It's honestly pretty embarrassing as a powerlifter. Guys over here put on suits, thick-ass belt, wraps, chalk, ammonia, then barely low-bar squat to depth, a weight that isn't even close to what these olympic lifters are doing.

Why almost every chinese lifter ripped to the bones? I heard the more you lean, more chances u will get injured.
@markobegus4 жыл бұрын
You heard wrong...they were the first lifters that used the simple logic: the leaner you are the more muscle mass you have compared to other athletes in the same weight class. The same height 61kg lifter with 20% bodyfat would have 10kg less muscle mass or even more, they seem to be in the 9% or even less bodyfat zone. More muscle mass is less chance of getting injured IMO.

@Xrelent3 жыл бұрын
*Weight classes.* Look at literally every sport with weight classes: The flyweights are shredded and the heavyweights are fatties. Chinese lifters tend to be small, but not always -- China produces a lot of female heavyweight lifters and they are a bunch of tubbies as expected. To answer your other question: Being excessively lean puts you at risk of lowered immunity and, in very extreme cases (I'm talking even leaner, like bodybuilders), organ failure and liver damage. Remember: Olympians are willing the risk and they have coaches to monitor them and keep them on track.
