I haven't heard that poem for nearly 40 years when taught it in James St. CBS primary in Dublin. Came across first line while on an Aer Lingus flight on the seat covers and gave me goose pimples. Great school like to thank Mr Gleeson, Mr Kelly, Mr Creen, Mr Begley, Br. Keegan, Br. ( Bozo). Br Kelly and I cannot remember the other great teachers during that time. 1968 - 1974

Went boarding school back in the day too. No horror stories to tell . Grateful to the women and men ( mostly they were men ) who taught me.

Liam was so fabulous, without question. Tommy Byrne also has wonderful vocals to this song.

I had no idea the lyrics or what it was about. Gosh is this sad.
