CCP covers all training fees since athletes were kids, travel fees to play tournaments, etc. just covers all, like parents. Ofc there is trade off. Amazed by Li Na.

She is one of the very few Chinese sports celebrity who an actually speak like a real person, not a brainwashed type. She does not talk or thank her coach, her parents or her love for the county, like almost every Chinese athletes, Instead she mentioned price money, fame and success as her motive for tennis… . so and yes she has a great sense of humor.

It’s good to see Li Na back in Australia after winning the AO. She is of course able to travel abroad and free to give interviews. But how about her fellow countrywoman Peng Shuai? Where is her freedom to travel abroad? Her freedom to be interviewed by press? Or maybe just her freedom not to be sexually assaulted by some some Chinese politician? As a Chinese, a woman and a tennis winner, Li Na has a responsibility to support Peng Shuai and condemn the Chinese politician who sexually assaulted Peng Shuai . Otherwise she’s just hypocrite. As a matter of fact, this whole interview looks very hypocritical - Li Na, the interviewer and the pop corn they are eating.

That's complete BS, Li Na didn't come from a rich family and she trained under funding from the Chinese tennis association ever since she was a little kid, it was only when she made enough money to be able to sustain herself in her 20s that she went solo. Many Chinese kids who can't afford private coaching or training centres still train under gov funding to this day, without it, there is no Li Na period.
