, or didn't cause anything to shatter into millions of pieces... but where's the fun in that on a game like this?! :P I know you said that this isn't a game, but really this tech sneak peak of Next Car Game is a game within itself too, considering the endless hours of repetitive fun that can be had by smashing cars up in many many hilarious ways!

The physics and graphics are great. It really needs that fun factor though. I have had endless fun at lan parties with MTA:San Andreas and the DRA SCHWANKENHOLZ maps. It's destruction derby by means of pushing people off platforms above the sea and it's strangely addictive. We've had up to 30 people playing for 5 hours non-stop with this game and I'd love to see them incorporate this into their game.
@raminudl11 жыл бұрын
If you've ever played a Flatout game, you'd know it'll be way up there in the fun factor. Even though they could be frustratingly difficult at times, the amount of physics stuff they could run on a PS2 was amazing so you'd always wind up with debris everywhere and broken down cars in the end of a race. Really challenged your skills and was so cool to see things just fly around everywhere.

If some of this more complete stuff was included, then I would be buying this right now. This looks like it could be more fun than Beamng. Although fun, Beamng still has problems, like sudden loss of input from the 360 controller and some nasty crashing. Though, that could lie on my system.
@keeperofbeans601011 жыл бұрын
I think in some ways Beam is better at the moment, but Bugbear have done a really good job at optimizing the demo so that 24 cars can be smashed to pieces without massive lag, but knowing that disappoints me as well because the final game is going to only have half that.
@TheVeryEnd8711 жыл бұрын
Don't say that ;) To quote the dev Janne Suur-Näkki: "Well, more cars was one thing that you guys were asking, wasn't it? Unless something major comes up, we will keep the 24 cars for the full game at least for offline play. We have been already testing track races and derbies with the full grid of 24 cars, and thanks to our efficient tech, the performance hit is surprisingly minor. The chief problem is that, as you can imagine, the tracks get extremely crowded since most of them have been designed for a lesser amount of cars, so the going gets quickly very rough. But of course that's something that can be worked around, so it's not really going to pose a problem. Online is something that we cannot confirm yet." 24 cars ... holy sheit
@VailedFool33311 жыл бұрын
How can an almost totally different game be "better"?
@keeperofbeans601011 жыл бұрын
VailedFool333 They both claim to have "soft-body physics." I think it's right to compare. Bugbear devs have even mentioned Beam before on their forums.
@VailedFool33311 жыл бұрын
***** If Next Car Game has softbody physics the devs must have made the most optimized game ever! Beamng lags with 2 cars for me, while I can play with 24 cars in NCG with no problems.
@curryking111 жыл бұрын
BeamNG seems to focus on different aspects, like simulating each panel of cars at all times. You can see the cars actually morphing in and out of their regular shape, which is cool, even when they just drive around, or make tiny drops. But the cost of that is only being able to have 2 or 3 cars on the map at once, whereas in this game you get an incredible damage model plus 24 drivers at once (I bet the engine could easily accomodate more on current upper-middle range PCs) and a great driving game. I think BeamNG is rather fun to play with, but the way they have designed it is not meant for a game I think, more just a sandbox and focused on absolute physics simulation. Bugbear's game is really a game, which is important. Even though the simulation of each car isn't calculating physics on every panel of the cars at every moment, the collision and deforming simulation is just as good as BeamNG I think, and that is great. I think Next Car Game is more worth supporting!
