@@RS250Squid I'll have to give that one a try, thanks for the recommend, I saw it before, just forgot I guess, hah. Awesome video! I remember in the 90s companies popped out of nowhere and flooded shelves with garbage! They blew their entire budget on fancy boxes that contained crap that smelled so bad the cat kept trying to bury it in the litter box. And they had you by the short hairs because wherever you purchased the game from always had huge signs that stated: "No returns on open games" thus relieving the store of any liability. The internet was in its infancy, so there was no KZbin, or Twitch, where you could watch the game being played before buying it. I think that's why crap companies faded away, there's no more bait and switch anymore. Like you, I had a box full of this crap. Some never worked at all. In fact, I was so excited when I purchased Alien vs Predator. Got it home and installed it on my Win98 system, only to have it crash the OS so hard I had to reformat the thing... I did get it working for about 30min once, and it seemed like a cool game, until it crashed my system hard again. I never tried installing it anymore. Some of the games I wish hadn't worked, because they were just awful. There are still some awful games today, but they don't last very long once the word gets out.

Outpost was a good game in my book. It just had the great misfortune to run afoul of money grubbing executives like so many games do when large powerhouse publishers are involved. OMG the epic Big Rigs!!! Very nice video. LGR you should do such video again here in 2020 :D 9:21 - "I've seen better gameplay on a vending machine!"
@galloe89338 жыл бұрын
Long ago, around the time you made this video, maybe a year or two before it I saw the reviews of Big Rigs start to roll in. I almost bought that game from Half price books when it first came out because I like trucks. From the first review, to this very day I wonder if I dodged a bullet or missed an opportunity to be on the ground floor of something that would soon be famous... Had a few DOS games that could have made this list if I still had the Hard drive they came on, or their names for that matter. I guess it would not matter anyway because I don't think they came on disks but had likely been distributed on user boards, or something. I'm really glad you do reviews on old tech though, I mean this was good but everyone wants to talk about the new hot tech thing coming out, new game machines, or "retro" things. Not too many people make in depth reviews, or share information about the computers that came before, and you do, and I like listening to you talk about that stuff. I would say subbed, but I've been subbed for a bit now.

Hey, the angry video game nerd reviewed number 1. But I have a very interesting questions for every one of you. If at the store you saw a game titled "The Worst PC Game EVER!!!" and it was available for 99 cents, would you be morbidly curious enough to buy it?

Why isn't The Town with No Name on this list?

It's fucking hilarious, that's why. You can tell they just didn't give a crap about making a serious game just by the "creation of" skit.

The Town with No Name is an Amiga game, kid.
@TimeWalk3r9 жыл бұрын
StrobeFlashLite I know this comment's old, but there does exist a DOS port of this game. It was even shown in Awful Games Done Quick 2015. The best part about this is that the manual option in the DOS version just brings you back to the menu. They didn't care.

wow, outpost made this list? Outpost was/is still one of my most favorite pc games ever. Sadly, Sierra never finished the game, but that didn't stop me from spending countless hours playing the game, listening to the included soundtrack (yes, if you pop the disk into a cd player there are playable audio tracks that were full symphonys. Wish someone would revive this fame and finish it.

It saddens me that Outpost is one of them as it was the first not for kids game that I played a bit and influenced me quite a bit, drawing spaceships like the one in the beginning all the time.

Outpost 2 is a very well made RTS.
@elecktr0freak7 жыл бұрын
JohnB Plays as a fan of Outpost and the sequel (I'm a huge sci-fi nerd and I liked Space Sim City), both games are very different. Outpost was actually pretty well received for being pretty unique and unique, and a lot of its fans were pissed when the sequel turned out to be an RTS (except me, because it actually had some really interesting unit types and strategy). So, gotta disagree with LGR on Outpost and the reviews on Outpost 2; teenage me loved the hell out of both of them.
@LeoInterVir7 жыл бұрын
I really enjoyed Outpost and I felt it's gameplay was pretty straight forward. The only thing I didn't like was when some colonists left the main colony and started their own. In doing so they took resources which incensed the difficulty. The rebel colony also usually failed. I also really enjoyed outpost 2 and recommend it. There are many different ways to play it, adding more to the fun.
